@Kwang_Ko in fairness, Chrom already gets a skill that makes chain attacks near guaranteed to hit at higher bond levels because the accuracy of chain attacks is still calculated with Engage's sine rng. The default 80% is ~91%, while the 90% from charm is closer to 96% or so
I actually had received a different response that all chain attack does indeed become 100% accurate so I'll need to dig it up myself. I am honestly more willing to believe that all chain attack does become 100% because well... the description is more geared towards that way but who knows.
@@Takumi_Did_Nothing_Wrong I actually don't ship Chrom/Robin at all (though if I did it'd be with Male Robin, supports are MUCH better), but I do think M!Alear and Alfred is nice. I'm in this weird minority in that I always saw Chrom and Robin's relationship as entirely platonic with no romantic chemistry at all, though it could just be because I hate how much Sumia gets crapped on. (Both by rival shippers AND the developers themselves. Denied for Warriors, no alts in Heroes.)
Didn’t expect to see this as a video so soon after I pointed it out. It’s kinda just a funny little quirk due to the devs coding the skill in a funky way and probably not testing this very specific scenario, since Alfred can’t even chain attack by default. I remember seeing this online somewhere at first, so I had to test it myself (don’t remember where I saw it exactly), but the amount of time I spent digging around in the datamine dumps certainly helped in figuring out the reason based on internal names
Yeah that's what I thought: it's unlikely they tested for this since it's out of Alfred's default class. You'd think they'd use "If unit's name = rufure" not "if unit's name CONTAINS rufure" though.
I remember reading about this, don’t remember if it was from that comment or a post from somewhere else, but that is highly comical. You’d expect to see something like this in an older game, like how old fighting games have some insane jank, so seeing it in a game as modern as Engage is super bizarre. Edit: Actually, now that I realize it, this has some really funny implications for modding. I bet Nel’s personal skill might work in a similar way too.
I don't know if anyone else in the army has "Iru" in their internal name. And I highly doubt anyone post-recruitment has "rafaaru" in their name. So probably not.
Huh? Just….HUH!? This is so specific….and also incredibly funny, I understand why nobody caught this in testing but it’s still hilarious this slipped through the cracks. Like this isn’t a big deal but….I do wonder what other weird things happen with the other emblem rings that we don’t know about.
I find it interesting that instead of going "unit named robin attacks twice" it seems to be "unit whose name includes the name robin attacks twice". Shouldnt it then also work if alear was named robins japanese name?
It would be very funny. But maybe it takes into considerations the internal names and Alear's one is something like "Main Character". I know nothing about code though so it could be everything really
A-ru-fu-re-do Ru-fu-re so the game looks for the name Ru-Fu-Re and if it finds it, it activates, and the code seems to check the japanese internal names, not the translated ones. You can't spell Alfred without Robin makes no sense in english. hahaha
So something I find really funny about this is how many coincidences that had to come together to make since even possible and how this only really makes sense due to how Japanese works. As while Alfred is still his name in the Japanese version and would officially be spelled the same way it is in English, but since Japanese ad far as I know doesn’t have specific characters that make the sounds for foreign words when written, hence they can only approximate, making his name even when written down being pronoiced differently than here and in accordance to how Japanese people would pronounce thise sounds. Hence even directly translating English names into Romanji leads to something different than what is intended And while Robins Japanese name isn’t a proper noun, Reflet is Japanese for Reflection but the characters used and hence the romanisation ends up being oart of Alfred’s Japanese name, when these words in English characters don’t have the same letters in the same order and aren’t even pronounced the same. Including the fact that I assume like the name Charlot the T is silent in Reflet. But even then this would have fallen part if they had presumedly chosen to use anything apart from a check for those specific characters. There could be other ways to check, like linking it to checking if the user is Engaged with Chrom. And this oversight relying on translating foreign words reminds me of a thought I had recently. Being that SMT, a game that uses figures from multiple mythologies and cultures but is made by a Japanese company I feel would have voice actors doing work for them pronounce it as a Japanese person would, rather than trying for accuracy in pronunciation For example in SMT V Vengeance Daily Demond trailers, both Krudlak and Kresnik are pronounced with a Ku syllable at the end. Which I have noticed is common with foreign words that end in K in Japanese voice actor. Even though being from Eastern Europe that wouldn’t be how their names are pronounced. It also funnily means that I noticed that Kresnik funnily contains the Japanese word for Meat, hence showing Kresnik eating a steak as a joke, something that I could see happening doesn’t make much sense unless you know how his name is pronounced and a specific Japanese word. But funnily it is a joke you could localise, Kresnik is a vampire in some depictions m and if it was a rare steak, it would be a joke about him eating something that has blood in it and the Stake/Steak pun.
