Karen, peace and health to your family. My mother was diagnosed with lymphoma in March and we have several cases of covid in our family as well. I feel your struggle and watch you to perk me up because I know I am not alone in this crazy!

Thanks for showing the quilters knot. I can hear Grandma saying, "Honey, you know I'm just a simple country woman. I would have taught you if I'd a knowed it." She did teach much of the quilting basics, especially not overthinking mistakes. Live with what you can and fix what you must and move on.

You are a blessing and a godsend. I procrastinated until the last moment to make gifts for my Sunday school glass. Decided against bowl cozies, miscut the microwave mitts. Saw this video and went to work with my metallic Christmas fabric leftovers from a few years ago. Had interfacing and basting spray. Worked perfectly. Thank you so much. Merry Christmas.

I’m getting inspired to unload unnecessary “stuff” in my garage/sewing area. Thank you for all the inspiration. I loved the video on having a very small sewing corner. I certainly can do some of that but it’s so difficult letting go of sewing stuff I’ve acquired. My daughter and granddaughters do not sew. Ugh.

I hadn’t heard about your daughter, boy, quite a year you’ve had! I’m 74 and my husband is 77 so we have been hermits since March. 2020 was certainly a bummer for all of us. I'm on a ROLL! Made 6 of them. DIDN'T need to go out to buy anything. Have found that if you press the fabric between the folds it will help folding those points into place and then again after everything is sewn into place bf embellishments. POSSIBILITIES are endless.

I think it would be good to do two and put them back to back so if it spins then both sides are equally pretty - would give you somewhere to hide the ribbon end too...

I Praise the Lord for the cancer free for your son and we too received good news my husband is cancer free also. But he does have to do have to do immunotherapy for a year, but it raises his survival from this cancer to 90%

Thanks Karen! I accepted the challenge and made this with a 2.5" hexi acquired from a stack destined for a baby quilt, (nobody needs to know), and used beads instead of a button, because I couldn't find one small enough.

These are lovely! Since it’s more arts & crafts than sewing, I think I’ll cut out & glue some contrasting fabric (or lace) triangles under the “petals” so the poinsetta shape really stands out even when viewing from far away. With red fabric like yours, I think even wedges from a white doily would really set it off nicely. If using lace, perhaps starch or even glue to stiffen it before cutting would ensure no ravelling. Thanks for this pretty idea! I missed the livestream but made 3 of them right after I found this today. They're a great way to feature special buttons that I found in my mom's stash after she passed. I don't like to do hand work, so used the end of a 4-step buttonhole stitch on my sewing machine to do all the tacking. Also, I find it helpful to use the template on the fusible interfacing, cut that to shape and then iron it on the fabric before cutting the fabric. No overhang that way.

I lost my younger brother to covid in August. He was only 68. It was a shock as he has always been so healthy. He was the baby of the family. He was a retired postal worker so his other postal workers had a parade going past his house in lieu of a funeral. He was from Coralville Iowa.

I have to keep practicing In, I always thought it would be faster than it is actually is., Thank you for showing this,I was confused on the center but it is the center of each side.
