just when i"m about to give up on country along comes a guy like chris stapleton to renew my faith. he even has a steel guitar in the band. i have died and gone to heaven.
He also has the greats gravitate to him, like Mickey Raphael and Benmont Tench. In fact Mickey is in this video playing the harmonica. Benmont Tench was Tom Petty's keyboardist in the Heartbreakers.
I have watched this video at least 50 times and never get tired of playing it. Chris rocks this Waylon tune. Chris is the new country I have been waiting for, for a long time. Job well done.
Chris and Morgane are magic together. I'm so glad she encouraged Chris to share their talents with the world. Chris has an amazing voice with ability to make us feel the music.
This man has many God given talents, song writing, guitar skills, but undoubtedly his vocal skills are unmatched. Doesn't matter what he sings , he owns it, and once he has sung it, no other version measures up. Have seen him twice in concert, hope to do so this summer as well. So glad I discovered his music in 2017. Nothing's been the same in my music world since
While I agree he's great. Waylon actually lived every word in the song. There's something about someone singing the truth that's unbeatable. This is a great cover, but nobody does Waylon quite like Waylon.
@@WeekndWarriorrr Actually, it was Rodney Crowell that "lived every word in the song". He wrote it based on his experience. You can find his story and him singing the song here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p3C09xEwX-Q.html
He's kept alive alot of songs done in the1970's, by Waylon, Willie, Jerry Jeff Walker and Gary P. Nunn, among others, like this one. He does them justice good to hear
I'm so glad this man came along just when I was starting to lose faith in country music when we lost the late great Waylon Jennings . My faith has been resurrected . Unbelievable talent . Much Respect ... Thank you for sharing ...
Most of the artists recording today do not write songs! Martina Mcbride, for instance, has written part of 1 song on her many albums. Faith Hill has written none. Tim Mcgraw has written 4 songs!
This man has over 1000 songs under his belt, But just a few for him self. It's about time that he And his wife are starting to get the credit they have worked for.
His wife, Morgane, was a regular performer at our venue, The Flying Machine, when she first started her career many years ago. She was awesome back then.
He writes a bunch of hits for others and collects the checks then records them for himself better than any of the others did and collects the checks once again. Genius move.

There is nothing like the feeling you get aka at the 3:11 again at 4:46 min. mark when Chris yells YEAH...Because you know...your band is on fire & burning down the house!
Saw this live the other night in Knoxville Tn. ( 10/26/18). Marty Stuart was up there with him pickin the fire outta his telecaster too. Let me tell you, they did it right !!!
Yup! Nothin' but respect for Mr. Stapleton! That dude has all the DNA of a superstar and he's put in the work to get there. I'm not a huge country music fan but I think I've liked everything I've heard him do.
What are people talking about? Its is rocking! The vocals of Chris and Morgane are made for it and the band is laying down the best licks - steel guitar, drums, guitars, piano, harmonica. All together it is a treat and you cannot keep your feet from moving. Quit analyzing and/or comparing this cut. Just listen to it and move.
I love watching the steel guitarist face! He is great to watch and especially to listen to! But then anyone associated with Chris or Morgan’s are great, or they wouldn’t be there. Talk about class, perfectionist and performing and giving the very best you have to give at each performance. That is what you get every time you go and listen to them. They wouldn’t be themselves to give any less.
Thank u for keeping the outlaw music alive an your beautiful music is awesome you give me hope that the real music is back again thank you for sharing your awesome band and I'm still listening to your music 🎶 in Northern Canada 🍁 country in 2024
AWESOME TALENT and he makes you feel his lyrics, knowing they are coming from the soul and he's rock'n it to a whole new level!!PLAY ON BROTHER AND SHOW EM HOW'S IT DONE
Such a humble cat, him and Luke Colmbs, exactly how I want my country stars to be, amazed to be there and thankful to the people that bought their stuff!! And props to Chris for dancin with the one that brought him!! His wife is an amazing singer and they go everywhere together!! Respect!!
Like Stapleton says ain’t living long like this, I get it. You know our situations. You’ve been trying I’ve been denying. Always happy to hear from you. Luv the wave and drive by. Friends!
All those people who call themselfs country singers out there needcto listen to this man sing maybe they'll catch on .cause what there singing is bullshit now him on the other hand pure country they all need to take lessons from this man
Oh my gosh...best vocal ...instramental EVER. Those musicians were having the time of their life, amazing to watch amazing to listen too. Perfection. Last time I watched anything like this was when Prince was on stage. Although I like the joy and admiration in these folks, it was a party of pure country music going on.
Omgosh. Can’t believe I’ve never heard this. Only tune I’ll ever need. Tween the steel, rhythm, and had to do a little digging, but Buddy Miller has a new fan. I’m a rocker, but he plays the sweetest riff I’ve ever heard, bar none. That is awesome. All of’em. Cookin’
