In the first few years of 2.1, Darwin was probably the creator I uploaded the most levels by. He was extremely active, creating many cool levels. They were definitely not to the same standards as some of his later stuff, but that is to be expected as it was early 2.1 and the levels were seemingly made much faster. In recent years, he hasn't made a whole lot. "CICADA3302" is a major reason for that, as it's a huge project he's been working on for long now. The length of 7:22 is a clear indicator of that.
In visuals, the level leans towards what people like to call "layout" levels. The block designs and structures aren't too detailed, often resorting to default blocks. That was particularly the case for earlier previews of the level. I'm glad to see that he has added a lot more visual detail to the final version shown here, especially in background and foreground effects. While the gameplay itself is incredibly fun to watch, featuring many gimmicks synchronized perfectly to the song, the main reason I've liked Darwin's levels over the years is his visuals. As such, I'm glad to see that this isn't only a layout. I do wish it featured more of his sick block design, but I can also understand focusing more on the gameplay than the visuals. It would also probably be a bad idea to make a fully decorated level at this length, both in terms of time and effort, and not to mention how many objects it would be. All in all, I'm glad to see this awesome project being finished before 2.2. Even though he said this may be his last big project, I hope to see more creations by him in the new update.
