A prisoner within the heart of the Alliance seat of power, Varok Saurfang is confronted not only by King Anduin Wrynn, but the choices that lie before him. WorldofWarcraft... Subscribe! www.youtube.com...
Saurfang: Behind you lies the body of my only son. Nothing will keep me from him Muradin: I can't do it. Get back on yer ship and we'll spare yer life Varian Wrynn: Stand down, Muradin. Let a grieving father pass. Saurfang: I will not forget this... kindness. I thank you, Highness
It's sad, but every time an olive branch gets extended, or mutual respect is shown between the Horde and Alliance, it still moves me. Even though it's happened over 9000 times at this point.
Here are some Wise words of a Taunka Chieftain: Honor is meaningless to a dead man. A warrior may throw himself into battle for honor's sake, but a chieftain is responsible for far more.
After this expansion there will no longer be 2 factions, we will join together! They know they have lost way too many players and this is their plan now.
I honestly thought he was going to make a reference to Anduin's father, as he allowed him to collect the remains of his son at Ice Crown Citadel, or at least to his own son. I like what they did though, no complaints, just between his Warbringer video and this, I figured they'd make a nod to it.

@@newtypexer0 No, but with this quality and capability of Blizzard they could make a good CGI movie, the thing is, they already hold a big part of market and there is no reason for such a move..
Because Blizzard are a bunch of biased morons who have a hard on for the Alliance. Ever wonder why we haven't really seen any Alliance bad guys or straight out villains since Ganathos or whatever that racist human guy's name was back in Warcraft 3?
Why doesn’t blizzard just make a series worth twenty minutes per episode but keep the rich lore and awesome effects? They’d smash that replay button if they did make a series.
I agree, Series like castlevania show that game base series/movies should be done with animations instead of live action, and with serveral season so you cant have enought time to explain lore properly and do interesting character development
As someone who doesn't play the games (i just watch the cinematics and know almost nothing about the lore) i think that would've been way more meaningfull. Still, they went for something that works, even tho is not as poetic.
@@rocko0214 it also isn't necessarily canon. The ICC raid has both Horde and Alliance perspectives depending on the player. An alliance player would say Varian let Saurfang take his son's body, and a horde player would say Saurfang was already there and it was the horde who killed him. Lorewise it was the "champions" who stormed icecrown, and faction-specific dialogue is hard to incorporate into the cinematics while remaining neutral
Saurfang: "In the name of the Horde, you are under arrest, Warchief." Sylvanas: "Are you threatening me, Saurfang?" Saurfang: "The Horde will decide your Fate" Sylvanas: "I am the Horde" Saurfang: "Not yet!" Sylvanas: "It's treason, then..... REEEEEEEEEE"
@@MattExzy more like Sylvanas: "Nathanos, the time has come...execyte Order 66." Nathanos: "It will be done, my queen." *blight bombs all Horde capitols, killing all standing Horde leaders so we can have more Horde regime change*
first rule of dealing with angry badasses..if you show fear, they will strike. if you escelate/try to intimidate, they will strike. Anduin is young, but he is no idiot and he was raised by the best.
Attention all WoW gamers: Azeroth is in great danger, and Anduin needs your help to wipe out all the Forsaken and defeat the Banshee Queen But to do this, he needs a lot of Azerite, and a couple of Longbois. All he needs is your credit card number, the three digits on the back, and the expiration month and year! But, you gotta be quick so that Anduin can secure the Azerite and achieve the EPIC... VICTORY... ROYALE
It varies. Some fights have a point to it sort of, but these days a lot of it is quite literally weapon manufacturers warmongering to sell more weapons. The Korean divide is sort of among the weirder situations. Ideologically North Korea is totally bankrupt, economically they should be as well, but for whatever reason China and Russia keep them propped up. While it's not a particularly active war, it has long been an entirely pointless one from the North's side, the South of course is flourishing, one of the top economies in the world. There should not be a "war" there, but there is. Basically Sylvannas is Kim Jong Un.
Everything about it evokes chilling depth in the story. Just like "Old Soldier" did. And making a whole movie would be a trial. They did a BTS yesterday about how they make them and it involved scanning actual people in and basically rotoscoping them.
There are those calling Saurfang a traitor for standing against Sylvanas... Fine. I'm okay with that. His name will go down in history alongside the other traitors who stood against their leaders.. Durotan Orgrim Doomhammer Cairne Bloodhoof Vol'jin
Conflict as aslways make the horde strong ? Wtf ? Those conflicts are the reason the hord is not yet the only faction on Azeroth. Plus those are only the traitors that you think were right, their's been others.
