Video of customer's eating and smoking at a McDonalds location in Florida. Footage of customer's ordering food and employee's preparing orders. This video last around 10 minutes. #mcdonalds
There's easily 3x the staff in a tiny restaurant in this video as a big city mcdonald's today, firstly. Secondly, the customers aren't all obese people with a ruined gut-brain axis and entitlement hasn't taken over. Third... yeah you're right. I can't stand workers today.
Facts! They actually worked! See hw many employees were back there and they were actually moving! Today there 5 employees on break and everybody else standing around. Then have the nerve to want higher pay?
Back in the 80s and even early 90s, highschool students REALLY WANTED to work for McDonalds. It was a logical first job, and kids worked hard to earn money to spend at the malls, arcades, clothes, hanging out, movies etc. Today, teens shun working at McDonalds.....
well, ok I dressed like a metal band person in the 80s and still do, in black with leather and stuff, but I get your point. A lot of people now just go out in pajamas or just don’t dress well in public no matter what style they have, and a lot of employees don’t do their jobs now, Lots of rude people everyone is angry i guess in 2023. I love technology but I’d give up everything we now have in technology the internet, smartphones, streaming TV, VR etc to be back in the 1980s though.
Wow. Nobody yelling, screaming, cussing or throwing. Everyone clean, groomed, well and dressed, well spoken. Everyone carrying their self with dignity. Now society is a toilet.
Japan is still like that though... But yeah, I live in latin america, and is the same though, people are rude, kids are brain dead and zombyfied, and everything beautiful is somehow tried to be destroyed. I truly wish God or something really big happens soon, so everything can just reset itself, this cannot continue any longer like this really. My best.
I was 17 in 1984 and I didn't realize how much more respectful people were then, cause it was the only reality that I knew. But living today, I see the difference
Come to Germany, the Most grocery stores or even the most Fastfood Restaurants like McDonald's or Burger King are stil places with Peace, yelling karens or criminal violence is pretty low in comparsion to the USA. Germany and USA are two complete different worlds
@@ekop1778 *Gross* times you mean ... I did not like dealing with smokers while eating. That goodness that is not allowed today! Everything is subjective!
I was a young kid during this era. This is when having a birthday party at McDonalds was every kids dream. A Happy Meal was a big deal. It was actually something to look forward to. I enjoy aspects of technology but I do miss how people interacted before the smart phone era. I got to experience childhood in the 80s and teens in the 90s. I miss those days.
Very true. My dad never let me eat fast food unless I was getting a shot at the doctors. After my appointment I would get some McDonald’s fries and I was happy with that. To have your birthday party there was a dream.
@@Smurfyis730happy meal, the kids meal even had the coolest toys for crying out loud!! All it took was one rotten scoundrel raised by crooks looking to catch a case that ruined that forever
@@Smurfyis730 seriously, the aroma filled the entire space. I remember vividly the older folks, it were mostly polish seniors in my area back then, and they'd be the early birds with the freshest brew all sitting together in a row gossiping about everyone and themselves.
I was a manager from 1978 to 1987 and we were SOOO busy back then. The lobby would be packed at lunch and dinner. Quarter pounders and quarter pounders with cheese were 55 and 65 cents respectively when I started. There was a big emphasis on workers being fast and always saying “thank you, come again.”
I worked back, front, and drive-thru 1992. Question, would you be able to drop in any McDs today and work your shift like it was in 1980? I know, it might take me an hour to get used to what's changed, but the processes remain unchanged IMO.
Hard to believe how nicely dressed, well mannered, and overall how nice people look. Nobody is morbidly obese. No rude remarks or comments. Crazy how times have changed.
It is shocking at the high rate of obesity today. I’ll go shopping and we’ll over half of the people(young and old) are overweight or obese. I saw a picture of a high school female bowling team and 90% were obese. What has happened? I have to blame technology on a lot of it
@Brandon The Sigma I was 19 in 1984 and even though I was out of the house, McDonalds was still a 1-2x a month treat. I mostly ate at home and cooked for my roommates. We also walked everywhere.
Old videos of fast food restaurants are further proof of the past actually being superior in many ways. Everyone's better dressed and better behaved, and the restaurant's cleaner and more efficient. I'd expect the food _quality_ to be superior as well
Back when I was a kid we went on a school field trip and stopped at McD's for lunch. I remember you could smell McD's blocks away as we approached. And it tasted soooooooo good. The fries were awesome. My most recent trip the burgers just taste like chemicals and the fries turn to plastic after a few minutes.
@@Anarchist86ed Dear God are you right! Another thing I remember from 80s McDonald's is that they would frequently employ genuine clowns to play Ronald and he'd just be walkin' around in the place!

