I completed the star. A bit challenging, but following your tutorial, especially the very helpful closeups, made it possible. Now to practice the technique, then try with two-sided paper. Thanks again.

Your explanation is very clear and hence it was fun while folding. I couldn't do the way you showed so, i folded all the 6 corners separately and then i folded again. That way it was easy and the folds just fell in place nicely. Last, i just blew through the middle whole and it opened beautifully like waterbomb andas the little stars were opening up , i put glue and blew again.My daughter is having fun by flattening it and blowing again and again

It's great to hear you and your daughter are enjoying the model. And I'm all for people adjusting the folding sequence to best suit them. Well done!

i love all your videos which i came across accidentally .The first one i tried was the hydrangea flower and my daughter challenged me to do more layers with a big paper and i could do 6 layers but the later layers are not so neat.but i enjoy every time i do any model you teach. great feeling, thanks a lot !!!!!!

Thanks for demonstrating this model. Peter shared a CP for an Octagonal gift box recently and have become a big fan... Every time I see this model I think of a thin long candle jutting out of the center, or an oil lamp inside, with the wick aflame... Would have to use Parchment and Foil to make the box....Hmm, paper and fire...how to put a battery operated fake flame in that thing.... Making a hexagon from a rectangle is way easier than from a square...thank you again for explaining.

Yeah I know what ya mean!!! I'm completely bald headed now from frustration trying to fold some of these models. I think it's a conspiracy! They have special paper that "bends to their will"!!! 😊🤪😜😁🤣

Thank you for the video! I couldn't believe it when I just saw that you made that video because a couple of days ago I worked my way through the diagram. At least to me it is a bit difficult to fold by a CP and definitely much more difficult than by a video tutorial. I really enjoy and appreciate your tutorials. There's so much to learn and to fold 😃

I love this star, but I had alot of difficulty because I started with a square paper, and in the tutorial you link for the square paper hexagon, it doesnt end up with the same creases as this video with you staring with a rectangle. So I had to guess some creases and nothing matched up in the end. Maybe it was just me, I'm not sure. Is there any way you can do a vid with this star starting with a square piece of paper?

@Happyfolding
@Happyfolding 10 лет назад
SuperFolder1 If all goes well, the instructions for December will demonstrate how to fold "Stella Pitti" designed by Francesco Mancini: www.happyfolding.com/gallery-mancini-stella_pitti As to more than that - ah, probably not. But then again, we've had the Star Bowl (Dasa Severova), Pelleas Box (Peter Keller), wrapping presents, and then Stella Pitti (Francesco Mancini). Four doesn't sound too bad to close the year, does it?

Fantastic video Sara, I must have seen it when you first released it but have never folded it... adding to my 'To Fold' playlist now :) I'm going to use one of Carmen Sprung's hexagon templates though, because I never seem to be able to crease accurate enough to get a near perfect hexagon. I'm interested to see how this will turn out with some of Julia's paper... best to test on kami or copy paper first though! I also love the paper colouring you do with pearescent/metallic acrylic paints, it looks like a wonderful way to make some cost effective, beautiful and yet, unique papers. *EDIT:* I also have the diagrams from Peter's shop, I've never properly looked at them though! I need to start making more models from diagrams as well as videos :)
@Happyfolding
@Happyfolding 7 лет назад
Did you know it's relatively easy to cut quite accurate hexagons from Julia's patterns? They usually have a 12-symmetry, so pick a distinct point and then connect every second one. Voila - perfect hexagon. :) As a side note, I also usually cut my hexagons with a template. But most people don't have templates, so I think it's nice to include an alternative.
@edwardholmes91
@edwardholmes91 7 лет назад
happyfolding.com - enjoy origami online I never really thought about doing that, but yes, that would work really easily actually :) I've just completed my test fold using some duo kraft paper. It was a little difficult to make it pop up, but like you say, I think thicker paper would be a little easier. Julia's paper is a little thicker than kami if I recall correctly? Indeed, it's always nice to know various ways of getting your starting piece of paper and particularly useful when you need shapes bigger than the templates cater for too.
@Happyfolding
@Happyfolding 7 лет назад
Yes, it's slightly thicker, but not too much. I do think it holds its shape better, which is the important part. Also, I'll probably make a video on how to cut hexagons from Julia's paper in the not too distant future. :)

I just submitted a complete English subtitle for this video as this is one of my favorite model. I am hoping to submit a Bengali subtitle soon. Thank you.
@Happyfolding
@Happyfolding 9 лет назад
asraful absar Thanks for that, they look great. It'd be nice to have a bit shorter lines, though, so that not too much of the video is covered up when enabling subtitles. Can perhaps someone help out and split some of the lines into shorter lines? That'd be fantastic. Else I'll do it, but it may take a while longer.

I have made this several times. The folds line up, but after I make it pop out, it will not stay closed. No matter what paper, it opens up. Waste of time.
@Happyfolding
@Happyfolding 6 лет назад
I'm sorry to hear that. I have used different paper types (including printer paper in the video) and never experienced the problem, so am unsure what the source of the problem is. You could try dampening the paper and holding it in place (eg with clips or so) until it dries. Perhaps then it will be more secure?
