Christian Okoye was a late arriver to the sport of football, beginning his NFL career in his mid-20's.
In spite of all of this, his massive size and physique at the running back position made The Nigerian Nightmare one of the most recognizable players in the whole league. Weighing in anywhere from 253-280 pounds during his playing days, Okoye is one of the largest ball carriers ever and was a two-time Pro Bowler. He also led the NFL in rushing in 1989.
I do not own any of this footage. Don't take my video down, please.

Okoye was pretty good not only in real life, but in the video game world too. I remember using him in Super Tecmo Bowl quite often. Okoye, Bo Jackson, Barry Sanders, and QB Eagles were the best runners in the game.

Although I was and still current Broncos fan. Back then with Steve DeBerg and Christian in the backfield the Chiefs was actually unstoppable. Steve DeBerg always made the Chiefs hand out problems to the opposing team with that *PLAY ACTION FAKE* . Playing against the Chiefs, you have to think *run* first then Steve will kill you with the pass fooling everyone including the cameraman. *Thanks for the memories*

This man is a beast and the great east chiefs half back ever. To add on to the comment before this, there was another really good rushing qb that might have been even faster than qb eagles in Tecmo super bowl, and it was the backup for the lions , Andre ware so go use him he’s a decent passer tooo

Like Bo Jackson. Okoye's talent was never fully tapped into. Only if he'd started playing in highschool and drafted at 21-22 years and get 10 or 12 years out of him. I'll take the 6 years we got but boy it would've been nice to get more.

I know it might come across as a relatively small thing, but they really couldn’t be bothered to say his name right at all? I see this all the time and it kinda irks me that this continues to happen. They should’ve given the man the respect he deserves.

I appreciate the effort in making the video, but I think the title should be "Okoye plays I was able to get footage of".. I mean come on, this man was a terror. Way too many 3-5 yd runs in this video that every back in the league would make. Literally just played footage of the runs you could find. I get that, but don't title it his career highlights. Hopefully the youngsters watching this understand that these ARE NOT his CAREER highlights!

@dr death He was technically a fullback in their offense according to formation. When the run was more prominent fullbacks were often primary ball carriers. Examples are Christian Okoye, Larry Csonka, Franco Harris, etc. All “fullbacks” and feature backs in their systems.

My favorite part of football was always a lower scoring game 2 physical teams and a great offensive line dominating with a great power runner like Okoye just taking control of the game, sure if you break a 70 yard against a defense it hurts but if a big back chews up those same 70 yards in 8 or 9 plays it is devestating
@drewb6251
@drewb6251 3 года назад
I remember... that dude was AWESOME... and the first tackler NEVER got him down... it was usually the third or a whole gang that finally took The Nightmare down.... defensive lineman? No Problem, knock him down and head for the Next Obstacle in the way.... wish he hadn't retired so soon.....
@judahbigcat7930
@judahbigcat7930 2 года назад
His knees ( knee injuries) started failing him, which took the fun of playing out of him. He said in an interview that football started becoming more of a “job”, rather than enjoyment, which caused him to retire. A human body can only take a certain amount of punishment, before it starts to retaliate towards failure.
