I was just looking at this gun. Probably be my next purchase.

It’s pretty sweet. Definitely a little envious of it. I might have to make it a matching father-son set.

Shooting this thing was crazy. Between being suppressed, the weightiness of the Ruger Mk series pistols, and the wide field of view of the Trijicon SRO… it was like cheating. I did a very primitive bore sighting just by looking through the bore of the disassembled pistol and matching the dot to what I could see on the other end. When we showed up at the range to test it out… just couldn’t miss. So sleek and smooth.

I have awesome son like you. Gave me a HK P2000 plus 5 more mags for Christmas. I am sure your Dad was happy with this. I would be. My son grew up at our gun club.

He loves it, and was definitely surprised. The P2000 is a sweet pistol. Everything good about the USP, just better.

Thank you so much, I was looking for a good rear-installed optic and your choice is excellent. Thanks for your video.

I will only add the caveat that you really need to follow the directions during installation since the two screws are similar in length, but are different and not interchangeable. A torque driver that operates in inch pounds is important as well. They’re small fasteners and the rear sight dovetail plate can be damaged if over-torqued. It’s not a difficult installation, but does require some careful attention in those aspects.

Nice project! Do you have a link or part number for the plugs? I just picked up the 22/45 Tactical and want to delete the pic rails as well.

They are Ruger item number 61176. They come as a set of four. Since they don’t bottom out they don’t really “tighten”. I recommend a small bit of blue thread locker, then just seat them to slightly past flush. You get a good aesthetic result and it will protect the threaded holes from damage or debris.

Wouldn’t anything you build yourself be custom. Isn’t it short for customer specified. You get custom items from businesses. Anything you configure yourself is automatically custom.

Sure, but in the sense this is a Christmas gift for my dad and tailored specifically to his needs rather than just getting him something as it came off the shelf, I would say it is “custom”.