Well this was a fun little demonstration. Thanks to SteelPoke for informing you of this so we can get this showcase. In other news, continuing my run of Trails From Zero. Probably half way through Chapter 2 now. A bit behind of where I want to be since I got a bit more invested in picking up a challenge run I'm doing for something else, but don't worry Trails Fans, I'm still aiming to hopefully get this game done not only before the year's end, but also hopefully before TTYD and SMT5 V distracts me.
It feels weird to see a Fire Emblem that isn't Fates on my end. Good to hear you are making good progress through Chapter 2 as well. I also hope that challenge run is also going well. I didn't mention my brother before but we have been having fun watching Kingdom and also making random tier lists. The last one was about the RPGs he played and there are some "interesting" takes on his part. I could share it but I am worried about people reacting very negatively to his opinions. He also started another Conquest playthrough with the goal being to turbo Silas' S Support which can be done before Chapter 10 thanks to the Private Quarters and then playing the paralogue which won't be easy but the reward of capturing Nichol and some of the generic Wyvern Lord reinforcements will be worth it. As for myself, Rev is going fine and all of the reclassing I have been planning is going smoothly. For Gran Turismo 4, things have been going well with the events I have decided to compete in and I had some pretty good racing against some decently difficult foes in some of those races as well. We are also earning a good amount of money and some decent prize cars too. Something I forgot to mention last time was I reached 25% completion which gives you the Audi Nuvolari Quattro but also allows you to compete in endurance races which I will think about later since some of these endurance races can be very long and I need to do a good amount of preparations for some of those longer ones. The shorter ones might be a consideration soon if I feel up to them.

The Kingdom bit I remember you saying last time, but the tier list stuff is news to me. Won't pry into his opinions just in case it starts something, but that is still notable. Also yeah, a Silas S-Support before Chapter 10 seems very feasible. Also that map has reinforcements? Huh, must have forgotten about them. That said, turboing that paralouge for early Nichol and Wyvern Lords makes sense, especially if it's on Lunatic and Nichol gets his more absurd base stats for that point in the game. And good to hear on your end with the Rev LP going well. Likewise with GT4, even more so now that I know you're at 25% completion. That said, because you are at 25% completion, I now realize just how much I underestimated 100%ing it would be. Knew it was going to take a lot, but the fact we're at 25% only given your stellar track record with these really shows how much of a journey it is to 100% this game. At the very least, the game was kind enough to give you the Quattro for making it that far and how naturally that opens up so much for you to do. Best of luck with the prep work for any of the longer races and any work with the shorter ones if you do those first.
@@jaredfayette2567 I am really locked in with Fates' mechanics now especially with my brother's many playthroughs of Conquest as well. I did find the game he put at the top very fascinating. I am just worried around about a certain popular game around here since he really doesn't like it. The green units generally reach Nichol before a lot of the reinforcements spawn so you need to put your units near Nichol so a green unit doesn't end their turn in his attack range. If you do let the green units escape, you can spend as much time on the map as possible. On my brother's end, due to how early he will do it and some of the promoted enemies being very rough to deal with, he isn't going to worry about the green units safety. He is only playing on Hard by the way. I think I am roughly 30-40 hours in terms of game time and creeping up on 30% now as well, so it is going to be a long way to go.
I actually saw this on Twitter as well, this actually makes Chrom a better Emblem than I gave him credit for. Alfred and Alear are best bros and Husband and Wife. Edit: I finally recruited the 8th Dragon Quest 11 party member. It was well worth the wait. Edit: Lucina is the not the central protagonist of Awakening, Chrom is. Even still, Lucina is a character who acts as an emotional foil to Chrom. More importantly, Lucina is the descendant of Marth, who happens to be Alear’s most associated Emblem.

Does this work if Alfred is accessing chain attacks through the Lucina? Would be interesting given that the prologue cutscene suggests that he is the canon user of her ring
