Lighting in small spaces makes things very difficult to achieve a cinematic image. In this video we're learning a variety of ways I will light a scene in a small space to still get a cinematic look.

Really good stuff learned alot from your FTF course. So here is the issue i'm running into. I have one of those round led lights that is already soft and a 30w light at 50 power with a softbox and grid on it, but I'm still getting alot of shadows on the walls and backdrop with no windows. Work isn't springing for alot of equipment, so I'm kind of limited and using my own lights for now. the background is two silver panels, which I suspect is also reflecting light although, my subject is standing in front of it, so he's blocking most of the bounce I believe.

shooting in small indoor spaces: light faces not spaces (for wider focal lengths espec) ceiling bounce at angles to try to emulate how the space is normally lit for natural vibes. you can add unnatural light at slightly goofier angles as fills larger sources soften everything and provide a more pleasing catchlight, so consider aputure lanterns/china balls/using a nets kit. also makes it easier on the performers to use nets, less harsh light in their face ideally 2 strong lights for subject n bg and 2 weaker lights as fills, though 4 strong lights is better reflectors and mirrors to fill in gaps cstands have better small footprints indoors than cheap $60 air cushioned lightstands and are more versatile sandbag everything coz u will trip. gaffe tape cables to reduce tripping hazard

Love the video once again my man! These tips are going to help out so much while i’m making my lighting plans for my upcoming short film. Also, I noticed you are shooting on the Fx3 in this video… Lately, I’ve been debating heavily whether to go for the Blackmagic 6k pro or the fx3. I know that gear doesn’t matter, but let me know your unbiased opinion. I do a lot of cinematography, some corporate work, some run and gun work, etc, etc. I’ll be coming from an A7iii, so not sure if that will change your answer 😂 Thanks dude!
@texelnet
@texelnet Год назад
I had an A7III and now i own a FX3. I really recommend it. Very cinematic results (10 bit, intraframe codec, 4:2:2, slog3 w/widegamut), and a great AF & IBIS for run and gun!. The lack of a VND can be solved with a filter...

I think he should drop the filters to 1 quater strength and not what he is rocking on the camera
@ViralVideos-pr2oi
@ViralVideos-pr2oi Год назад
@@LeonGale06 1/8 strength if anything. I just think these diffusion filters are another trend & when overused rly ruin the footage

@@ViralVideos-pr2oitrend. Think not. They have been used on film making for ever. Also sometimes film makers get vintage lenses to get same look to reduce sharpness
