I am 70 years old been working since I’ve been 15 years old and now working 12 hours a day and it absolutely ANGERS me beyond words when I see people younger than myself making up any excuse not to work and getting paid not to work. They claim they have so many health problems but you see them shopping at the malls ,driving here going there , on vacations but I can’t even afford a vacation but yet I’m working 12 hours a day!! So VERY WRONG!!😢
I'm in agreement with you,I have been retired for 10 years now but I could see this coming,I know that the young folks you just described will pay for it down the line (no pension,no social security, no future at all and so will their kids) some things just have to take their course, Only thing we can do is pray for them (remember this isn't the first generation that decided to be lazy,read your Bible)

This is how we think we can provide for ourselves. Our faith should be that God is our provider. Everything comes from him. Howerver, there are biblical principles he gave us to live by. These cover the care for the aging as well. While we continue to murder the most vulnerable we expect to be blessed of God. It’s sinful. Too many children don’t want to care for the parents in their old age. They want nice cushy lives and keep everything to themselves. If we follow the standard in the word then our society would function correctly.
You are right and tithing is one of those Biblical principles which is taught incorrectly in Christianity. Christian tithes are used to pay pastor salaries and building expenses. Biblical tithing was a form of welfare/social security. The Churches that collect tithes should be using them to support the elderly , widows, orphans etc..
I agree with every word Bishop said. His sermon made the ramifications of abortion real on an economic level. We are guilty. We have been weighed in the balances and found wanting. Many of those children would be on social security. Many parents abort children due to chromosomal abnormalities and fetal abnormalities. Due to the environment in which they were sired, many of them would be in economically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually disadvantaged situations. Perhaps the talented 10% of them might make it out of those environments alive and moderately successful, but the 6 million that do would not be enough to offset the 54 million who would be in prison, in gangs, on unemployment, on welfare, on drugs, or simply didn't make it to working age because it's difficult for a 13 year old who was raped by her cousin to 1. Give birth and survive or 2. Raise a well developed child. I'm pro-life as well, but the situation is much more nuanced than the preacher makes it out to be. Instead of preaching anti-abortion to the world, he, and us as well, should be teaching abstinence to the church. God's Word and His Spirit makes these nuanced subjects of debate very simple.

Too many women have even got on this internet bragging about having abortions. To think that way about humanity is sickening to me and just imagine if your parents thought that way about you. Unfortunately, he's also negating the fact that the government continually borrows from social security. Something was not allowed until Johnson and others changed the law. It's going broke because the government borrowed and won't put it back.
That is not true. Yes the government has borrowed from SS but by law it has to pay it back and with interest. The government as of right now owes SS 2.7 trillion dollars to SS but SS and medicare combined are $93 trillion in unfunded liabilities as of right now.

Part of want the Bishop is saying is correct, but the issues with SSA is not that simplistic. First of all, the program was never setup to payout benefits, and people are living longer that they were when the entitlement was created which is a drain on the system and thirdly, we have a growing segment of the populous that receives disability payments but hasn’t really worked 30-40 years in order to pay into the system which puts stress on the system as well. GOD didn’t make the Social Security administration.
Don't forget to add the self- employed that do not pay into the system, government employees and others that do not pay into the system, the unemployed and the under employed.

I attended one congregation back in the 90s, Calvary Chapel of Honolulu under pastor Bill Stonebraker, that kept and used a widows and single mother's list. The pastor recognized taking care of widows and fatherless children had always been an obligation God had upon believers, so he was determined to have a positive answer when God held him to account.
It’s crazy I am a widow and I asked for some help. And trust the church wanted to know how much I attributed to the church before they could help me. So no they don’t help. I never asked for anything again. So the church has not helped. I always served and gave.

I worked in the Federal Government for decades. The USG does not take out social security. So after retirement, I worked in private industry to add social security hours to the small amount I earned before my government career. I was unable to work the number of years needed to be eligible to collect social security benefits so the money I earned (five years worth) sits in the system so someone else can benefit from it. Yes, the system is broke-oops I mean broken-and will eventually need a drastic overhaul to keep it afloat.

There is plenty of government funding to support SSI, they need to stop sending billions overseas funding other countries. It’s really that simple. They were pushing to send $10 billion to Ukraine months ago, make it make sense? They have enough money for reparations for blacks too. All the money is already there in play, it’s about how their allocating it, to suit their own interests.
Why should we pay into SS anyway? Why couldn't Individuals keep their money and save for their retirement themselves? Why did the government ever get involved? Why has the government mismanaged the money? And why are individuals receiving money and having never paid into it?

My oldest sister dated a guy who never worked a day in his Life, He claimed that he bumped his head & got a concussion in gym class when he was fifteen, so the government pays him $2500 a month, all he has to do is go to his social worker every month to prove that he can't read and still has memory problems. Uhhh the man DJ's in the side & can take a car apart and put it back together. He thinks it's funny every time he comes back from his social worker and joke's about getting his money for free.

Unemployment rate in 1959 was 5%. Today it’s 3.7%. Although abortion is a problem morally i don’t think the two are tied together. Today more people beating the system and using the benefit that ever before. Still a great conversation though

He’s preaching politics again. This is not what he’s called to do, preach the word the biblical gospel, preach about the root of the issues in society and the answer not the fruit of it. It’s really disappointing that Wooden is going down this road, it’s interesting that I’ve never heard him preach about the gun culture, the NRA or the latest on death row. Why doesn’t he preach about America’s culture of murder across the board identify it expose it and use it to present the gospel. Why does he just focus on abortion? There is a great danger as believers when we are dictated to by society and when we put our trust in any political system. Vote yes if you want to but don’t be coerced. There is no compulsion for us to vote. None of these politicians are believers and none of the systems in society are for the benefit of the church. When Jesus walked this earth He refused to be drawn into the politics of the day, refused to bow to the political or religious systems at work. Of course we stand for truth and holiness but if we don’t identify the sin in us and keep trying to fix everyone else we are in great danger. Preach the word not politics.
The Bishop has seemingly brought into republican talking points. Another thing is if you didn't pay in you shouldn't be receiving benefits, and I should be receiving only what I put in not someone else's input. Bishop God didn't start SSI man did. That is not even biblical. Scripture tells us to care for the poor. Welfare systems were set up to be a safety net. Some people are in need and have not paid into the system but it is not always their doing. Whether their parents died or they were in the care system. There are many reasons people end up in a place they need help. If we refuse to help them and they are genuinely needing help we have to answer to God. Many need help to manage their lives whether a change in their mindset or just a chance to get back on their feet it’s reasonable to help people who need it.