I can understand Durotan, Orgrim and Vol'Jin being against their leaders, but Cairne was just an idiot. He instantly blamed Garrosh for an attack instead of maybe realizing that Horde is not the only faction that had orcs, unless in some weird way he had not heard of the Twilight's Hammer Clan/Cult before.
nah they'd probably make their own watching ap with a monthly payment, then also charge you per show you download and if you buy the deluxe edition you also get extra things for blizzard games! You get 5 sprays for overwatch, an unusable battle pet for wow, an accessory for diablo that you'll never wear, 2 hots character you already own and a card back for hearthstone!
@@travisleonard4809 I agree, look at Star Wars: The Clone Wars. They can do something like that. Start from the very beginning like they were trying to do with the movie. The movie was well made, I really enjoyed it, everything about it and yes the effects were phenomenal. Everyone whines about everything. The changes were a strange decision, but it still was quite interesting. They can do it canon this time, if they stream it themselves there's no one stopping them.
I would too, and I'd be willing to pay the doubled ticket price, but most people wouldn't. Unfortunately, it's a big gamble for them to make for potentially no profit or even a huge loss.
It would be possible if their cinematic department was like ten times its size. And it's already pretty big as it is. The problem isn't money, it's the work force. This 3 minutes cinematic is made in two to three years, from writing to completion. And the final year is when they start making the 3D elements etc. This one took longer if you consider that the Anduin, Saurfang and Genn model were already made for last year's cinematic (BFA opening). You could say "Well just hire more people !", but A) it would cost way too much to pay these people for 3+ years as an investment, and B) the current team is already the best in the field, if they increase the size of their team, they'll have to hire people with lesser skills. Which would either increase the time of production, or reduce the quality. That being said ... It's always good to dream. Maybe one day.
I'm pretty sure no one else will bother commenting on Anduin's eye pupils so I will. The fact that they even animate how the pupils change in the light and in darkness, is purely amazing. On the other side, is it just me or does Anduin looks younger in that cinematic? Blizzard come on! :O
I also noticed he looks younger, but I went and looked at the other BFA cinematic and he looks the same age. It's the in-game model that looks much older.
Probably with no nametag people would think "Who is that old dude" :P Funnily enough, he still is the only worgen in cinematics, and we still haven't seen gnomes!
Love or hate the story, doesn't matter. The cinematic crew at Blizzard is truly amazing and we ALL wish someday Activision errr Blizzard will dump a truck load of cash in their laps to make a full length movie. Thank you guys and gals for all your hard work.
@@Chunnibyoubaka "Half" is generous. It was not that great. Real humans ruined it. Blizz's cinematics are untouchable and the entire movie should have been CGI. And with better writing. The people who make the game cinematics were probably not completely in control of the movie script, that's my opinion anyway. But I would love to see a full length feature cinematic WoW movie for sure, a real one.
Torço pelo mesmo viu. Espero que não um caminhão, mas um navio de dinheiro mesmo. E que não tenha limite de tempo. Quatro horas de duração, aí vamos nós!
As someone who quite recently read the (Before the storm). All i can say is, finally they're getting back on track and for the rest of you who wants a cinematic movie. They already filming the 2nd warcraft movie.

1:34 seeing Saurfang turn away in humility and shame when heard an enemy admired him and thought he a man of honor.. I love subtle details like this.. Saurfang doesn't feel he deserves to be acknowledged as one of honor at that moment. My favorite part of this cinematic, simply because of little details like that.
So, in BFA - an expansion focused on the faction war - if you're an Alliance player, you're on the Alliance side. If you're a Horde player but you prefer Saurfang, you're also on the Alliance side.
Dear Netflix, Convince Blizzard to collaborate on a CGI series of a quality that matches these shorts. Start at the Titans - work your way through time. You could charge me double my normal subscription and I'd pay it gladly.
What struck me most was Anduin's faith, in peace and in honor. When facing the dangers of war, his father chose to protect his people through strength and valor, but he chose to do so through diplomacy and collaboration. He went into Saurfang's cell, that of an enemy leader over twice his size, believing that Saurfang still maintains his honor and would do the right thing following his honor. A common value that is held higher than the two factions at war. From Saurfang's response, he had his confirmation. His father wrote to him before the ultimate sacrifice, "Peace is the noblest aspiration. But to preserve it, you must be willing to fight." And this is Anduin fighting for peace. Both Varian and Anduin are great kings, but they are great in very different ways.
anduin has always been a good judge of character if nothing else. his pure soul really helps him see people's true colors. the only time it failed is probably when he hoped sylvanas would be understanding. but boy is she out of it....
@@shaderunner8220 To be fair, too, Anduin never accused Sylvanas of betraying his father, even while Shaw and Greymane were frothing at the jaws. He was ready to take her hand in peace, and accept that she left because she had to. And yet, Wight Knights cheerfully thumb their noses at the "boy king", and blame him for the war.
And Sylvanas is a great Warchief. If you don't mind being raised as an undead. But in all seriousness I really like Sylvanas. She's one of my favourite characters in the WC universe. I'm saddened to see that they made her such a villain. She never was a sweetheart but she had this respect towards living. I guess that the vision she saw after she jumped from the Frozen Throne changed her forever.
