In this tutorial we'll take a look at how to approach a simple Weaved fabric material in Octane. A weave pattern can form to basics to many different types of fabrics like Satin, Suits, Flannels, Linen, Burlap, and much more. The secret is, a simple OSL node that will make all the work for us!

Whoa! bro, ur tutorial always surprised me!! Can't imagine if you use Substance Designer, u will be the Material Master!!
@NewPlastic
@NewPlastic Год назад
Thanks dawg, yeah I've been looking into Substance Designer. Coming from the extreme limitations of Octane, it's like a wet dream. I think my biggest problem with Substance Designer is that, it's not TRULY procedural. I can design the materials procedurally, but then I end up with exported image files. So I always end up having to bake in the materials. But yeah great crazy program. I'll probably get into it soon.

If you don't have this pattern texture pack, can't you implement what comes out of this tutorial? (I know that this texture pack is charged.)
@NewPlastic
@NewPlastic Год назад
Yes of course, that's the point of the tutorials! I'm showing you how to make what I make, and also allow you to buy the packs. A lot of people find that it saves them time instead of recreating everything manually, or some just want to study the materials since the packs really explore these methods very thoroughly. And also, it just helps the channel!

Is it possible to apply image textures (for example a pattern, logo etc) on top of these procedural fabric textures?
@NewPlastic
@NewPlastic Год назад
Absolutely! Just add a an image texture, add an alpha version of that image (B/W) and then use the alpha image on a Mix node to mix between the color system and the image. Or you can use other blends like Add or Multiply or any other that might look cool

can these be used without nodes?
@NewPlastic
@NewPlastic Год назад
Hmm I mean you can use the material without touching the nodes, but if you want to build them or edit them, it'll be hard with accessing the node systme. But possible.
