I didn't watch the whole video , forgive me pressed for time , what is the price point ? I feel like a lot of these UMPC's especially the GPD GPD-Pocket are grossly overpriced for what you get , but they look so cool. I was always a netbook fan , just not a fan of the performance , since they dropped a bomb on us late last night about the Raspberry Pi 4b+ I'd rather build one of these little guys... More fun , cheaper.. The new specs are 2 3.0 ports 2 2.0 ports , FULL gigabit ethernet , up to 1 - 2 - 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM , with two mini HDMI outputs for dual monitor support with up to 4k Output, Type C 5v 3a power. Its just wonderful , for $55 , the Pi didn't always have the best specs but it is WELL documented and OS support is vast, opposed to other boards with that form factor. To fit the form factor profile I would have to loose two USB ports but most UMPC's only have two usb ports anyway. I believe it also supports nvme with a breakout so making something like this would be feasible. I agree though , whats not to like about this little pc here.

@@Techtablets the little computer looks great, but what I really want to know is if the quality and durability of the product is good, does it overheat the battery? Linux Mint is based off Ubuntu 18.04 or 18.04.2 LTS, which use older 4.15 or 4.18 kernels. Please try Ubuntu 19.04, or one of its flavors, which has the 5.0 kernel and a later grub boot loader. A recent Manjaro spin with a 5.x kernel might work too. One of these might get you past the boot problem and to a working OS and desktop. However don't be too surprised if the display and touch digitizer are rotated from the desired landscape mode - seems to be a common issue with these tablet panels, but fixable by providing the display server with a transformation matrix.
@PrintAimGame
@PrintAimGame 5 лет назад
Do you have a link for giving the display server a transformation matrix? I have a Win 2 running Ubuntu 19.04 with the screen rotation problem. I've just been running an xrandr command on every. single. boot. Only way to fix it I've found is to have a shell script that I run. Would love a more automated solution.

Looking forward for the full review of this device. So far the only big thing that is missing with these UMPC's are N-Trig pen support, especially with that size it will be nice for note taking. The lack of proper power delivery through USB-C is indeed disappointing and I hope the production model may address this. So far it is tempting at least based on the specs which is not too bad. Glad that these devices exist. Hopefully we will see UMPC's running Snapdragon instead for impressive battery endurance and still offering good performance (even better for ARM-native desktop apps and UWP apps).

Regarding the charging issue, I have the GPD Pocket 2 which shows the same issue. If you use a battery bank or a wall charger that even supports QC 3.0, the device will not charge unless it is shut down. However, it will charge just fine if you use the included charger or an iPad pro charger. I believe it just needs more power to charge if it is turned on.

Yeah, the left & right side of the bezel add up to 9-10 inches on the overall body ratio. Also the screen resolution of 1920 x 1200 on an 8" display *looks good on paper* but sacrifice battery life # about 9-10 inches body ratio # about 800-900 gram (laptop+power brick's weight) With specs like this, it is not pocketable, AND since it is not a USB-C PD supported, you might need to carry the power brick with you, adding up the weight in your bag, might as well getting a regular & cheaper 10" to 13" 2-in-1 laptop with a more powerful processor that will eventually end up in your bag anyway. With that being said, it's pointless this product designed with such size & weight in the first place. This product was designed to users who "wish" to have a smaller & lighter-weight laptop but they end up realising it was not that light & small afterall. There are other similar alternative in the market which are smaller & lighter and possibly pocketable. Don't get me wrong, I do aware that a 9-10" size devices can gives a better keyboard typing experience, but pocketable is the selling point for these kind of devices.

Leo Miranda FPS games benefit from n-key rollover, so generally you'd want to avoid membrane-based keyboards for anything but very light typing usage, due to their 2-key rollover. Although there are certain gaming membrane keyboards that do have n-key rollover, they are not worth buying. Just get a mechanical keyboard instead. Much better for, well, everything.

Funny little laptop, it really needs bit more ports though.

So who is the company churning this out? It's also been seen, slightly modded, as the Falcon. So Chuwi is not the OEM. Who is?

Probably some nameless factory. There's another company coming out putting their brand on this same 8 inch device, forgot what they're called. Expect to see a bunch more rebrands in the future.

You'd probably get a chinese tablet with intel n4000(dual core) and 4gb ram for 200-250 and for 400-500 you'll get a touch screen i3/i5 laptop from costco with 12gb ram.
