Just wanted to pop in to say that, no, you do not need Sprigg's dopplegang to recruit Janice. You can, in fact, get her with only the base monsters, you just have to rely on instakills.
Agreed. Round 1: crossbones and two Randoms- kill the bull with instant kill Round 2- Lagoonate and kick the harpoon dude. Used a goblin too for carnivore. Round 3- wraith, punching lion guy and umbrella dude. Kill the flying bone guy 1st. Gg you did it. Also, run away if the instakill doesnt work and try again. The bull is annoying.
Mediocre is overselling that grid, it's terrible, but dopplegang is so good she's amazing anyway, especially since all her monster forms have absurd accuracy, letting you spam level 3 attacks constantly. On hard hitting forms like lagoonate or wight knight this absolutely shreds boss's health bars, though you do have to watch out for her low hp.
No wonder I thought it was ridiculously difficult, I didn't know you could add monsters to the list with sprig. It took me 8 or 9 tries but I ended up getting lucky with hell soul/hellbound for the win.
There's definitely several things you've missed, boiled down to enemies in Home World and Another World that have the same name have different dopplegangs. This means that most of the creatures you listed have two different dopplegangs, where you did not define which one of those dopplegangs you meant.
Something I learn on my recent playthrough on Radical Dreamers is that you don't need Sprigg on your party to get Monsters. Any character equiped with the Forget-me-not equiped that deal the finish blow will capture them. I found this by accident when I was using Lenna, Glenn and Serge (all equiped with fgm) on Ozzie, Slash and Flea and got all 3.
Just to add, you can get a second Forget-Me-Not Pot by stealing it from Peppor when you fight them on the Isle of the Damned (this could technically be the FIRST one you get, as you can face them before going to Chronopolis).
Despite knowing about Spring already, these videos are always fun to watch. Esp when I still learn new things. Such as equipment values and new game + things. 😮😍
Not only did you prove to me Sprigg is top tier, you've given me a desire to re-run my game of Chrono Cross. Why? To immediately go to the Isle of the Damned ASAP as Lynx. If she ends up better than Karsh / Glenn for me or up there, I'll consider her status in the tier list. Super hype video thanks for all the awesome tips on the Forget-Me-Not-Pot. I got 2 in my first play through and used Karsh to kill creatures and steal their info for Sprigg. I mainly used Sprigg to abuse CusCus early on. Now she's got a lot more going for her than I thought!
You only have to kill a monster once, & regular enemies are mostly pretty weak. Even the slightly tougher enemies are easy to catch if you pay attention - every enemy has an 'injured' stance they adopt at low health and that's the sign for Sprigg to dopple back to normal form (if necessary) and throw out a tornado. Bosses are where your strength matters, and bosses can't be captured anyway, so you're free to dopple into lagoonate or taurminator or wight knight or what have you and wreck face. Sprigg takes set up, and knowledge, but absolutely kicks butt when you know what you're doing. Definitely worth another run to give her a try.
I kept sprigg in my party until I got kid back, she’s awesome! I only replaced her with kid cause it felt more thematic, and I wasn’t about to let Fargo go, sooo…sorry sprigg
Great video again! You basically covered everything I think is needed! I always just try to add these comments with things I know from speedrunning the game (which actually is sometimes less than some casual playthroughs since a lot of the running the game is specific to a route everytime haha). But just to add what I know from using Sprigg in the run, in case it helps anyone reading: Firstly, the 2 dopplegangs we use in the speedrun are Lagoonate and WightKnight (2 of the good ones mentioned; And yeah, Wightknight is good enough for awhile that it is worth for us to still get it even though its optional!) . Also, You touched on it in the video as well, but yeah, Gauntlets and other accesorries dont boost anything on Sprigg's dopplegangs stats (they always revert to a static value when dopplenganged into)! This comes into play for the next things; We use Sprigg's dopplegang for like hours 2.5-4.5 in the 7~ hour run. This is because when we are first able to get Sprigg, Lagoonate (and soon after, Wightknight) are such powerful physical-based dopplegangs (seriously, they are so good for how early you can get them). However, we end up stopping our use of Sprigg's dopplegang towards the back-half because of the static value thing. After we get the Mastermune with Lynx/Serge, that outscales the damage Wightknight even does (cause it doesnt grow with levels!). But, for casual use, there is a lot of really cool and powerful things Sprigg's Dopplegangs can do!
Great video as usual! You can also get infinite Dragoons Glory with the Viper Lvl 7 tech glitch in Termina but really if youve got sunglasses and the two regular Dragoons Glory it isn't strictly necessary unless you also want Viper to have 3 lvl 7 Techs.
Sprigg equipped with the Forgetmenot Pot is SS tier & always makes it into all my teams. Why? For her ability to copy OZZY, SLASH & FLEA (the 3 hidden bosses in New Game + from the original Chrono Trigger). In fact, the only time I swap out Fargo for Glenn (or Serge) is when I want Sprigg to morph into SLASH & use the ONLY TRIPLE TECH MOVE IN THE GAME with Glenn & Serge. 😁
There's two triple techs in CC, the other being Delta Force with Serge, Leena and Razzly. Missed opportunity for them to not add another so that there would be three triple techs and have it be a reference of sorts.. It would have also lined up with triple techs only having a third of what double techs have as there are nine double ones.
I manged to get the Wight Knight dopplegang and it absolutely demolished Miguel, made that fight so easy. Was doing nearly 300 damg per hit with level 3 melee attacks
She is something of a glass cannon. Still worth investing the time and attention in for her strength and flexibility. defensive buffs, particularly phys & mag negate, go a long way, and thankfully wight knight even comes with phys negate. They don't last long, but at the rate Sprigg can put out damage, that's not much of a problem.
Remaster OP, click the right stick and you evade every single attack and max element level at all times. You know, if having Janice is more important than feeling any pride about how you got her.
So hold on.... I always thought the glasses reduced the damage you take, not increased the damage you deal. Is this true for both the Sun and Moonglasses or are they different?
@@tantaclesam trying to figure this out.. I just got into S.S. Zelbess quest, where I will become a cat... I really forget about this game, but thanks I will try to steal from from Peppor boss very late game, I will 'capture' all monster....
It's not criminal, it's just that she's not very sexy XD I was thinking of this game today as an example of collectivism versus individualism. In the Kaliyuga, the 'Chrono cross field effect' would be 2 parts fear what others think, to 1 part stand out if you want, but it's a turn off. Whereas in the Satyayuga, it's just the opposite. Most people are strange and powerful in such times, like Sprigg, however again, with so little focus on narcissistic ideals... not a lotta hotties around. Maybe, I'm still working on that part. Anyway, I think the field effect is real. That's why all things conformity wins the battle in our age, while in golden times, it was peoples uniqueness that got them their spoils. When it starts getting dark, you can't win the war with more tanks. The cumulative effect of the age is to go along to get along. You CAN however win it with printing presses, as has been shown. It's not so much about good versus evil, as it is about fate keeping things changing, so they don't end up like the Dead sea TV studio, a stagnant tomb. So many great parallels in games. Thanks for the video, I needed a place to put this contemplation.
