Life has to go on no matter what and saying goodbye to a loved one is one of the hardest things you will have to do in life .Death is not discussed much in life people tend to avoid it as we don't like to think of our own mortality on this earth . Thankyou for this one . Brings reality home for sure !
They kiss on the lips twice in this video ... the second being the ' Kiss of death ' is quite a perfect poignant metaphor - they synched up the second kiss with the lyrics ' time to die ' . I was thinking about the video and realized a hospital gown she was wearing in the video wouldn't have likely been the reality / - If you're going to heist someone from hospital you would bring clothes for them to change into / but for signs in the video for the viewer that she IS TERMINAL with her disease it was important to give that clue . Def. the most emotional thing I've seen all year . Such good artists / ALL INVOLVED in the production . Thanks guys ! I really appreciate you taking the time and energy to review this song / video .
Shawn and Gina, This is a nice piano ballad. Very nice orchestration and dramatic sound in the music. The lyrics have meaning. You are both right, it is a powerful video presentation and emotional experience. You both made good points in describing the story behind the song and video. Yes. the visuals go with the song.. Yes, it is hard to part with loved ones.A very serious subject to deal with and yoiu both did a wonderful job on your reaction.
We in the west have a very strange relationship to death - Especially when compared to other cultures. Hindu for example. The legacy of judeo-Christian history, culture and faith is the death is a grand sacrifice and that life is a precious commodity that should be held onto at practically all costs. We don’t apply this morality to animals of course which is why we’re prepared to kill/eat them or euthanise them if they’re pets. In reality though death is merely a chapter of the life story and it plays a crucial part in the circle of life (the lion king has ruined this turn of phrase lol). If we didn’t fear death quite so much it would likely have a great effect on how we deal with a lot of other issues that face our societies.
Interesting perspective, i would push back on your view of what Christians think of life and holding onto to it at all cost. A reading of the New Testament would be debunk your thought process on that. Thanks
