The phones were hanging on a wall or sitting on a coffee table. I used to do anything NOT to answer it. Those were the days. Oh to be able to board a time capsule for a little while...
the nostalgia that'd coming from this is insane omg. unmatchable feeling. it gives you comfort knowing other people had regular lives and you think of the 1900s as so different but it really wasnt
@@lamujermaslinda How dense are you? Are you under the impression I'm trying to claim this video as mine? I'm not... I have no idea who these people are, it just so happens that 1988 is my birth year. Is it really that impossible to believe that someone born in June of 1988 might POSSIBLY have decided to look up home videos from their birth year? What could I possibly gain from telling people I was born 6 months before this video was filmed, I hope to god this is a misunderstanding and you aren't actually that fucking dumb.
I've been watching these video since last year's quarantine. They have given me the nostalgia I long for since my parents passed and was jobless last year. Thank you for making them.
@@christinad4432 It's HUGELY exaggerated (usually by people who don't know any better) -- to the point of being meaningless, especially for the amount of times people actually play their home videos. Regardless, this video wasn't shot on VHS anyway.
This brings me back so many happy wonderful and comforting memories of the 80 it was a wonderful happy time had all my childhood family Christmases at my grandmas some of my happiest memories miss them soo much
It's hard to believe I was also alive on Christmas Day in 1988. I had just turned 2 so I don't remember much of it lol, but I was there. I feel old now.
I was around their age at the time.Seems like I’m watching one of my video’s.I can’t believe we are all in our 60’s or older.Time really goes by fast…!
The self consciousness these people would have felt had they only had know that tens of thousands of people in the future, from around the world would be watching this!
Wow, we had that same rose colored carpet in our house in the late 80s. I miss the 80s. My dad was still alive. I remember the magic of the malls around this time. No Walmart Black Friday sales. An amazing time to be a young adult just starting out
I love how they are in San Jose California! Lol (that’s where I’m from, ha!) “as the world turns” wasn’t that a show in the 80s? This is golden, little did they know they would be watched 30 years later on the internet lmao I’m assuming this was for their family on a later date…wonder what got someone to sell it on eBay 😟
This is what you show the kids today who think everyone walked around in the 80s dressed like the walked off the set for Olivia Newton-John's Physical. No, most of us were dorks.
What a wonderful video. I really hope they have a DVD copy or a copy of the tape so perhaps that is why it was with a sale on eBay. Maybe they wanted it for some reason to share with others life of back then, and they were okay with sharing their lives? I hope this isn't lost forever to them. I love home videos and old camcorders have amazing quality. I hope all is well to those in home videos all over that we view. Perhaps putting them on here can get someone to find this for themselves again! If you can't upload on here, perhaps try looking for clues in videos to track them down and to see if it was a mistake that they lost the video. It is rare to find someone to just throw it away without trying to convert it if they don't have a VCR. Or DVD player if they have one of those modern camcorders. I am sure people still create home movies. Have a wonderful day everyone! :D.
A lot of them old tapes are stuff sellers have bought from estate sells, auction houses, yard sells and ect. Those old tapes have some value even if they been recorded on cause you can record over them.
@@bargainhunter2404 Very true. I have a home video of a girl and her family and from hints from the video, I found where she is. I tried getting ahold of her but she hasn't responded yet. It was in a free bin on the side of the road. It may have been a relative's home it was at because it was a few towns over from where I found it. Thank you for the information :). Have a wonderful day! :D.
There are services that do it for you. I don't know where you live but there are companies that you can mail your old home videos to and they convert them to digital files for you and send them back.
Hey Gilbert - this is really interesting and I love it. Do you know the legalities of posting other people's videos for public viewing? Are you interested in finding the families who made the videos or was it the families that sold them to you? Just curious.
I'm not Gilbert sorry, but I have read in his past comment where found a camcorder in a thrift store with a video tape still inside and decided to digitise, I'm glad he did because they VERY interesting, as a viewer from Australia
Can we all start a public domain site to preserve old home videos? I mean, these family memories hold voices of loved ones that we'll never hear or see again. I think we should take the time to preserve them. I don't know, but I feel like we could benefit, as we are now, from preserving these. From my faded, woke mind, To yours. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas
@@planetx1595 yeah but they restrict a lot and they start deleting videos and whatnot, archive.org is more about preserving records and have been doing it since 1996. It's not a bad alternative.
@@yoli5779 I thought restrictions and video deletions were up to the uploader not RU-vid themselves, as long as the channel is still active, the posted videos on the channel will remain on there "forever" or until RU-vid goes out of business, which of course we don't want that to happen
The unborn baby is now 32 even though this year hasn't ended yet and I say 32 because that's December and she looked no less than four months pregnant and rn the month of August is about to start now in 2021 which is eights months from the start of the year to now
Slight Of Mind just go to Gilbert’s channel. I watch his all of the time. He’s been recording since the late 80’s. I don’t know if he recorded every day since then but at least weekly . I feel like I know his family and watch them age. A fun bunch
