I have the new Mk3 GMT in 38mm (thin wrist-ed) and it's great. I'm also in the minority in thinking the font and placement of the text looks rather nice! I prefer it to the previous iterations. Couldn't believe how feature rich and practical the bracelet was, in addition to the insane 600m depth rating they were known for. CW divers did nothing for me before, but the new design really turned me around. I didn't like the older dial with the wave pattern and tear drop handset; things that made the watch stand out, but more for the sake of it than the result of refining. I like that they reined the design in and made something that looks much more cohesive and attractive, imo.
I'm with you on the logo Rob, I think it balances the dial nicely and isn't as in your face with daily wear. The handset also gets some hate but there's no mistaking one for the other...an essential characteristic of a dive watch. If I didn't already have a C65 GMT I'd have no hesitation in picking this up. Great review as always, thanks.
i see a well balanced dial with the date and logo being opposite each other. The bracelet looks pretty much perfect for me. I don’t see anything negative! Those features under &1,000 is a win! Thank you for a thorough review of an awesome watch!
Completely agree. I was never that keen on the polished centre links on the MK2, but this new bracelet with the micro adjustment looks perfect for me, as does 40mm.
I didn't like the new logo at 9 o'clock while the 12 o'clock was bare. The symmetry was way off. But, with the Twin Flag motif now taking the 12 o'clock position, all looks fine to me. The dial is nicely balanced, the handset looks superb, beautiful applied hour markers, and the ceramic bezel is a standout (even moreso than previous models). The bracelet and clasp are just superb. I'll be getting one of these shortly. Knockout watch!
I really like the redesign of these. The great thing about CW is that always have a sale in the fall and you will be able to pick one up used at a good price as well...if they don't send you one in for review. Thank you for a fantastic review Rob :)
Thanks for the review. Good job! It's this or the Oris Aquis, both 40mm and, I think for the money, this one wins. Only wish the bracelet had screws in links.
I have the older 38mm one and it's damn near better than my black bay. I want the new 40mm black and or the 38mm blue GMT. Their bracket is the best at the price. Sucks to adjust bit it's perfect comfortable.
There just isn't any competition out there in sub 1000 category. I can't find anything with this quality and "Submariner" design. Everything is over 1k or under 500.
Mauricio Mda Mauricio, you have to order directly from The Christopher Ward website christopherward.com you won’t regret it I just got mine and it is even better in person.
I don't think even Seiko gives better value for your dollar that CW does. My Mk1 C60 GMT is my favorite watch. When I bought it new in 2012 I was deciding between that, an SMP300, and a Longines Hydroconquest. The finishing on the CW was as good if not better than the Omega and the Longines, and IMO the design is the nicest of the three. At a price between 1/2 and 1/3 the bigger brands. I may have to spring for this Mk3 model now...
I also prefer new logo rather than the old one. The new logo looks very fresh, especially double flags. I'm going to but new MK3, but the blue one. Didn't decide yet which one to buy: with silicone or bracelet? Could you please advice?
I just can’t wear a watch branded a person’s first and last name on the dial. Wish they left the name off and used the Neptune fork as the logo. Love the black ink look.
@@davidhoskins6799 just looked at a very nice Raymond Weil, but it was ruined but the name dominating the dial. It looked very tacky and liked a uber cheap fashion watch. That's why I don't own RW, ML, FF to name just a few.
This is a great watch and spot on with the dimensions. I’ve gone from liking the old chr ward logo to liking this new style more. It certainly doesn’t put me off.
Love my MkII, hoping to pick up a MkIII, CW and their short & long term plans imho are steps in the right direction for watch enthusiast offering compelling watches at reasonable prices. The recent live streams, printed inhouse materials and YT clips & SM approach worked on me made me a fan, thanks for your reviews, enjoy the channel a lot.
I ordered a 38mm mk3 about two weeks ago Christopher Ward didn’t include the Necessary document for import and my $1000 watch got stuck in customs. I have been in contact with Christopher Ward every day and each Time they give me another excuse but nothing happens two more days and DHL will be forced to return my watch if that happened I will be asking for a refund. I feel like once they got my $910 I no longer matter. If you read their customer service reviews you will see they seem to have a problem recently. I was really was excited about the watch and now I’m not sure I want it. Thanks Christopher Ward.
Good to know, first I have heard of it. They did a good job with it. Really think they should have dropped the “c1” as we all tend to think that is weak.
