I recently got into cigars.. I only have around 10 at a time.. I purchased the 1 year zip lock bag from boveda. It came with a small bag inside it. I also just got my size 60 69% bags ill use when the small one that came with the bag gets stiff. I like the zip lock as it saves space.. and is easy to transport. I smoked cigars mainly when I golf and after a long day at the fire house, so the simple easy setup works great for me. Thx

Interesting in the aspect that as a child growing up I never ever saw my Great Grandfather or my Uncles use a Humidor or a Humidity pack. They simply kept their Cigars stored in the box they came in. Lastly I also never ever saw them use a Butane Lighter/fill or refill a lighter with Butane. 🤷🏾

My humidor holds about 74% very well with the cup of fluid and two jars of beads in the bottom. I'm hoping that adding two Bovida packs of 69% to it and alternating them monthly with the two in the Tupperdor will actually extend their use _and_ bring the average down a few points in the humidor.

I should have watched this video before purchasing some Boveda packs. Living in Central Cali, it's very dry here and I bought the 69% packs but my humidor suffers to even get above 50% humidity. I should have started with the 85%, seasoned the humidor for a few weeks and then dropped down to the 75% packs. This was a great video and a lot of help. Thanks.

Yes, the different sized humidity packs don't go by cigar count, they go by the space inside the humidor. If you have a 50 count, then you need 2 packs to correctly humidify that space

Team , I've got a 300 count humidor common so I'm wondering when you have a cabinet like that with the controlled temperature? Does the bividia packs work in there too? If so, how many? Great informative video. Boveda packs are simple to use and they just work. Question...Since this is a 2 way system, if a pack is drying out and you put a couple of fresh fully charged packs in...shouldn't the dried out one start to "refill" from any excess humidity over your target level?
@MardoCigars

So I have a Daniel Marshall Treasure chest. Amazing Humidor probably one of the best made humidors in the world. I use 8-69% bovedo packs in my humidor, and hold 69% inside. Because of the quality of the box and how thick the cedar is on the box. The box does not leak like your cheap Chinese import. Mine last 6 months, depending on how often I open the box.

@MardoCigars
@MardoCigars Год назад
If the humidor has any type of windows it maybe just the best you are going to get. Some try to put a type of sealant along the seams of the windows to help create a better seal. If it is solid wood check to see if when you close the lid it makes a swoosh from a good seal. If there is no resistance you may need to re-season your humidor. Some of the more inexpensive humidors will never have a proper seal. One other thing to mention is to not have it in direct sunlight or in a room that has a very low RH. Hope that helps and thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching Guy! Boveda has a specific one for seasoning which is 84% and yes you can re-season and old humidor and I think Boveda is the perfect way to go you do not want to apply distilled water to really dried out wood it could damage the humidor beyond repair. Boveda is a good way where you do not have to wipe down the wood. Which you can a lot safer after seasoning with the 84% packs. Hope that helps.

Thanks for watching! If it is to put in one box of cigars I would say on 60g bag if you can fit in there if not I'd say at least 2 of the smaller ones. Cigar boxes sometimes comes with one small one inside that is intended to keep it safe while traveling but the it's with the notion that the box is being kept in a humidity and temperature controlled environment.

I just picked up a 25ct box of Arturo Fuente Anjeo No. 50 from Holt’s. Currently seasoning a $115 entry level humidor which will be ready tomorrow. Keeping cigars in cellophane. Very long term storage as they will be gifted over the years. The man at the store gave me a 69% pack. So I should expect the humidor to read 65%? Is this a good thing, for long term storage because you said it should be 72%… I’m confused now

@@Kenny-yl9pc this was a great response. This is what I needed. Honestly I’ve been spending the last week and a half trying to calibrate trash hygrometers on top of it, which hasn’t made this fun but more stressful than anything. I bought a beautiful humidor. I looked at it as a piece of furniture but I currently have my cigars in Tupperware so I think I’m going to just take the lost and say screw it I’m receptive to everything you said and will implement it immediately. I’ve actually been hearing a lot about the difference between humidor versus Tupperware so I currently have them in a Rubbermaid Tupperware. This reply was right on time.

I live in a dry environment and someone told me 75% would be perfect but I have two different types of things and keeping two different types of flavors in so I would assume 72 would be perfect because I don't have any wood inside it even though the one that came with it but I had to take it out because it was broke plus I did hear that the wood transfers flavor to the cigar and might be able to regulate the humidity better but I don't care about that flavor beating the cigar in the first place so it should work anyways
@MardoCigars
@MardoCigars 3 года назад
Each humidor and environment can be different best advice is to always calibrate your hygrometers so you know what the real RH levels are in each part of your humidors. Just don't put two different level RH Boveda packs in the same humidor because they will counteract each other. Thanks for watching!

They should be individually wrapped in plastic within the box which helps. But keep in a place like where you would keep your humidor. Not directly in the path of AC or sunlight. Cool dark cabinet or closet would seem a good fit. Another idea is store them all together in a Tupperware still individually wrapped but they may help each other last longer. Thanks for watching!

