I was born in London in 1944 at the time when the Nazis were bombing England. This means I am now 80 years old. In the 1960's London was the hub of a new era of music with lots of new groups and artists vying for top spot in the Charts. When Cilla suddenly appeared she had a strong and commanding tone to her voice that went straight to the core of your mind and heart. This song has stood the test of time and is incorporated in my own Harmonica playing and Singing performance repertoire. I didn't need to seek out or learn the lyrics, they are in my brain today as clear as they were on the day I first heard Cilla sing it and listened to it time and time and time again. Like so many artists I knew of then, Cilla has passed this life. But with people like me legacy carrying on the singing of Your My World and giving credit to Cilla for it, means that the younger generation will get to hear and love it as I did. RIP Cilla...........you live on through my performances and will never be forgotten. Keep a place near you for me........we might get do a heavenly duet together!
She was a super star that could have concerd America and they would have loved her like us for cilla. Projected incredible warmth. And a voice. That was magnetic.
Wow this song gave me major goosebumps all over. Nearly fifty years later and this old classic is still a huge favourite of mine. It just gets better each time I hear it. Love Cilla Black what a legend.
The Liverpool tones in Cilla's voice come out very well in this great live performance of You're my World, which sounds so good 50 years on . Filmed in 1973 and viewed in 2023. Anyone British can hear the Merseyside intonation; I wonder whether Americans or other English-speakers can tell without her spoken introduction.
Oh, my God!! that’s talent for you being able to sing with a live orchestra is brilliant wish they could do it today like you did.Cilla you’re my world and you’re always be my world.❤❤
When you consider that Cilla was singing live, it is a mark of her greatness. This was Cilla's song, others covered it but no one can replicate Cilla's powerful yet melodic tones. A truly great singer/performer sadly missed.
Cilla was one of very few singers who could actually sing a song properly the way it should be done. She had a great voice and she knew how to use it properly. She was able to project her voice and she held all her long notes perfectly. R.I.P Cilla.
Back when Singers who could sing live note perfect with a live Orchestra of equally skilled musicians - even in 2021you cant digitally re-produce real strings, brass and percussion like this.
@@normanacree6307 you sir are a sad waste of space you are obviously a leftist twat who does not like someone with an opinion that differs from yours and why would you reply on this vid and make such a sweeping statement Music and song is a personal taste and I agree with Noel but will add the 70's and 80's had good talent as well The best word to describe your comment is uneducated at best now f-off and leave music lovers alone Moron
You mean just get up and sing? No AutoTune? No distracting fireworks or dancers clunking around to highlight the fact they’re lousy singers? Cilla was a gem! Naturally funny woman who had her own show on TV. Always loved watching and listening to her🤗
God bless Cilla. Gal from my childhood...takes me back to a place and time....the best ever despite not having much as kids....we would all be singing her songs as best we could, or listening thanks to the one kid on the block who had a stereo....or watching on a TV that was rented and you has to put two shilling in the back slot to play ( yes that existed.) I am forever grateful for such time and for Cilla and others...always love. Never forgotten. Gal from Liverpool...gal from our streets. xxx
Does anyone notice the void that is left when all these long time stars leave us? Modern day ‘stars’ just cant cut it or come near to what Cilla had! RIP Cilla love. 😢
Most artists are one hit wonders. There’s not many that have the longevity. Whether any of the current singers will last for decades to come is yet to be seen.
I totally agree pwith you most theses days will not stand the test of time. Has for cilla she's a national treasure still miss her her will always, love her
Most of what we get these days is very, very mediocre crap! The so called music today won’t form a back catalogue for the future, as past pop music does today!
Growing up in the 60's and 70's as a young girl, I got my parents to buy your records so I could play them and sing along with you. I cherish your memories and you will never be forgotten. Thank you for giving me a lifetime of happiness. May you rest in peace.
It's hard to listen to Cilla without being overcome with sadness at the moment. So many bright lights from my youth, Lennon, Harrison, Black are just a few among the many who have passed on to the next level. Ronnie Barker, Morecambe & Wise, Sid James, Kenneth Williams, Charles Hawtrey. Feeling very sad at the moment. God bless you Cilla.
When these God given talented people leave is, I know Father has them and we'll live and hear them all again. It's sad in this earth age when they return to Father. A tear grows in my eyes. Tears of sadness and joy! God Bless!
Too say its awesome is an understatement..What a VOICE, and such a lovely Lady..God Bless you Sweetheart, a true legend..You'll never be forgotten..RIP Sweetheart xxx Tony.
I saw her on the Ed Sullivan Show when he had the Beatles on and I fell in love with her. Never saw her again on American TV. Never knew what happened to her. But by the power of the social network and found out what happened to her. It made me so happy to see that she had a highly successful career. She was not that big here but she was big in Britain and I am very happy to see such a great talent get her due recognition. God Bless and RIP Cilla your music is your legacy!!! Love you!!!!!
