I have an M3 16GB model and it's been great! The community has already unlocked the BIOS and there's a working hackintosh build too! Shame about the fan noise, will look to beef up the cooling on mine soon...
REQUEST: Please do more reviews with mini/pocket laptops. There's not much review on this around the web or here on YT so I hope you can start it. There's a strong competitor in this niche like the OneMix 3s platinum which is an i7 version and sounds good on papers.
Looks really cool!!! I have never had a laptop, tablet or computer EVER!!! And now that i fell in love with flying drones and RU-vid its like i really need one!!! I need to learn how to edit videos and all sorts of stuff!!!! Would love to be able to fly fpv on a simulator but i need a laptop or computer 1st!!! Thanks for another Great Review Also GREAT CHANNEL!! 👍😀👍
@@CrazyBlueTv uhm........as efficient as Ryzen is in the desktop area (I own one) it's generally worse at battery life when it comes to laptops (the 3000 series is comparable, the 2000 series was badly optimized for idle power usage) . And AMD doesn't have a core-m3 equivalent at the moment that can run under 8w. They only have 15w and 35w chips.
Athlon 300u will serve well in this form factor.. hopefully more oem will embrace ryzen,80-90% of 720p gaming should be no problem compared to this pseudo core i3 chipset
@Zahir Datoo the chip should be cheaper than M3 7y30 but I don't know it is cheaper than M3 8100y chip so it can be priced similarly as those mini laptops. I am talking about of companies go for amd v1605b chip. M3 8100y might be cheaper due to many Chinese manufacturers using it. If and 1605b chip doesn't get used much the price can go higher so it's a mixed bag.
& A great solution to not have to carry mammoth computers like the Mac, with the addition of more power in its features would be great. The idea is great. Thank you greetings to blessings.
Hi, I see there is a liitle to no difference in a baterry life comparing the N4100 and m3-8100y models. I would expect the m3 to be more power hungry and offering less operating time, especially when the cheaper version had a 29Wh battery. What might have caused this?
Hi Chris great video. I’m about to get mine supposedly on Monday and I’m specially excited to install Hackintosh. Have you tried this on a similar spec device? I appreciate if you let me know some tweaks to undervolt and use the right TDP from the Bios or using external software. I’m coming from an atom based GPD Pocket 1st Gen so expecting a big performance boost with the m3 proccessor.
How do you like it fam? I've been eyeing it myself so I can edit photos when I'm out and about without having to lug a bigger laptop... I've been doing this on a waaay weaker throwback Dell Venue 8 pro running Lightroom classic ver. 5.1 so any ram upgrade is a God send especially since I've been happy with my current setup for a while. Thanks for any advice n input you can offer. Also what are your personal pros and cons?
That csgo isn’t optimized just for the reader to be clear. I have atom z-8750 and i get around 25-45 fps. Surely an m3-8100 will do at least 2x better right?
Does the motherboard has a mini-PCI Express slot where you can replace the Wifi-modem-card with a 2GVoice/3G/4G and WIFI combo modem? Then it would become a windows 10 powerd smartphone-tabled-laptop combo!
If you learned to type the right way. You should hit S Instead of A. Because when you know how to type right, you should not take off your fingers from the home row keys. Only one at the time as needed
Hi Chris. Is tthere a BIOS update to unlock bios to get access to those thermal settings? Will you try any thermal mod with this to reduce heat and noise?
Why does this product even exist? I don't get it... I already have a computer in my pocket and it is called a smartphone which can run Games, Office and even some simple video editing. If I need more power or a larger screen I will use my 10 inch Ultrabook which supports LTE connectivity. The more I look at this device I just can't stop wondering why and at this price??? This was a good review but I just don't understand what niche it's targeting, also the price is too high and there are too cons... but thanks for another interesting review even if I don't like this product.
@@michaelkoerli3815 Applying Liquid metal on any CPU is potentially dangerous but if you are willing to take the risk and you're careful it could potentially improve thermals.
@@Techtablets issues? such as? I hope not ballooning? edit:it seems to be a no charge/ battery not detected problem? one guy in chuwi forum said it might be because after the battery is completely drained for some reason, it has a problem in trying to turn it back on even when connected to charger for some reason?
Hello youtubers! Just a WARNING to all of you thinking about this otherwise great little machine! 8Gb model runs in single channel mode, seriously bottlenecking graphics speed! Im not able to run older 3d games or even Play Station 2 emulator in playable speed. Wii emu barely works... I dont really know why CHUWI saved a little bit of money putting 1x8gb chip instead of 2x4gb... most disappointing!
It’s almost like PC makers do products like this more for RU-vidrs to review than for actual consumers to buy and use. There are much better options for ultra mobile computing than these things.
@@AJ42069 Ehm... a M3-8100y 8 inch laptop with 8gb ram and m2 256gb ssd? Are you mad? that stuff is 400 dollar+ in normal form factors let alone cramped in 8 inches. the price is very normal for what it is. GPD win 2 on the other hand is not. 700-900 dollars is insane tho.
I love your videos, but I simply hate chuwi. They give a terrible fame to chinese products, so, better to forget products of this brand than talking about them. So, sorry, but I have to give a thumb down to this video.
I don't think it's fair to grade his work by the product itself. Basically, he also doesn't like the product but it's good to bring this form factor to the table, and stablish the major flaws.
