Really interesting, thanks very much for the video. Interestingly enough because of the way that a fresnel lens projects the light forward it does actually change the softness of the light but in the opposite way to what most people would expect. The light will get softer the more you spot it in. This is super useful for when using large faced fresnels a distance away from talent as will take the edge off hard shadows. If you look at the shot of the light meter in the video you can see the effect. Great video though, thank you!

What if we put softbox on the light with Fresnel for soft light?What light would you recommend as the brightest?Is it better to use grids with softbox or Fresnel?Thank you!

Based on your demonstration on the beautiful fall off of a Fresnel light. Instead of having the spot directly on talent’s face, you can aim it off to the side of the face so that the beautiful fall off is on the talent’s face. However, you will lose f-stop power by using the edge of the light.

4:34 When you added the fresnel you still had the super hard shadow under her chin, so would it be better to tighten up the barn doors a bit to keep the light from forming that hard shadow?