@@aggis3237 Sylvanas is a great character but not one that should lead the horde. She is now set up to either die or do something really big to redeem herself and her actions. With the coming patches the big characters in the Horde realize that Sylvanas is going into madness and they turn away from her. Anduin, on the other hand, might not have such an extreme, emotional and drama driven character so far but he is a good leader. As Azerite was discovered he thought about how it could change the world, how it can be used to help many people and on the other side Sylvanas thought about how she can use it to kill and destroy.
@@CathrineMacNiel , can you read? Varian granted nothing because there was no Varian in Horde's raid, he was only in Alliance's raid. Watch deathbringer saurfang killed by Horde video. Why do you think that Alliance raid is canon?
same question to you, why do you think that the horde version is canon? And yeah sorry, I overlooked that you specifically meant the horde version of that event.
$10 bucks Saurfang sacrifices himself to stop Sylvanas's evil plan in the nick of time (or saves Anduin). Takes a black arrow to the chest, stirs the hearts of all the members of the horde to turn against her and bring about her downfall.
It's too big of a story for a movie. A tv series (regular animation) would be so much better. Blizzard could tell their stories without watering it down for the sake of a time crunch.
Can I just say this? I adore Anduin as the king. He’s willing to do whatever it takes for peace even making allies with an old enemy. I love this. He shows so much growth as a character and it’s fantastic.
there a many hints that shes actually fighting the big bad evil as there are that she is the evil also think about it undeads are pretty immune to the void none of arthas subordinates had any void corruption even tho yogg was around the corner
At this point, I don't even care anymore. Even if she loses and dies, I just want them to let me side with her (like in the Saurfang questline) and not be forced to follow this traitor. We could have had Malfurion's head if not for him and his honor.
@momo xmomox Saurfang stopped Sylvanas killing Malfurion long enough for Tyrande to save him. Malfurion was basically dead and Saurfang saved him by calling for honour
Madame Khitai In Legion, there’s a quest chain Alliance-side that involves traveling with Anduin to the Broken Shore so he can experience firsthand the horrors of the war his soldiers are fighting against the Burning Legion. Highly recommend checking it out, there’s some excellent character development for Anduin who has some pretty big shoes to fill considering his predecessors Varian and Llane.
It was Anduin.....he freed Saurfang I thought Saurfang escaped on his own during the Horde questline when tracking him somehow but this....this changes everything I thought
Anduin has truly grown into a strong and valiant king. He still strives for a new era where the Horde and Alliance can finally coexist without bloodshed against one another. Even now, he is still devoted to that dream. Anduin will always be my King, now and forever.
Can't be done. 3 minutes at this quality is incomparable to what it'd be like at 90 minutes. The CG in the last WoW movie was really bad at parts, just as an example.
*Fixed Anduin: "Why didn't you kill me?" Saurfang: "Could kill you now." Anduin: ("Hmm, he does raise a fair point, but i'm going to call that bluff since he didn't front before.")
The alliance are in this position because of their laxed politics. Short of an ironclad cease fire that could drag neutral factions into dealing with the party that violated it. They should have had spies everywhere. Like the attack on darnassus should have yielded an ambush + defensive responsive from entire alliance forces and home field advantage with defences that countered horde. Instead, their strongest player gets ganked 2v1 another on same level takes him and abandons the battlefield, leaving darnassus even weaker. After Garry's initial invasion they should have had a prediction date for this on their calendar after sylvanas betrayed them on the broken shore.
Was hoping for varok to tell anduin about the time varian let him take his sons body in ICC and maybe paying his father back the kindness by sparing anduin
Why do you like Anduin? He just admitted to an orc warchief that the Alliance is weaker than the Horde and he can't defeat them and Sylvanas. He can go and kiss her boot and surrender next month who knows. Weakling. If only he let Genn killed her in Lordaeron's throne room he would have saved thousands of lives. But he is such a nice boy! Now he needs the big orc to do the dirty work for him. I want another king now!
Anyone miss Varok's old voice? Not saying the new one is bad, but how he sounded when he was at Death Bringer's rise, retrieving his son's body, conversing with Varian, was what made me really take note of him. Sounded exactly like a veteran orc who despite losing everything and seeing a lifetime of war, still adheres to his code of honor.
I think the change of voice is a good pace. I don't think he's lost that veteran sounding aspects of his voice, if anything it just sounds like he's getting older, more weary. Not that he wants to stop fighting, he's conflicted, almost alone in his age and lineage of old, good soldiers.
The film looked fine, in my opinion. Just lacked a story. I wish they'd make the Arthas storyline into a film. As epic as Lord of the Rings, and as tragic as Hamlet and Macbeth combined.
@@PanSurtido I mean I liked it, but to me a lot of it was cringy or forced. I know its hard to condense the story, but they changed too much for my liking
