This video is about depression and has bipolar disorder. He stood by her through it all.

I saw an interview with Chris about this video, and he was looking to write about the toughest thing he could imagine going through and suicide of a family member was it. He wrote the song and teamed up with mental health organizations to work with a film crew to make a video they could use for suicide prevention. The song is good but paired with the video it is phenomenal. It takes a mighty tough person to always stand strong for a mentally ill loved one.

I was hoping you would get to this track, Fam. Mental illness is a struggle that many do not know how to talk about or walk beside those who struggle with it. And even when you do everything you can possibly do, much remains outside your control. The frightening reality of mental illness is marked by the absence of control. The power of the mind over everything we do, and when it becomes outside our ability to regulate it, the effects are often disastrous.

As a person who has survived horrible traumas diagnosed with CPTSD, I can 100% say you fight to live every day for everyone around you. My husband has taken the blunt end of saving me many times. I can get trigger by the demons of my past and say the most horrible things, usually because I don’t feel worthy of love. I have finally reached out for help and things are getting better. I now work as a nurse in mental health and chemical dependency. 99% of the time someone struggling with mental health lashes out , they don’t mean it, they are scared and they just need to be grounded. I hate the saying but it is true, Hurt people Hurt people . If anyone reading this is struggling, please reach out for help. There are free support groups online, and in your areas. I would love to pass along some information to the fam here if needed or wanted. But, you are NOT alone, and ending your book before it’s been completely written is not good for anyone. This song is nearly a mirror of my relationship with my husband. We couldn't have more opposite backgrounds, I can tell yall young fighters life is a marathon! Pace it! Bc some pain stays w u, and some problems can't be fixed.. I don't have enough time to say how many times I have had to remember my husband is clueless about my demons, but he chooses to stay anyway! He can't fight them, but he will stay here to catch me when I can't stand up to them alone! He can't do anything but love me, it's shocking, what he's been through trying to love me past all the scar tissue around my heart. I can be vicious when I'm hurt. But, he takes it. He stays. He waits. And he will not be pushed aside or left behind. I could never explain how much love and respect I have for bc he will not let my darkness scare him off. That gives me the strength to get past the hard shit.. God absolutely blessed me when he made this man.. he's my rock! 23 years and he still amazes me!

Relate to this song was in a relationship with someone who struggled and was using drugs to cope.. Lots of highs and lows.. He passed away 8 months ago. I am big on Mental health especially for men!! You can love someone and still treat them like garbage and it happens all the time. You can't always save someone no matter how much you love them and that happens all the time. Wish I had an answer but I'm as lost as everyone else.

Bipolar is so hard and so is BPD...so much strength wrapped up in so much fragility. It's hard for people like us to accept love. To us that seems like the best option, I have found if you can mentally keep going for like an hour the thoughts will lesson. It doesn't feel right to have someone you love have to babysit you.

Chris is so unique he is the real deal, I love all of his songs!

Yo you explained this exactly as I experienced it the first time. If I'm following, you were left with the idea that when we truly love and care about people, there are times that we need to look beyond the simple emotional reactions that we all experience on a regular basis. There are times that we need to take a step back so that we can see the forest through the trees so to speak.

Your perspective is very different than mine. He loved her despite her obvious mental illness, not because he didn't know his worth. He is a much stronger person than most because he stuck with her when so many others wouldn't have. That shows the strength of his love

It may have taken the video to understand what he was feeling behind the lyrics, but man it hit hard if you’ve ever seen mental illness tear people apart, especially those with BPD.

It sucks man because I have depression and when I have a really bad episode I sleep 12+hrs a day and then I wake up and lay in bed all day until I fall asleep again, this shit isnt a joke I wouldnt wish it on anyone...

I appreciate the change in genre...as someone who loves music, it be rap rock country r&b rockabilly soul punk funk metal americana classical...I can say just because you can't relate to it in your current place in life dont mean you won't eventually & thats why I love music because its universal if your just step out off comfort zone & at the end of it hopefully you'll grow as an individual...so take that leap into other genres more often & again in the process gain more subs & possible introduce others to grow with you that may not have otherwise...

For some reason I didn’t get notified that you uploaded this video, so sorry for the late comment. I see others have said this song is about being with someone who struggles with mental illness, which in this case is someone who is bipolar. As a daughter, granddaughter, and mom this song truly captures what it’s like to watch people you love struggling with depression knowing there’s nothing you can do to help them until they help themselves. Watching my daughter struggle has been one of the hardest and most heartbreaking things I’ve had to do. Sadly she has struggled with depression and anxiety since she was 12 yrs old. She’s now 25 and although she’s been great more than she hasn’t, the times she hasn’t been great have been brutal. She’s been an ICU Tech for almost 6 yrs and because of having to hold the hands of so many people that died with or from Covid because their family members weren’t allowed, she attempted suicide twice last year. It’s a miracle that both attempts failed and I thank God daily for that. I am happy to say that’s she’s doing great after being prescribed the right meds and going to therapy at least once a week. If you’ve never known anyone who struggles, or been the person that struggles, if’s something you never understand. I will also add that the stigma surrounding mental illness has to end! It’s a disease just like diabetes, hypothyroidism, cancer, addiction, etc and should be treated as such! Thank you for this reaction and to anyone in the comments who knows someone or has suffered themselves, things can and will get better if you do the work.

I was Military Police, and have had to deal with stuff similar to this. We're not superheroes. We have to deal with our own lives, but also, the lives of others. It's not easy.

Thank God I can't fully relate to this song but I think I came close. Someone who is bipolar is or can be suicidal. My wife's was brought on by her parents divorce. There was great times and some really abusive (mentally / words, choose the words that cut like a razor) and I knew it was only her pent up anger disappointment etc from what happened to her family. So I allowed it because I felt like if I didn't I may come home to a nightmare.. You let them take everything out on you because you love them and you're afraid if you stand up for yourself you'll live a lifetime of regret.. When I first heard this song I could relate man.. I wonder if he wrote this and if he did how he came to this angle, hopefully just listening to other who have been through this.

we do need to stand for ourselves id'a sought help for her he was losing her to her demonds. seen men go through that to the very end of that many times, don't tell me there is no men left with honer. had a friend of the family that was a county clerk he lost his wife to the same problems only it took many years for it to end. it manifests itself into the physical and she died of those ailments for example. last time i saw her she was a wreck, and on the fast track on the way out .she'd always been a Beautifull woman and she hid it well but she couldn't hide it forever. tore my heart out. don't take this one at face value, Steve. we are men that's why we do it. of that happened to your girl i know you'd stick it out. because you are a man a good one. backbone all day long and a heart of iron we dig deep. we just need to avoid fake girls. superficial women are the problem.
