You're the only channel I know of that Chronos sent a camera to that actually uses it. Thanks for the hours of entertainment and enjoyment that you and Chronos have given me. If you're interested Linus Tech Tips has a factory tour of the Chronos facility and staff. I wish I could donate to the channel but times are real tight at the moment. Keep the content coming and I'll do my best to support such a good channel when I can.
Awesome HS camera and the only one I've ever recommended, It's great to see independent people making good products and offering superb support / revisions / updates.
I think the greatest achievement from the manufacturer is that he made a competing product at a fraction of the cost. Now he keeps making it better and better. Competition in the market is always a good thing.
It's quite a story. David loses an auction for a HS camera on ebay and decides to make his own. David is probably the most driven person I have ever known. He's unstoppable.
That camera has definitely been a huge improvement to the channel since you’ve started using it. And props to Chronos for not trying to milk out every possible dollar on proprietary chargers, batteries, and lenses like pretty much every other camera manufacturer
Super cool at 5 am. Always wanted to see how you work your magic. Your soundtracks are always gooey and fun and you THANK the musicians. Super cool again!
Dave is pretty amazing. Especially considering he did all his prototyping by himself, in his garage. Then there's the fact that he's standing behind every camera he and his shop makes like a brick wall, fixing and upgrading whatever needs it. As if all that weren't enough, I don't think there's anything on the market that can touch it at his price point. All in all, it's pretty amazing anyway you look at it. Blows my mind what he did
Awesome review! After getting burned by ordering a set of FPS1000's through the backerkits page for 3D usage; I decided to wait and get the feel of seasoned Chronos users regarding the overall cameras performance before I once again attempt vesting into the high-speed camera domain. Your video is insightful and places both the Chronos cameras and Kron Technologies itself into favorable light. Thank you for spending the time to make this follow up review.
I really liked the shot on the tank, what a good hit. If it wasn't for your camera, we wouldn't get to see all the amazing things that some of those slugs can do. Great Camera!
Thank you for doing what you do. I never realized how much work you put into making these wonderful videos. This really puts things into perspective. Keep up the fantastic work!
Thanks to you, your channel, and your guest shooters, I have started a new company that makes bullet-proof vests out of nothing but drywall material. Wish me luck!
2 years? Wow, I did not think it'd been 2 years! It sure didn't feel to me like it's been 2 years since I remember you guys talking about getting this brand-new prototype high-speed camera to use. I guess time flies when you have plenty of Taofledermaus to watch!
Ah, MTBF is a wonderful thing. Once electronics has burned in (early failures are usually due to manufacturing or component faults) it can usually run for years. I worked in IT support for a few years and kit was either DOA/blew in first few weeks or rolled on indefinitely. Nice to hear that they have the manufacturing side down and this channel's a great advert for the camera.
That smells like something being built to a budget, tbh, under-spec for the current. A PCB populated with in-spec components will take a hell of a lot of a beating to blow once it's bedded in. EDIT: Planned obsolescence is definitely a thing. Sounds like those are shitty LEDs!
Great video Jeff! I would have assumed the file size was much larger. A buddy and I were just discussing high speed cameras a couple days ago, and this was the only one I could name off the top of my head, thanks to your channel. I think one of the things I fear about picking one up is knowing just how much more time I’ll end up spending video editing 😁
Thanks! I should have mentioned that buying this camera is often cheaper than renting a HS camera for just one day. I can only imagine how difficult it would be trying to operate an unfamiliar camera and get any decent imagery.
Wow, time flies. 2 years already? It still seems so new. That made me try to remember back when I first started watching TFM and next thing you know, I'm digging through the old videos to see how far back I could remember certain videos. Turns out, it's been pushing 9 years now. Wow, time flies... I started watching because of a random search for I forget what, but was snagged right away by how the videos were created and presented and by the folks' personalities involved. Very different, this subject matter being presented by someone other than the latest iteration of some self-promoted Rambo type or "Buford in the Holler" character. Instead, I discovered content created somewhat intelligently by someone who didn't bother to "act" - instead we got a fella by the name of Jeff who shied away from on-camera appearances in general. I found this channel originally for the subject and never left because of the PEOPLE, simply put. Sentimental Journey is an AWESOME plane BTW. I was all over that rascal when it visited over here in TN Sept. 2017. Beautiful restoration and a great organization caring for her. Pretty cool that she's made her way all around the country a time or two. They love to fly her. Here's to another decade of Jeff and company feeding us content junkies! Here's hoping we're all here to see it. Be well and THANKS, Jeff! -Ed on the Ridge
No, thank YOU Jeff. We know you guys aren't getting rich off making these videos, yet we eat 'em up and pester you for more anyways. Just glad you heed the call to keep doing what you do. :-)
@@jcims I have it as a spare gun for my friends to shoot when they come to my backyard range they never bring enough ammo and use mine so that is their rental fee purely my enjoyment and yes it sucks to shoot
Mine still has that nasty blue tint that I just fix in post, wonder if a firmware update would fix it? Still using everything stock from the preorders. Hmm.
Good deal, out of town for a few days so I can't just yet but thanks again my man. Also, can 100% vouch for how sturdy these things are. Far more falls than I'd care to admit and still going strong.
We've fixed up the colour matrix code a bunch. New beta software has a better pipeline and should help. If it doesn't, get on the forum as I'd like to know what's working or not working so we can improve things.
Love all your content man! Keep on doing what you do, it's fantastic! Also I'm super excited, my desert eagle 50AE barrel just arrived 20 minutes ago and I'm stoked to shoot it lol
Well, excellent informative video and entertaining too. My wife will tell you how ADD I am and I was glued to the screen. What struck me was how little memory it uses. I used to motovlog a lot with the GoPro and Drift Action cameras and at 720p I could easily take up 3 gigs for a two hour trip.
Love the channel and vids but can I just say that changing your lenses like that WILL lead to a dirty / dusty sensor. Always have the body opening facing down when changing lenses or stepping rings to avoid the unwanted nasties falling onto the sensor. You probably knew this but in this video, with a new camera! You didn't do it and as a photographer, I cringed ever so slightly.
I was impressed with this camera even before the updates. It fills a niche in the market that has been unfilled for a long time. Before this, the only options for high speed camera was junk, but it did not cost much, or great...and you better take a second mortgage out on the house. There are defiantly cameras that can get better images then this, but not THAT much better, and nothing in this price range can touch it.