Nice watches but overhyped and that shocking name on the dial. They must be doing a very good advertising job cause their are plenty of other deserving brands out there.
13.2 mm thick. 600 meter water resistant. Micro adjustable clasp on the fly. Very accurate. Great bracelet. 40 mm. Not breaking the bank. What was your question???
It was a pleasure to watch this video as usual.CW ,I don't know if I had it said before, makes better bracelets than Oris . As you demonstrated here you can easily adjust by just sliding the micro adjustment slider which is awesome .As a Sinn fan and enthusiast ,I have to say that Sinn designers should take some lessons how to make a bracelet folding clasp if they insist on why they do with Sinn EZM ,103,104, 206 Arktis Series .Good news , those aforementioned models come with the similar type of push buttons on the clasp sides but those sadly apply for rubber strap variants only
Excellent review! I have the old style 38mm gmt, wave dial with center logo, and it took a while, but I get the new look, and just ordered this exact watch. I really like the new sword hands and the 9:00 logo actually balances out the dial with the 3:00 date.On my old style CW the bracelet is top quality, the crown screws in smooth as silk. The Mk3 is simply beautiful, with an elegance that makes it a dressy sport watch. CW makes superb watches that punch way over their weight and price. You have to own one to really appreciate them. I doubt these will be the last CW’s in my collection.
Is it me or is the bezel misaligned. I've just bought a C60 trident Pro and it has a misaligned bezel and dust on the underside of the crystal. Hopefully I'll get a replacement or should I look at something else?
I think people need to accept now that the new logo and branding looks better. So much fuss was made but for me not only does it look good now, but the old watches look dated, big time
Watch looks good, I just don't like the Christopher Ward text at the 9 o'clock. The name is too long and it gives the watch that fashion brand aesthetics. Inappropriate for a dive/tool watch.
New watch and it vibrates when wounded. Watch returned and I was told that's the norm though I don't see it in reviews. When returned it took a month after saying it was mailed. Consumer services was awful. Oh, I noticed the 5 year warranty is only good if it was serviced between 2-3 years. Otherwise the watch is ok. More dressy than tough/ tool like.
I'm thinking of getting one, so please tell me more about any vibrating problem. This is the first I'm hearing of it. Especially if they said that it's normal, please describe in more detail what you are talking about.
Imo one of the best clasps and bracelets. I really like the old Mk1 logo and the Bremont hands and wish they would just return to that. I hate the 9 o'clock full logo - Like many who seem to agree. The full name ....? An applied Ch.Ward or CW at 12 would be great! I don't care for the hour hand -center prong/trident style hour hand? I get it but it just seems narrow and the multifaceted angles don't really work for me- to similar to the Seiko SBDC051.
Before buyinng annnythinng from this brand have a look on the after sales feedback, I have heard of this companny hanging up the phone on costumers face!
@@davidhoskins6799 Gotcha...They have been getting alot of press on the youtube pages it seems..and i just really dont see it..but I guess when the details get broken down on the watch,,still I can prob buy some other brands for same price
Got me interested, but don't need another watch rtight now, ordered a pre-owned Speedmaster from a reliable source, did my home, used by members of the Omega seamaster group on FB , only mistake which could have cost me about $100, got the jewelry stores name and phone number and called, they ARE an Omega AD and initially sold the watch. I don't need the best speedy, I just love them, I can live with 39mm and it being a few years old but from pic's looks good and live within driving distance of their store. I bet if I went direct, could have saved about $100.00. But also triple protected from Ebay, Paypal and American Express. Peace of mind helps. I did look at the CW you've shown, price viewed the range and not sure if I would have wanted all black, or a red bezel. did see the GMT versions, have a few GMT watches and honestly I'm glad I have them but it's a function I would rarely use and rather pocket the several hundred in going for the standard watch in 42mm. They aren't going anywhere nor am I. If I feel the same next week, then maybe.
It still is overpriced! Off the shelf movement, still can't figure out the handset and logo. If you still like it pick it up at 50% or more cheaper on ebay when these get dumped. CW must have gave 100 of these away to watch channels as freebies hoping for good reviews. CW is part of the mid-tier pack trying to sell watches as a luxury brand. Save a bit more and get a Omega.
Yes they did give them away to many channels, that’s how it works much of the time. They however did not give me one, I borrowed this one. Omega would be a good jump for sure, for many this is already a stretch and still worth it.