When i was 10 i went see Cilla at the Palladium in Aladdin. I have still got single records of her. I wrote to her and received a photo. When my mother died in 2007, my father played this at her funeral and i remember looking at him thinking why did i not know you loved her like i had all those years ago. I have such respect for you Cilla all these year later.
From the eastern world where i was brought up, this song was one of the frist few songs I listened and learned when I started listening to western music. What an unique English voice, she is a legend in the British Invasion. "You'll never walk alone", cos God and Bobby are with you now. You voice will be heard in heaven for those who missed your voice.
When i was about 8 we used to go to Saturday morning cinema every week it was number one for a while so it got played every sat its one of my favorite childhood memories, stardom never changed her so down to earth, sadly missed.
@@colincaldwell1731 I'd go further Britain's finest. I adore her singing voice probably better in the raw original versions of this, Alfie and Anyone who had a heart
I WAS SAME AGE AS CILLA WHEN SHE FIRST STARTED,WE LOVED HER THEN AND STILL DO,SO SAD SHE IS NO LONGER WITH US WE STILL HAVE HER RECORDS AS THATS B4 c d,s Love from Albert orpington
What a woman and what a lady she was one of England's treasures and she will be sadly missed by her fans and her family and friends she was an inspiration to my generation and a one and only entertainer rest in peace mrs Willis and may God love and protect you.
This is a fantastic performance from a very under-rated artist.....the BBC recently aired a compilation of Cilla in the 60’s& 70’s.....it was superb...especially a duet with Phil Everly..they sang Let It Be Me...the old Everly’s hit...it was stunning!
Omg .what a voice. Love her. This song makes me cry. Only CILLA can sing this. She sings it beautifully with a full orchestra which this era will never see. It's a shame. This is when music was music not this junk today. RIP CILLA WE MISS U . LOVE YA.😥🙏
WOW....what a song, what a voice....it pierces your heart and soul...I believed every word she sang! To those 154 morons who amazingly thumbed down .....you truly don't deserve to have ears!
Such a wonderful song, and one that reaches back to our youth, those of us who grew up during the great musical Renaissance of the 1960's. Thank you for sharing.
On this day in 1964 {May 1st} Cilla Black performed "You're My World" on the British ITV network television program, 'Ready Steady Go!'.... Four weeks later on May 28th, 1964 the song peaked at #1 {for 4 weeks} on the United Kingdom's Official Top 50 Singles chart and it spent fourteen weeks on the Top 50... And at the time her "Anyone Who Had A Heart" was at position #35 on the United Kingdom's Official Top 50 Singles chart, nine weeks earlier it had peaked at #1 {for 3 weeks} and it also spent fourteen weeks on the Top 50... Between 1963 and 1993 the Liverpool native had twenty-one records on the U.K. Singles chart, eleven made the Top 10... She just missed having a third #1 record when her "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling"* peaked at #2 {for 1 week} in 1965, the week it was at #2, the #1 record for that week was "Go Now!" by the Moody Blues... Ms. Black, born Priscilla Maria Veronica White, passed away at the age of 72 on August 1st, 2015... May she R.I.P. * The week after her "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" peaked at #2, the Righteous Brothers' version of the song moved into the #1 position for a two week stay...
There's a void of class femail singers of such caliber in this country and the world in general. Back then we had so many, Shirley Bassey, Vikki Carr, Dusty, Petula, Annita Harris, Carol Carpinter, the list was endless, now we have so few with real personality to go with the singing talent. The world is poorer for it.
That's because these women battled for position like anyone else and refused anything less and it's those scars and bruises that we hear between the notes, we've allowed this myth of everything being a fenced off world to politicise the playing field and that's led to synthetic, commodified values replacing the organic, the Spice Girls 'Girl Power' etc. it no longer about who you are but what you represent meaning something might tick all the boxes genderwise, sexual preferentially or even racially but all too often doesn't necessarily bring any artistic depth to the table with it - hence todays lack of quality, I've had a major recording contract, I know how low on the ladder of importance the music is, it's very sad
Wonderful with Cilla' sublime voice and great orchistra in the magic Royal Albert Hall..!!!. It's happiness to see and listen the bautiful and adorable Cilla.
One of her best songs, god bless, you are missed Cilla, you were such a wonderful person, but now you are back with Bobby and your baby Ellen, back in her mums arms.
She really was very sweet .how sad to leave this world but so happy to hear this song of yours i dedicate it to my 3 nieces they are my world i live for them.thank you .
If you search for Ready Steady Go 1964, you can see the younger Cilla, when that song came out. Notice how her presentation had improved by 1973. In that old Ready Steady Go clip, Cilla says a few words to the presenter and shows what a modest girl she was then. By the way, following Cilla on that clip were a very young Rolling Stones. They were never my "cup of tea", but the group played so very well and Jagger had started to develop his "dancing" style, as he sang.
wow that was a standing ovation performance! brought back so many memories of when i was just a young child in primary school in the 1960s. great voice. cilla was my mini crush as a 6 year old!
just absolutely amazing, another great voice from liverpool. Must be something in the water there. No electronic gadgets, just put voice control and great range. Love ya Cilla
