@blueskysailing It's called swaddling, and because humans aren't fully devloped when they're born, we simulate the womb by swaddling them, reproducing the static noise they hear in the womb, and rocking them. It calms them down and helps them sleep. They tend to move their arms and legs a lot before they realise they have them and it wakes them up. In order for swaddling to cause deformities, they would have to be wrapped so tight for so long that it would suffocate them before it would cause any changes to their body.

Our grandson also gave grumpy faces when a baby. But as he has grown older, he smiles all the time. He is very smart, and I think as a baby, he didn’t like being a helpless baby, so it showed on his face.
