This is the UBBS Bulletin Board System as VAX89A3 DECUS SIG Tape now held in the DECUS archive - see slave.hecnet.eu/archive/DECUS-...
This BBS is from 1988 and was used at the University of Arkansas. The software was ported from VAX/VMS 4.6 to Alpha VMS 8.3 and is shown running via a VT320 and 2400 baud modem dial-up link to an AlphaServer 1000A. The AlphaServer is a 1996 vintage 300 Mhz/512MB Alpha with an internal 8 drive Storageworks cabinet and an external BA356 cabinet housing an additional 6 drives.

beautiful setup - I have couple old Unix workstations SGIs,SUN,NeXT - outstanding build quality and one thing in common all made in USA - solid and made to last. I truly miss that quality I'm totally bored with shitty China made electronics and PCs. Hope one day I will be able to buy expensive American Made computer designed by good engineers and build by well paid workers. Actually one can say that about cars and other things - I'm just tired with lo-qual consumer stuff - boring

Memories!!! In 1996 at UB we had VT 220s and VT320 running off vt100 standards PINE IRS Okay...I have just dated myself.

Super ! - Beautiful - I remember how hard it was to download naked chicks from BBS in Sweden.. well not hard but time consuming - I had Amiga with a slow modem.

How did you connect the two modems? I'd like to try this but it would seem some kind of a fake phone system would need to be made? What do you use to implement that?

Thing with English Arkansas style back in the daze longer than you'd count from nineteenth nerve owes break dance was Not and bad aren't in talk know too Englishman u.k as slang was basic tune in, drop out, as bad language and not isn't a black and white negative non do this or that thing as directives are a no go? Basic Hayes modem syntacts breaks as most were UNIX terminal talks write before this was known BBS?
