In this Video I try to show how I fixed the 'ALARM SET' Immobilizer issue in my Chrysler Grand voyager. (Dodge Caravan)
Mine is a 1999 model 3.3LE But as far as I can work out this issue has effected both previous and later models, your dash and cluster might be slightly different to this one, but the problem I found might be the same on other models.
Please forgive the shaky hand held... I just used my Phone to make this vid and so there are also odd squeeky noise and lots of mic issues. Cant be helped, I just hope you can see and understand what it is I am doing, if you have any questions regarding any of the steps I took, please drop me a comment and Ill try and respond.
Tools I needed
Stubby Ph No2
Regular Ph No2
Soldering iron, Solder.
Herbal Tea and sandals (Not essential...I'm just a bit of a hippy)
In all it took about an hour and a half, strip down, repair, rebuild, But knowing how to do it now it could probably be done much quicker.
PLEASE NOTE. I am not a mechanic, I have no training or qualifications, I just have a screw driver and a stubborn attitude. What I do in this video worked for me, I hope that this video might help someone who has the same issue, I would however suggest you get another opinion before stripping down your car and getting the soldering iron out.... But if like me, you want to fix this without spending £1000.... this is probably a good thing to at least try before buying ECU or new key fobs as suggested by most. Good luck. I hope it helps!
Thanks for watching.

Thanks, man, same exact situation, same exact crack. My soldering is definitely uglier, but did the job. Couldn't have done it without this video.

Great vid. This did it for me! I took it apart once and didn’t see the cracks in the solder joints but on second attempt, enlarging the view with my phone camera, realised you were spot on. Now working fine after a fortnight of head scratching! Cheers!

Thanks for sharing! The immobilizer and anti-theft systems can be a real pain in the butt. I had the same problem but with the alarm-set lamp flashing. Everything worked in the car, lights, dash, ventilation, ac, doors, fuel pump, you name it. I did find the problem. Solution: Disconnect the negative on the battery. Leave it over night if you have a after-market alarm. (this will reset it). Next day, I took off the panels under the drivers-side and steering column and found a seimens module with a sensor in it. The sensor points to the ignition and needs to have a coded-key or door key for some versions. If you don't have this module, mount an extra door key (originally-chipped) behind the ignition module or close to the ignition switch and it should work! Hope this helps!