Last year something interesting happened at my office job: the internet went out for the last hour of the day. The offices slowly came to life and everyone was just chatting and socialising since we couldn’t do any work. It’s also inappropriate to have your phone out at work so nobody whipped them out. I really appreciated it and tried to take the experience in, even walking through the corridor looking into each office everyone was just hanging out, smiling and laughing: just for the sake of it. It was an organic, unplanned social occasion and it reminded me of the good old days like this video. The sound of people being with eachother. Ofcourse the next morning the internet was up and running and it was amazing how stuffy, cold and void of human life the office became again. Extrapolate that one hour without screens and internet into decades and entire lifetimes and that’s where the magic lies.
I worked at McDonald's in 1990, and I can tell you without doubt: The people, registers, environment etc, was just like this! How has McDonald's (and the rest of the world) changed so dramatically for worse?! I'm so glad I experienced life in the 80s. Thank you for uploading this gem!
You probably weren’t aware of it back then but you have made an important historical deed when you recorded this. Giving us a glimpse into a gone past era. Thank you for your work!

In the 90's another thing really changed. Music. Look how DARK hip hop became, all full of cussing and bad vibes. Early hip hop and electro was actually uplifting - it was meant to be that way, to lift the spirits of those in the ghetto.
I was born in 1983 December to be exact..wish I could enter my screen and revisit my loved ones including myself and look a 1 year old me lol. Would be so cool to do that..I love the old 60s TV show "the twilight zone" for that reason..

This is like walking into a time machine. I was a little girl in 1984. This is my memory of McDonald's at that time. Cashiers at each register, lobby full of people eating, enjoying each other's company. I'll be 45 this month. It's almost scary looking back and remembering a world that wasn't cold.
I was in my 20s loved big Macs, Carl's Jr & taco bell, now they don't taste the same. I still do McDonald's every now n then for nostalgic reasons I guess
I'm 45 as well. I remember those times. The first thing that stuck out to me was the ash trays on the tables. I remember loving the playground and going into the Bigmac Policmen's jail thingy. Anyone my age will know what I'm talking about.
I kinda cried a bit watching this. In 1984 I was 14 and I used to work at McDonalds from 1983-1987. I actually really liked working there! I made my way into making $5.75 an hour (not bad back then!). I even remember the manager making a real good living too; I want to say about $45,000 a year. Back then that was a lot! I had to go to high school and the company respected when I could and couldn't work! Imagine that! This was my favorite high school job! Thank you Vampire Robot for putting this on YT!
Hi Stephanie, I was also thinking about how genuine people were in those days and I miss them. I’m in my mid 40s but I am old enough to remember those days and wish that we could see some of that same kind of human spirit these days. A lot of those young workers there are now at retirement age which is hard to imagine. Time is so precious and yet so fleeting makes you think about the bigger picture or at least it does for me!
Notice how everyone is friendly, smiling and having a good time. The 80's and 90's was such a simpler and happy time to be alive. Social media, smart phones and reality television ruined society IMO. I would literally give ANYTHING to go back in time to being younger in this era 😢😢
I feel homesick now for a bygone era. People dressed nicely and treated each other with respect. Real conversations without a screen in everyones face.

I was a Crew trainer back then. I don’t miss the smoking section, but miss the flavor of actually searing and seasoning the 1/10 patties. Also the soft serve machine always worked, because at least 3 people on any given shift were qualified to strip it down and rebuild it. There was real pride in the work we did there. We were serving guests who deserved our best efforts. Every time.

Lmao, another nostalgic simp. I say this as a 90’s kid who loved my childhood.. Nostalgia is such a cheap emotion that clouds critical thinking. I'm not saying I don't fall into the trap, but but it is easy to take a past situation where you have fully made it through to the other side, and conclude that since all the variables in play have played out, and since it's familiar territory now, it must have been some less complicated, wholesome time, in the same way people are susceptible to thinking that history wasn't complicated, messy, or nuanced for the people living through it at the time. Every generation becomes nostalgic. So, just because we entered the 21st century everyone suddenly became “less nice”? 🤡😂🤣🤦♂️
@@cbgg1585 “so, just because we entered the 21st century, everyone suddenly became “less nice”? 🤡 “Another nostalgic simp” You said it. After reading through your boring drivel it’s not difficult to conclude that people were nicer back then. And not as boring. 😁
Does anyone my age (45) or older remember this time period, but it just feels and seems like a different lifetime, or like it is hard to relate to because you've seen the changes in cars, styles, prices, etc. and you are used to the modern times? It just seems surreal. I was recently going through pictures from my early twenties in the late nineties, and I was like, "wow, look how young I looked". Time has moved so swiftly that it's not like you notice the change as much until you look back through pictures or video.
It's called evolution, and the changes you notice now are relative, the RELATIVITY paradigm: There is no change until or unless you have a previous element to compare to
I am 52 years old, and honest to God, 1984 it feels like yesterday, even though it was 39 years ago now. And I agree with you, that it feels like it was another world, and not the same world we are in now. Very strange!

