30+ years as an Internist & this is the BEST explanation of anemia of chronic disease I've ever come across. Thank you! PS: Ferritin is also known as an "acute phase reactant", a body of proteins that are elevated in the serum as a result of any inflammatory process. Just like ESR & CRP. So, it stands to reason that ferritin will be elevated in ACD which is also known as anemia of chronic inflammation.

yeah exceot that she keeps saying it is a disease but if you look up the definition of anemia it is NOT a disease but a symptom of an underlying condition

My ferritin is low, iron serum is high and iron saturation is high. Last year all 3 were low until I started taking iron pills. I wish I knew which one is the problem

I have a question I hope you don't mind answering I just started getting my iron infusions I need two iron infusions every week for 2 months. And I haven't seen anyone post this so I'm going to probably be the only fool to ask this but for some strange reason I got extremely emotional on my first one and yesterday I had my 3rd and I started crying like a baby I couldn't control that it was insane I had no control I kept crying crying crying and was wondering if this is a symptom and if so why. My symptoms include trouble breathing Headache nausea that the typical symptoms you have written down also I can't seem to drive long distances is that normal

It is normal that you cried. No medical person is going to explain what happened there. Because we are very unique and we have different reactions to different things. But if you like to have a holistic explanation, you have it here: I have a feeling that your body was so craving for iron that when it got it, it was so much of a relief that it send this huge emotional wave through you. The other explanation is much more deeper. If you do not know why you have iron deficiency, sometimes traumas can trigger for your body and it refuses to take the iron in. It can have something to do with a family, sustenance and abundance (also family lineages). What ever it was, it might have been fixed by this huge infusions of iron and that caused those huge emotional waves to be released. Body effects the mind/emotions and visa versa. I know, maybe you think this a little wacky explanation, but life is much more wondrous than we are lead to believe. Not everything can be explained scientifically yet. Trust your feelings and emotions to be always correct and right 💕💖💕

Joni K. Could you actually answer the question though because I'm curious too
@alyshiaguan6472
@alyshiaguan6472 6 лет назад
no, generally if the cause of anemia isn’t iron deficiency, then the intake of iron won’t help to increase hemoglobin levels or generate normal red blood cell count and size