FOR ANYONE SUFFERING LIKE US: I have compiled this list... My key is flat. Car won't start. Throws Alarm Reset warning flashing. Car clicks. All electrics dead inside. No cranking. No instrument panel. Previous errors include but were not limited to no wipers, no washer. Intermittent headlights. No internal lights. No instrument panel is new for me after disconnecting battery to check if it would fix problem. See list. Tomorrow, a scrapper is coming to take the car away. I have until 6pm basically to fix it and get it starting again. If I don't then it will be the car that has seen me and my family through many safe journeys over many hundreds of thousands of miles on 2 different continents. The car served as well and I refuse to let it die. I will report back with specifics, if anything AT ALL works for me. Early start tomorrow. 1. Immobiliser disable - lock car using driver side key, then unlock key by driver side door holding key in unlock position for 5 seconds. Main issue here is immobiliser not being able to be disabled using key fob since battery for key is flat. 2. Battery Change in Key - holding unlock on the key for 10 seconds while the car is running should allow it to connect to the car (if BCM is working) Possible auto locksmith needed to pair key to car (try all else first) 3. RESET Body Control Module - Body control module hold security data and can cause alarm reset dash light, with starter relay click and zero electrics working (basically exactly the issue I have, not like OP). To reset disconnect battery and bridge the positive to negative for 10 mins (some people say overnight to completely discharge capacitors being used inside the cars circuits) Make sure the new connection is secured and not touching ANY bare metal/bodywork. 4. Remove IOD Memory relay leave for 10 mins then reinsert. (check fusebox map in Fuse and Relay Center under bonnet) Apparently stores some important piece of information which can throw this error. I am so tired from reading about this issue, I write this list in dribs and drabs and not in order. I am 6 hours into research at this point please forgive the descriptions being weird. 5. Remove dash covers over central heating controls. Pin 21 Earth Cable susceptible to melting and failed ground. Failed ground shorts out instrument panel. Instrument panel knocks on poor signal to alarm and BCM. No start is the result. If pin 21 ground is burned, strip and re-solder. Check all other electrical cables to and from central control panels on the dash for faulty connections. 6. Biggest job but relatively easy to do. Remove instrument cluster. Check all solders. Heat cool cycles break solder joints in instrument cluster pcb (OP has good guide on inspect, watch) Inspect and re-solder/re-melt accordingly. 7. Physically check cables running to BCM behind internal fuse box by drivers side. Check wires for breaks and or corrosion. Apparently, since these circuits are integrated and don't involve much software, the simplest and most obvious reasons for faults and shitty problems like we have is simply wires not connecting when they should or where they should, and crappy fractured solder. It pains me to say to you fellow internet traveller, desperate for a solution, that we should go over every connection in the car behind the plastics and check for breaks in the wiring. Exhaustive diagnostic work is often tedious, but if this is a labour of love for you as it is for me (and clearly a very dedicated OP), then you will follow and I hope you fix it. 7. Check door side grounds. Rubber hoses connect wiring from the dash into door controls in the door jamb area (corrugated rubber hose). These bastards also decided to send TWO major ground cables through these holes, into the doors, on BOTH SIDES. If one fails, the car will through error codes ffs. Unscrew and unclip door plastic panels, check ground cables/grounding straps and look for rusted or badly greyed and oxidised connection. Unscrew them, or snip them and resolder or sand them down to expose some fresh new metal and reconnect. This covers the 1996 - 2000 model year Grand Voyager, Plymouth Voyager and Dodge Caravan. PLEASE NOTE: This guide does not require any special tools apart from a will of steel and some screw drivers. However this is because I do not own the equipment needed to test the BCM for internal failure, or a code reading device that allows communication with the computers in the car. This is also assuming your wiring looms and other basic infrastructures are intact. These intermittent faults are rarely down to wires magically breaking or parts failing in between starts or long rests but rather ricketty or temperamental connections which can be fixed if you know where to look. The next logical step would be to scrap the bugger, or pay chrysler through your bum for what is certainly a costly "check" for a problem with absolutely ZERO guarantee of finding the issue. These cars are old, and likely the auto electrician in the dealership was not born when these cars were made. He will google, and diagnose just like you have to get here. Please don't scold me if my information is wrong, I just collected peoples opinions on the problem and put them all in one place. May the gods of auto electrics be with you. It could be simply turning your key it could be an entire inspection. At this point I'll try everything once. I am also not a mechanic. Good luck everyone. worked perfect for me my car would not crank but starter was good if you hit the top of your gauge cluster on the dash as you try to start the car that will show if your cluster is bad if the car starts then you know the gauge cluster is a problem

Miałem takie objawy. Okazało się, że była przypalona wtyczka od panelu klimatyzacji. Lutowałem to i zaczęło żyć przy tej samej wtyczce. Niczego nie musiałem kupować. Pozdrawiam

Thank you for sharing. I have 1999 Dodge Caravan like your, and I have the same problem like "Alarm Set" on once in awhile like. Not sure the root of the problem, but all I need to tap hard on the dash 1 or 2 times, then the error message gone, but it will come back in a little while in days. I also get another problem is the left signal light will not work sometimes even though I replace the light module aleardy. I wonder of there is something got to do with gas cap as it is wearing too and cause some sensors to detect ...

'Knocking the dash to make it work' sounds like the problem I had. I know this is a jumbled video, but if you re-solder the points as I did, you'll probably find it solves the issue. It did for me, I've not had a single issue (touch wood) since I did this. Car has been good as gold. Good luck! :)
