WOW... both sexes, no tattoos, well dressed and did they get into that. Am 78 now, but i was right there watching that. Beam me up Scotty, there's nothing down here anymore.
@plsdontbame And they would not show black couples and white couples dancing (and NEVER mixed couples). But being entertained by a black performer was okay. Different times, but not different enough.
Man he was so awesome one of the most amazing musicians I just looked back at this though and think of how this was the depressing era so much segregation and crap may the world never be that cruel to one another ever again When we see each other as one family ❤️One race
Took my pre-teen daughters to a theme park back in the 80's. Chuck was playing that night. The girls had, or course, never heard of him and got pouty about having to sit though his performance. Halfway through the first song they were starting to come alive. By the end of the second song they were rockin' out big time and diggin't it. That night was their real introduction to rock and roll. Thanks for the music and the memories Chuck!
Hallelujah! Happy to hear from one who mind you has eye of what is real and true for what's it's that's Music is our livlihood. An important must have involvement as influences and orchestrates our life's experiences as the words won't and have-nots hadn't been able to say so oftentimes found in Music. Song says what's on My mind and it's easier to hear sung than as to write It all down about It as It is. And You hear It sounds so well and better said in a song if You most importantly or them "They" get It. As long as what I meant was what You understand as that too. Hoorah! YaY! So many words to say so little. But means so very very much. Love. And too watching Chuck holding and dancing strums and picks His guitar instrumentally singing such flavorful music to dance the night away. One Another's will find without music there's no love. Love.
@@ur_locl_amalgam I love MJ im a 90s kid he can sing he can dance he can groove but he couldnt play a lick on guitars sorry MJ was presented a guitar as a gift from some legend and MJ coudlnt play a lick on guitars sorry MJ was super awesome but he aint no GOD he cant do it all sorry if he could play the guitar he wouldnt hire Eddie Van Halen, Slash, Orianti to play guitars for him

Yes, Shawn! You are right. It is just too bad that not everyone agrees that Chuck Berry is a true king of Rock n Roll, along with Bo Diddley and Little Richard. In fact, one of the youtube commenters (whose name is SS PP) I was having a debate with told me that I was wrong for calling African-Americans true kings of Rock n Roll and Rock music in general. If you are true music historian, Shawn, can you give this man, SS PP, a true history lesson on the true history of Rock n Roll and Rock music (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zJAO5gMgaIw.html): Arkie Shibley - Hot Rod Race (1950) . The man is still in denial. I truly appreciate it.
That was music !!! And still is music. Good old time !!! I am now in bed and listen to it. Shall I get up and dance through the rooms ? Best music ever. By the way I am 76 years old.
Stand up and dance !!! These times never come back !!! Greetings from Martin in Munich , Germany. i am 61 Years old. I know what you mean . A very wonderful time !!
Agree. These old clips really catch what made Berry so entertaining. Saw him in the 1970's with one of his awful backing bands. The music was lousy but his performance was mesmerizing.
1:04 2 times after breakfast 00:33 3 times before poo_p time and 1:28 only 5 times in your sleepydreamtime 🙃 🙄 everyday dose for ur arthritis until U r cured 🤘 🤞 👌 😜 😎 ( its compulsory )
The rock'n roll look for performers was pretty formal back then, too--with the exception of a few people like Chuck here, Elvis, and Ritchie Valens. Apart from them, it seems like most rockers performed in suits.
When I was 12 or 13 my sister, Zelma, and her high school friends snuck me in to see Chuck Berry at the Green Gate in San Antonio. He signed my arm and I never wanted to wash my arm! Best times ever!
+John John Yep, he's great. Last week I recorded Johnny B. Goode. I rocked it singing & playing bass guitar, and I even did the solo behind my head. I want to do this for America's Got Talent on the 1st week to be judged. It's my featured video right now. I hope you'll check it out and like it. Take care.
No he is not the king, a king that dies, he is the god of rock n roll, immortal, all the others are his sons. I had the good fortune to see him on stage in 1977 in Touloues (France). I am always faithful to him, there is not a smaine, without me listening or humming one of these songs. We miss him. RIP Mister Berry
Didn't know that Door Kicker! - but that picked a song that I listen to every day. Saw Chuck & Little Richard in England way back as a young lad. God bless them both
Part of the 'Golden Record' of sounds and music placed on the Voyager 1 and 2 probes. Everything is there for any intelligent life to decipher it. Perhaps they will come looking for more of that sweet stuff and discover Buddy Holly, KISS and Guns N Roses. They've already got Elvis. Just bring him home and we'll let them borrow the Rolling Stones for a bit.
+thevideosinc yes they do but not every generation can claim the golden age of rock n roll it only happend once it will never be repeated. Trends and fads will come and go but classics are forever.
My theory is that the greats of that era and even before, didn't have television, video games, cell phones, computers, iPads or anything. They were kids growing up without a lot to keep them occupied, so they picked up an instrument and learned to play it. I'm a musician and I must say that practicing and playing music is great at taking your mind off your troubles. I think the kids of today are so busy with their electronics they don't have the time or motivation to learn music. You do need some empty, boring hours in your day to get motivated to be creative.
