Hey man, I've recently finished the platinum for Hundred Hereos and am now looking for a follow up game that isn't too long or grindy and thought I'd finally give Chrono Cross a try. I've always been a bit ... I wouldn't say scared or intimidated, but something similar to it by this game because it seems really hard to approach with the spells, the combat system, the field effects and all that jazz, but I feel like your videos made it a bit better, so I'm a bit more confident for both finishing the game and getting the platinum. Thanks for all the videos and keep up the good work. 👍
I really appreciate you making this video! I feel like older games didn’t quite explain game mechanics like this well. I hope you get to a 1000 and more!!
Just a random thought. Another great way to get some Shiny materials is from the three different Status Effect preventing caps that you can either steal or have dropped from specific enemies, some of which are actually encountered VERY early on! The notable ones are the pink gloops you find in some of the early areas near viper manor, the bats on the climb up the side of the manor aka where the falling rocks were, and the bugs in the well of viper manor. The easiest to get is the Poultice Caps which are a common steal from the Mama Dogs in the Fossil Road place in Home World aka the road that connects the area between the starting village & Viper Manor. This is the same cap that is a rare drop from the pink gloop thingies that you can face far earlier. These are all the easiest ones that I know of. You can also get antiviral caps as a common steal from the Spearfisher enemies that you encounter way later.
Well… I plan to make content about that too. Eventually. For now, I’m just sitting here with my newly raised ayato, yunjin, and venti. Oh, and… f2p for me
Once you get the yellow plate you can fight the Chrisosphynx(sp) on Earth Dragon Isle and stock up on Earthquake and Thunda Storm. He uses multiple spells in a row so he will heal you too. Dont worry about your other two party members dying but if you really want the best chance make the other two yellow innates. Great video! Thanks for consistent and in depth guides and information. My completionist/OCD brain really enjoys them.
You can also get Earthquakes pretty easily & VERY early by stealing them from the centipede enemies in the Home world Hydra Marshes. You can get them before you're even able to buy any Trap elements.
Corrections/Additions: 1. Cuscus DOES copy summon elements. So I suppose if you want two copies, that's the way to get them. Good luck getting Cuscus to cast them, though! 2. Criosphinx is a good source of earthquake and thundastorm; just equip the yellow plate to make the fight a little more comfortable. 3. Totalchaos in the dimensional vortex is a great source for blackhole for sprigg. 4. Gerridae in shadow forest is a great source for deluge for Sprigg.
Has anyone confirmed that Cuscus will in fact cast a Summon that you cast? How do you get it to cast it? Like what is it about it that makes it so unlikely for Cuscus to cast it?
I got mothership from the first cat by the south entrance. Just kept hitting defend for 2 or 3 turns and got it. Did not have the same luck with unicorn from a random dodo though
You have been absolutely rocking the content in a way no other creator is doing! Congrats, hoping for your first 1k soon, and more lots of k's to come!
Don't know about the remaster, but Bulb from Home World (Shadow Forest) cast sonja. He needs to be alone or only companions are other bulbs, if I remember correctly.
Am pretty sure CusCus cannot be found in Another World's Shadow Forest, unless I'm missing something. I've fully explored it & there's no such enemy as far as I'm aware, unless it starts spawning there later in the game or something.
Question. Once an Element has been trapped in a battle, can the trap be set a 2nd time and cast by the enemy a 2nd time in the same battle? Meaning can you actually trap the same spell multiple times in a single fight?
Yes! As long as the enemy casts it again. Summons, however, will not be cast by an enemy if you already have a copy from what I’ve seen in my playthroughs. It might be possible to manipulate it otherwise.
I would love it if you'd explain what the Player - Color thing means and the Enemy - No thing. It's not mentioned at all in this vid. What do those things mean?
That's actually not QUITE true that everything above Level 4 must be trapped, as most of the Level 5 Elements can actually be stolen from certain enemies. A good example of this is Earthquake which can be gotten quite early from the Centipede enemies at Home Hydra Marshall via their rare steal. Level 6 and above though must be trapped.
I assume these rules only apply later in the game, as Centaurpedes definitely didn't cast Golem early on in the game, as you can most definitely fight them very early well before you even turn into Lynx. They actually make for a really good source of money early on and of Earthquakes which happens to be their rare steal. Not the trap but the actual Earthquake element is stealable from them, and early!
Cuscus is good to know, also Bulb in home world can cast Sonja as well. I prefer that just b/c getting to Gaea's Navel is annoying. Also guys, in remaster, the Viper Glitch for getting multiple Dragoon's glory doesn't work anymore. We gotta grind money the hard way now, FUNNN!
You can also just steal Earthquakes from the Centaurpede enemies via their rare steal. Takes some patience to get them that way but can be gotten SUPER early! Earlier than literally any other Level 5 element as far as I'm aware.
@@tantacles Glad to hear that you feel that way. I get quite passionate about this stuff sometimes & am glad to hear it doesn't offend. Been watching all of your Chrono Cross content lately. Love your Swagu lol. You've definitely earned yourself a new Subscriber.
Are the spell that we trapped stay with us forever? Or it is just 1 time use? every spell is consumable stuffs in this game? just like FF8 draw system?
hey man, can I trap and get more than one Red Wolf/Sonja/Golem...? I got only one of each level 7/summons but the monsters dose not use it any more? why? I try to scape and come back ... same, I can't have 2xRed Wolf/Sonja/Golem?
actually I just watched your White element video... lol it literally cant do damage so no shinies are made, LOL, ok, I get it. waste a summon for pure 100% support when really one of the main functions of a summon is for shinies. I never paid attention to that. Yeah the buff is nice, but no damage I guess I just pushed it out of my mind when farming
