If I'm not mistaken I believe he once stated in an interview that sometimes he gets stage fright or nerves and looks at her and it calms him. I love them the harmony is wonderful bc of her being so in sync with him.
Have you ever seen the interview where they were asked about how they first got together? He has his wife on stage because he suffers from severe anxiety and can't play without her there. Doesn't want to play without her there. she's the one that talked him out of just writing songs and finally performing his songs. He wrote a bunch of hits before he ever stepped onto the stage himself. She's the reason why.
No, no, no. She is the one who had terrible stagefright but she's long since gotten over it. He wrote songs for others for many years, including 170 hits. She is the one who convinced him to start making his own recordings.
Chris is definitely an alien. He is a very rare element in the country/blues genre of music. You can't help but sing along with him so don't apologize for that - it's part of your reaction and makes you who you are. Another good song of his is Death Row - try it if you haven't already.