I worked at McDonalds in 1984. The ice cream mix came in a big bag with a tube and was easy to put in and take out. Every evening you took the machine apart and sanitized it then the morning shift is supposed to assemble it . And THAT'S where the problem started . Poorly managed crews would put it off during breakfast , get busy and never assemble it or maybe didn't know how. We used to call out sundaes by "male" or "female" , with or without nuts. But the expanse of fast food was Soo great... That the Ice Cream makers today is more Artificial... Than Real Ice Cream. If you notice the majority of the employees are young.... The Manager was mostly the only one above 25 years.... Nowadays the Employees are Upto Elderly.... That's a result of sending jobs overseas to take advantage of the cheap Labor.... The American people are mostly Service Sector and the really good paying jobs disappeared overseas. Back then you could work 4 days and pay the Rent... Car... Food.. utilities... And go to the ballgame.... Today you work 48 hours and never get above water.... Lower wages and less benefits. That's what happened in the last 40 years.... No Environmental Regulations.... And very Cheap Labor Costs.... Cheap Wages. I loved the 1970s and 1980s.

They look like doctors offices these days.. I think there are maybe a handful or less in my area that haven't been remodeled yet.. I'm born in 1978 and the one I use to live near with my mother growing up (who deceased in 2016 from cancer) is still there and looks the same with the same floors, and it was around 1984 when my mother would take me there.. I'm sure it's going to be replaced at some point in the near future.. Some of them were completely torn down and replaced while others were gutted to the 4 outer walls..
I worked at a few of them during that decade as a teen. Some of the co-workers that I worked with were so nice and treated me as if I were part of the family. Nowadays when going to some of them they have that funeral home look and feel with mostly computerized kiosks that takes your orders now. One time this cashier just stood there for a long time not letting us know what the heck the hold up is with a blank zombie stare staring into space before finally taking my order. And my food was so badly made that I was thinking was this actually a cook or a monkey that made my meal?
The biggest difference between now and then is everyone is actually present . There is no way to see or reason to worry what your friend is doing across town, or something political to get mad about online, or people calling and texting you constantly. You just lived your life in the moment.
100% spot on, there is so much and too much social pressure on people from a very very young age these days and its causing so much stress amongst many other issues because of it ... Life is too fast paced now
I still remember my senior year in HS in 1996, a medium double quarter pounder meal was $3.18. Now the same meal with smaller portion sizes plus worse tasting food is $11.25. Ain’t that some shit?
I was just mentioning that. I could get a quarter pounder with cheese value meal in 1994 when I was in my teens (I graduated 1995) for $3.14 and that includes the tax. The fries definitely are not as fresh or as thick as they used to be. The burgers don't taste as good. The Big Mac has shrunk in size and become mostly bread with super thin beef patties. With a family of four, you're spending over 40 dollars for ONE fast food meal. It's no wonder that people are struggling when food costs so much and everything else keeps going up, yet salaries have barely nudged, comparatively speaking.

I’m amazed by how far we’ve fallen as a society… 1980s was not that long ago, yet everyone dressed up in modest manners, were polite, respectful etc. These days everything has gone down into the toilet.
It was definitely the start of children becoming more disobedient. Boomers were psyoped and told by academics not to spank their children. Not to say no one in gen x and z were spanked. Schools today are mad houses in which kids run the show, and they know it. All by design. A family member of mine taught first grade. Everyday she would break up fights. Rarely is there a father at home. Many are raised by their mothers or grandparents. Many of the kids cannot read. Students are taught to be victims by their own teachers.
I was at a Micky Ds recently and it was pretty sad. Most people were ordering from the self help menus. They had tons of orders coming in from what must have been from their app and delivery services like Uber Eats. The one guy that was waiting at the register was ignored even though he said excuse me several times and eventually left. They could just not handle the amount of orders. They weren't even slacking off they were all working as fast as they could. Technology can be a blessing but it can also really take away from the human experience. Eventually they really will need robots to work at the fast pace that's being demanded from the workers. People don't want to experience anything anymore they just want convenience. I really miss these days. I was a kid in the 80s/90s and I remember you'd wait at the register for them to go get your food. Things still hadn't gotten messed up yet. It really does suck that the newer generations really never got the chance to experience life offline. Everyday life was pretty great. We just didn't know it at the time.
The online delivery services have really screwed everything up. Instead of sitting on their backside ordering everything through their phones people should take the time to leave the sofa now and again.
You've hit the nail on the head. The last time I was in Maccas in London I popped in just for an order of fries to tied me over till I got home. I waited over 15 minutes just for the order and kept getting shoved around at the counter as I was getting in the way of delivery riders in dirty overalls collecting food orders to take out - food orders being delivered in dirty filthy looking carrier boxes. Is this progress?