I do wonder, for a 3 level glass and wood cabinet 1x2 ft humidor how many boveda packs would I need. And since it’s glass and would what percentage should be recommended. It’s a bigger humidor than a small desk humidor, but it’s also not a massive humidor
@MardoCigars
@MardoCigars 3 года назад
With glass you generally do not get a perfect seal which you would want to use a higher level RH to compensate it not being airtight. For the size it is recommended to use one 60g pack every 25 cigars. If you have multiple shelves its a good idea to have one on every shelf. Best advice is to get a couple calibrated hygrometers so you can see where the RH is for each area of your humidor and you can decide if you need to go up or down in RH or if you need to add an extra one on a specific area. Keep in mind when using multiple boveda packs the RH level of the packs need to all be the same! Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

The 320g maybe really too big but the 60g or the smaller squares which are about 1 gram would be fine for that amount. The good news is that they are designed to produce the consistent RH level and even though you have one too big. If you have a hygrometer that's the best way to tell if the condition of the case is good. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

@MardoCigars

It all comes down to your preference. If your humidor is big enough and allows a good air flow with the boxes in then it is fine either way. One way to see what you prefer is to take a few out of the box and a few of those out of the cellophane so you have a sample of each. Wait a couple months and then begin to test them out and see if there is a difference you notice and which one you prefer. Good to have a few of each so you can test at different marks like 3 months, 6 months and a year. Thanks for watching.

Hi Holden, here are few tips to help get your humidor to the right RH level. 1st make sure the humidor is seasoned and has a proper seal. 2nd where the humidor is kept can make a big difference, keep it in a cool area with no direct sunlight or blast from ac or heaters. 3rd check to see if you have the right amount of Boveda packs and the right RH level based on the type of humidor material as well as the environment you live in. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

@@MardoCigars I filled my 50 cigar humidor box and then added 72% Boveda pack. This was my mistake. so now I bought another humidor put 2 84% packs in there and waiting the full 2 weeks until seasoned. I’ll transfer cigars to that box once done

Hi. Does it make sense to have an airtight jar with a 65% for Cubans and an airtight jar with 69% for new world cigars? Best and thanks.
@MardoCigars
@MardoCigars Год назад
Cuban cigars are often rolled tighter than new world cigars and produce more humidity from each cigar. If you have a humidor with mostly Cubans the humidity level will be much higher in the humidor. Thanks for watching.

I just wiped the inside of my humidor with distilled water. I used a sponge being careful not to soak it too much. Do I wait after 24 hours to place boveda pack in? Should I get the jar of humidity gel? On top of all that should have the humidification unit in there as well??? Help !

Hi David, if you are seasoning your humidor, there is a specific Boveda set made for that with a much higher RH level or you can season your humidor with distilled water. Either way does take a period of time. Once the humidor has been properly seasoned then you can place the regular Boveda (65% to 72%) in your humidor or the gel pack but not both. The Boveda is designed to be the only humidity source needed as long as you have the right number of packs all at the same RH level. Check out some of our videos on seasoning humidors and our site or Boveda's for how many and what type of packs you need for your humidor. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Okay on the video...just ordered some...now, question: You do have to remove them from the brown envelope: correct? Sorry, probably a stupid question...but I do have a humidor...removed the brown envelope, soaked the Boveda pad inside for about 20 minutes in distilled water (after removing it from brown wrapper) ...IS this correct?? Seems it is working in my humidor as the hygrometer needle is right in the middle about 77%....would appreciate your comments....and if this is correct and how long does the Boveda last...how many time can it be re-soaked. Thanks so much....for the reply.

Hi Joey, the Boveda packs work with out cutting them open. Just place the packs right inside the humidor no distilled water needed. If you have different shelves or or drawers it works best to have one in each area. You can tell when the Boveda pack needs to be replaced when the packs harden up. about every 3 to 4 months. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

Great video. I've read that if you're using a cheaper humidor, like ones made in China (mine was $35 15/20 count, made in China) you should use the 75% Boveda pack as the China made humidors have a less reliable seal and more moisture is lost. Is this true? Thanks
@MardoCigars
@MardoCigars Год назад
You may get one that has a good seal. See how the humidor behaves, but finding one with a good seal is a much better approach than going up in RH levels to compensate for it. If you are going for a less expensive humidor a good suggestion would also to avoid one that has glass or plastic windows which could have more issues of it not being sealed properly. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

What happens if I have too many boveda packs in a small humidor where I hold a few cigars. Is too many packs bad? Do they over humidify the cigars?
@MardoCigars
@MardoCigars Год назад
Does not over humidify they will absorb any extra humidity over the RH level of the pack. Best advice is always to have a calibrated hygrometer to know exactly if it is too humid or to dry. Thanks for watching.

Can i use 3small packs of 10g boveda in a tupperware with 15 robusto cigars?
@MardoCigars
@MardoCigars 4 года назад
I would stick to 60g size for any long term storage. But the theory works for any size them more packs you have the better and perhaps the longer they may last. Just make sure they are all the same RH level. Thanks for watching!

Yes. I have a tupperdor with around 40 sticks and three 69 boveda 10g. It has maintained humidity for months now. I have a digital hygrometer in there to verify.

I've put 3 of the 62% packs in a 1.5 ltr. mason jar with herbs. RH has remained at 59%. How long does it take to see a change?
@MardoCigars
@MardoCigars 4 года назад
Thanks for watching Jazzpicker. Should be good after 24 hours. Make sure you have calibrated your hygrometer.

about three weeks ago, got a new wooden humidor. It's the 100 ;count "'tobacco leaf" by Humidor Supreme. I put four 84% boveda 60gm packs into it about three weeks ago. but the packs are as juicy as when i put them in. is the seal on my humidor that good? or am i making mistakes.
@MardoCigars
@MardoCigars Год назад
As long as you took the pack out of the individual cellophane wrapper then yes if the packs are still moist that means that the wood is not pulling the moister and ready for your cigars... put in a calibrated hygrometer for a day or two before putting the cigars in just to make sure its not higher than 72RH when the humidor has been closed for a day or two. If you humidor is running an RH higher without any Boveda pack inside then you need to get packs that have a lower RH level like 69% or if you have Cubans 65%. Thanks for watching.