It's more of a fact than an actual theory, but an interesting one nonetheless. Thank you for replying on my comment. Keep on walking to the path of promise
Brian Seymour We have crap today, bcz back in Chuck's time, good music had to pass the ppl test Good artists started at the bottom & had to work their way to the top by way of record sales. If you played crap you stayed at the bottom. Today, it's the other way around. Record companies tell you what to like. You have no say-so in the matter. It's all artificial recognition to unworthy, lame, uninspired dumb-asses who have no connection with the general card carrying public. So, what are we supposed to like? Hip-hop & rap? An average music trend lasts between 1 to 3 years. The Beatles barely made it to 4 1/2 years. Your gonna tell me that rap can survive 40 years. No Way, Me! (My name is Jose.) It's basically artificial survivability. A cash cow for the record companies. So, as long as the record companies keep dumping boatloads of cash into the promotion of rap-crap...it lives. Frankly, there's not very much to rap-crap. It's boring & annoying and goes nowhere. It has no heart and no soul like, say, a Chuck Berry, a Ray Charles, or a James Brown. Somebody needs to see the Emperor for what he is and pull the plug on that rap-crap. Let's get the real music back to the general public where it belongs.
This was extreme risque stuff back in the day. To the ears of the elders of that time this was a major threat almost. Something this loud, pulsating, exotic....what an amazing revolution it kicked off
Absolutely. Other artist like Ray Charles, were bombarded with Christian groups disrupting and protesting performances and songs. This new rock & roll stuff that he was performing, was deemed as the devil’s music
"How do I describe Elvis? The greatest that ever was, or ever will be!" - Chuck Berry.....Chuck was GREAT, but even he knew, Elvis was, is, and always will be THE KING !
Not a fraud Crunch. A thief maybe, but you have to admit he HAD talent. A singing voice like black velvet. Remember - when Elvis became a star the culture in America was much different. Mr. Berry had huge obstacles. And he played that guitar just like "a ringin a bell." (We ARE talking 70 years ago...
punkanelly lovejoy. they didn't label elvis the king of rock and roll because he was more talented , played better guitar or wrote his own songs. they made him king of rock and roll because he opened the door for black entertainers. blacks only sold records in black markets before elvis. chuck himself said there was nothing before elvis but once a white ma7n started to sing black man's music all of a sudden the white stations started playing black music and it opened the door for them to make a lot more money than they had before. i was born in 1946 and started listening to black stations because i loved the music and got my ass kicked by my dad because i would fall asleep while i was listening to it and he would come home from his afternoon shift and catch me. when elvis came on the scene all of a sudden it was ok because my mom liked elvis and that made it ok.
This is one of the greatest rock and roll songs ever recorded by one of the greatest rock and roll artists of all time. I'm 76 now and I can still recall how an earlier Chuck Berry hit ("Rock & Roll Music") lit me up the first time I heard it (8th grade). S-o-o-o glad I was born when I was...
#Shray Singh, what is your source of information, and do you know when that Calvin Klein originally played "Johnny b good"? Surprising as it's well known that Chuck Berry wrote the song in 1955 and it was recorded/released 3 years later.
Not Even The Great Elvis Presley Had A stage Presence As Chuch Berry No One Wrote Or Performed That Well You Can't Stand Still When Music That Good Is Performed So Well.
He was still doing those moves into his 70,s a real showman and true rock and rolla Legend RIP good sir and thank you for the sweet music, shit we miss ya, and your like
Chuck Berry''s Johnny B Goode is the only rock and roll song included on the Golden Records attached to the Voyager space probes currently racing out of the Solar System. So who knows; a million years from now, aliens may be listening to Chuck Berry.
Mmmmaaaaaannnnn, I would love to see the look on those aliens' face when, maybe 10,000 years from now, when they manage to spin up that record for the first time. Probably jump in their spaceships, max the warp drive, and head here for some culture.
I saw him in concert in Tampa in '72 along with Humble Pie, Sugarloaf and Three Dog Night, it was my first time and it was awesome and all for five bucks!
Chuck in his day, was the best rock and roll star hands down. There is not another musician that has been copied more in the style that he played by bands even to this day. To me, he is the true king of what is known as rock and roll. R.I. P. Chuck, you were the best!
@@nandofigueira2005 Think about it, back in the 50's. On your transitor radio! Hearing the opening chords of Jonny B. Good. It must have been a special moment of time. Boy, I wish I could have been there to hear that. I was just a couple of years too young. Anyway, I truly appreciate the like. Thank you, Bernie.
The crazy-moving chick in the black polka dot dress was the perfect accompaniment to this classic. The combination of his music and her dance moves deserves to live forever.
@@mierul7991 No, it's english, it's a way of saying he was so full of joy and energy, it's hard to imagine, he's dead and gone. At least we have the means to see it, in the past, how great he WAS. Thanks Mr. Obvious!
@@mierul7991 I know, it sucks being an Atheist, like us. It's hard to make a funny statement about the pretend after life, knowing an Atheist like us will always point out, there is no 'God' or afterlife.
After reading some of the posts: I wonder, why does everything have to be reduced to an argument? Can't we just enjoy and be thankful we had such great entertainment?
yes ur totally right, lets forget about comparing, they were all great but only a hand ful really stand out and two that comes to mind is Elvis, and Chuck Berry.
Very true Patty Milburn , Fard Nord and jay bee. Let us stop arguing and comparing and just enjoy ALL the GREAT Entertainers that we still have and those that have come and gone before us especially in this terrible time of COVID-19. They all had their own unique ways and were ALL great! Please JUST ENJOY!! To all STAY SAFE!! 🤗 🎤🎼🎹🎸🎺🎷🥁
I must admit I would listen to this song by the whites only water fountain all the time back in the day with my doctor approved cigarettes and asbestos oven mitts !
My favourite song ever .Johnny B Good. I was walking home from the river in my home town in Australia . When I picked up a piece of paper with the lyrics of Johnny B Good. I would been 15 years of age at the time . I just loved this song ever since . I even won a talent quest once in the 80s singing my favourite song . Thanks Chuck Berry for the GREAT music and memories . RIP Legend .
