I had chronic hives almost every day for 5 months, anaphylactic reactions, tachycardia constantly, angio edema, reacted to antibiotics, random foods, water ect. I was on 2 Pepcid a day, 2 xyzal a day and then started xolair 3 months later no hives, rarely get rashes and itching is rare. I’m still on xolair…also in the beginning of the hives I had severe diarrhea and ended up diagnosed with eosinophilic colitis with colon biopsy treated with prednisone which cleared it up…I am no longer taking antihistamines or h2 meds just xolair…it took so many doctors and researching for myself, being hospitalized and losing 20% of my body weight to be diagnosed and taken seriously…the flares are awful…from colon biopsy diagnosed with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome due to the amount of mast cells in my colon.I do not know any underlying cause. Allergy tests, rheumatology tests, food elimination none of these brought answers…xolair has made me have little to no symptoms

Hello from Greece.Thank you for the helpful content!My 16 year - old son was diagnosed with cholinergic urticaria last March but he started having symptoms (milder) about a year ago.Our allergist mentioned a strong correlation between his infection with Covid(twice) followed by three other viral infections and the cholinergic urticaria .Currently he is on antihistamines double the dose of that for adults.We are in the middle of a heatwave right now so it only partially eases the symptoms.Next step recommended by our allergist is biologics(xolair) which I am highly sceptical about.Thanks again for the valuable content!

Hi Gary here I live Canada and I think I have chronic urticaria until I heard Dr Marcus Maurer say, you don't get swelling of the tongue. I do and in the throat and all over my body welts just confused now don't know what to eat its crazy missing work with swelling in my face lips eyes just waiting for it to go away I had it now for three years . Thank you for every thing your doing
@Sarahlepsy
@Sarahlepsy Год назад
Hi Gary. I think what he means is that it's not the same deep tissue swelling that one would experience with an allergy or anaphylaxis. The swelling in chronic urticaria would be more surface, so there is no risk of suffocation.

Hi good day, this is interesting but it seems I have a different case. I started on June 23 and I was gonna wait for 2 years. But I was so bad offered Olizumab. I am on my 2nd treatment. , 4 times Fexafendin which does not work. Since my 2nd injection. I have been on steroids for 6 weeks because it doesn't get better but worse. I do not want steroids but I cannot live without them at all. I changed my diet to fasting. My specialist says if my 3rd injection doesn't work then they have to move me to immunosuppression. Pls help next injection this month. No life here

Very interesting! Nobody has mentioned going up to 4 tablets of histamine. I’ve been to a dermatologist, allergist, my rheumatologist(I have RA) I’ve had chronic hives for 4 months. Not one Dr has helped me. I’m seeing a new dermatologist this week. I cannot get any help! Depression, anxiety, frustration is very high! Rheumatologist put me on a different med for lupus. But says not 💯 sure it’s another autoimmune disease yet🤦‍♀️ I’m on steroid and it’s not helping. But not one Dr has helped me! Every time I go in my rash is not there. So I get no treatments. Suffering in silence, my life has been put on hold.

Please, don’t feel depressed. I’ve got chronic hives that isn’t going away for a year now from catching that ___t Covid. One thing I noticed however, is the environment you’re in could be the trigger. I also noticed it was hanging around because of my job environment. Consider your place of residence or work place to be the trigger.

My daughter is 16 and she has been fighting hives, almost daily since she was three. She was diagnosed with chronic idiopathic urticaria and dermagraphic urticaria. She takes two allergy pills with an antacid every morning and the same every night. She takes benadryl as needed. She used lotions and hydroxicine as needed. It affects her life every single day. She has had to be taken to the ER more than a few times when the "flare ups" are bad. That is when her mouth swells, her feet and hands swell, and the hives are welts big as baseballs over her body. What can be done? What else can we do? She is miserable, and her quality of life is greatly affected by this. She may miss out on getting into early college because of her attendance at school. She is a straight A student but misses school 1 day every week or so. She doesn't know what life is like without hives and being miserable in her skin.

My hives were the same way. When I was working the night shift, they came during the day. I switched to days, and they came at night, or anytime I was feeling very sleepy. My thought is that it has to do with the circadian rhythm and the hormones involved there.

@Sarahlepsy Месяц назад
@MamaMia914 Agreed. I was disappointed that he isn't very open about diet and lifestyle changes as I have seen that help so many. It's great that he is doing research on this condition, but his studies are funded by pharmaceutical companies, so that's his focus. Medications can be a great tool when quality of life is really impacted, and I am not anti med, but I don't believe that it is a great long-term solution. As you said, these medications are not without risks and side effects.

Hello I have Hashimoto disease and often get hives and angiodema but was told it’s a side effect of the disease are you saying it’s a separate disease? My Doctor only offers fexofenadine but has warned me I will have more risk of dementia also they don’t work.
@Sarahlepsy
@Sarahlepsy Год назад
If your thyroid is not well controlled, it can cause hives, but CSU is a separate disease and a common co-disease of Hashimotos. I would try to find a Ucare center near you for proper diagnosis and treatment. Check the description for the link to find a clinic. If you don't have a center in your area, I would try to get an immunologist to assess your situation.
