She's absolutelly wonderful: not only is she very expressive but her technique is great. Brava, Renee! (Other very important points about her is her vivacity, charity, tenderness and humbleness!)
Anthony Arispe , CALLAS NEVER SUNG ADRIANA LECOUVREUR !!! She just recorded the First and the last Song on CD and she admitted it was not right for her “temperament” . Mlle Fleming performs Adriana like an American Pop Song : DISGUSTING !!! If you wanna know that meaning if this Song , listen carefully the Live Recording of MAGDA OLIVERO , MAFALDA FAVERO, RAJNA KABAIVANSKA and many other GREAT ARTISTS . Those Artists did HUNDREDS of Performances of ADRIANA, before recording the Songs , in order to get a deep rendition before to make the CD !! What a GAP before that Old “School” and nowadays !! I am disgusted .

First listen carefully OLIVERO, FAVRRO, KABAJVANSKA, FRENI, CABALLÉ ..... and then , if you are not BLIND & DEAF , you will understand ! By the way : before you must know the Story and the Words too ..... or it is better to shut up !
I know what you mean about Magda, but I just love her especially in her dying scenes! And this aria for me is Katia Ricciarelli in her prime when she could sing this whole aria pianissimo
Check out Magda Olivero when she was in her prime. She wasn't too bad at 83, too. Cilea (the composer) regarded her as the ideal interpreter of this piece and talked her out of retirement to sing this piece and his opera. I'm not saying she's better than Renee, just that she should be recognized as being an important interpreter of this aria. Check out Mirella Freni, also - she sings this beautifully.
