I would think a sober rider like yourself, who stays away from the drugs, the alcohol, and troublemakers would be a real asset to the trains. You’ve got eyes, ears, a camera and a cell phone, and a lot of knowledge. Priceless!
Damn, what a treat. Two of the greatest legends in railroad history!!! Shoestring and Jawtooth in the same video, what a huge privilege!!! Great video Mark!!
Wow, Jawtooth and Shoestring...both together! Fantabulous..far far better than Hollywood celebrities!! Y'all's stuff is for real!! This makes me happy...God bless you both!!!
Your videos sure do help me. They are real, everyday life on the road or tracks. Just makes me want to hop on as well. Also love the comedy in your videos like your eyes rolling and last video you waving at your self from your shadow. Keep it up sure helps us over stress and over worked people. Would like to ride with you one day.
I totally relate with the Laying out under a big huge tree, and finding it magical. There is magical moments, areas, and people all along our paths, it's just up to each of us to slow down and treasure the little things. Always a gem, these older videos I haven't seen.
Started watching Shoestring about May of 2022. What an incredible life this man has had. Never held down by a timeclock and has such pinpoint recall of so many adventures. Not an easy life, but he has no hard feelings and always sees the positive things. I lost my brother about a year ago and he reminds me of my brother in so many ways. Makes me feel that he could have such an easier life had he done it in a more conventional fashion, but it would not have been nearly as interesting. Been one hell of a trip for a hell of a guy.
Also, lost my youngest brother who was a Dispatcher in a metro rail system for 30 yrs (NYC MTA). My condolences to you. He had some wild train stories, yet always was positive in his life outlook before passing. Always glad to see Shoestring👍
always had a feelign jaw tooth was one of the few train spotters that didnt mind riders it has now been proven correct, so many spotters get really arsey about hobo/freight hoppers even in the EU its refreshign to see one thats not up there ass about it
@@corneliusnubston sorry i don't know of any he filmed, i've just seen him leave a few comments on videos by shoestring, stobe, ranoutonarail etc where he has mentioned doing a few trips many years ago but i don't remember specific ones
Nailed it Shoestring! Great video! Then to top it all off meeting up with Jawtooth was amazing!! I think you guys should make a long video together!! We even got some Awesome Shoestring stories!! Just a all-around fantastic video!!
14:30. I’m from Fort Worth and it’s funny seeing the TRE car all the way in Chicago/Cincy!? It’s a metro car that runs between Dallas and Fort Worth. 🤔😀🤷♂️
Like everyone one else says, for whatever reason these videos are so soothing and helping during these weird depressing times. I think a lot of us wish we could be as free as you! It might be a struggle some time but keep it up Shoestring your videos keep getting better. Maybe mix in a few shorter ones for some of us that dont have enough time to watch 40min. But I love the 40min vids too!! Heres to good health, safe travels, and a loving reunion with your father! :)
@@sowdiem6047 My retirement income is 6 digits before the decimal point. Republicans are the party of hate and fear. Oh you better give more to the wealthy or you will suffer. You are the fool that sucks up the propaganda of the wealthy. Everyone with a Government job has publicly funded health care. The wealthy don't need health insurance. But to give publicly funded health care to everyone would be "Socialism, Communism" the insurance industry, health care industry, Pharmaceuticals spend millions telling you social medicine is bad, Why dummy? The Senators and congressmen that say social medicine is bad, have it. Like they don't have enough income to pay for a policy? We pay it. Even Draft dodger tRUMP went to a military hospital and we picked up the tab.
I first camped traveled Lake Charles when there was NO fences inclosing the tracks. That's back when you were first getting started. Ya I have spent time under those bridges.
You and Jaw Tooth just proved that rail fans and hobo's can get along when serendipity allows common ground to muster proof. The frogger comment was very funny! Thank's to you guys I had a good morning.
I guessed your least favorite state to ride in as it’s nuts down there for sure ...and I haven’t been there yet to visit... safe travels and glad it’s spring for your summertime journeys to come as they will....
🤣 when I first went to Houston, I thought people were saying "water burger" too lol until I finally saw the whataburger sign. Also, I walked through that tunnel in Russell years ago; it was pretty neat, but I was really exhausted so it wasn't a very fun walk lol it's a good thing you didn't start heading up that light tower! That cop was ready to snatch you up! That's really neat that you ran into Jawtooth like that. Oh, and skunks definitely run! Lol I got chased by one before while walking home from work one day. This is a really really cool video. I think this is my favorite that I've seen so far. I love hearing the stories. I started riding in 2014 and I always wished I had started sooner. I love hearing about how things were in the 90s, 80, and even in the 70s. Just an idea if you're ever interested in making a little bit of a different video sometime: I think it would be really neat if you had a series of videos where you review some of your favorite gear. And I'm sure companies would love to send you prototype pieces of kit so that you can field test them and share real results. Just some ideas. Maybe some Do's and Don'ts or tips on how to pack or how to cook on the road. There are a lot of videos on youtube of people doing dumb shit on trains. I think it would be really helpful if there was proper information out there for people who are looking to start riding. Again, just some ideas. I love what you're doing and I really hope you have a blast with your dad and a water burger 🤠✌️
You tell some funny stories Shoestring. Lots of good stories too. It was neat seeing you and Jawtooth together on video. I’m a subscriber to his channel. He’s the one who got me hooked up on your channel. Anyway take care and have a good one. 👍👍👍❤️🙏🏻
So glad that you and Jawtooth got to meet in person. I found y all watching Jawtooth. So cool to see you in a video together. It s like the santa and m&m comecial when they meet, they do exist. Lol Happy Railing Shoestring!
Commented on your last video about how you were close to my hometown, had no idea you would be rolling through just a few days later. As someone who lives in the Cincinnati area it’s neat to see some familiar sights in your video. Also cool that you ran into Jaw tooth, he makes some great videos. Safe travels
Brian, aka Jaw Tooth is a personal friend of mine. He and I get out a couple of times a year railfanning. He is a real good guy. Next time you get back out this way, maybe he and I can hook up with you.
