The world consumes a huge amount of chicken meat with barely a thought for the process. We decided to raise some chickens for meat & in this video, the time has come to process them.
Rather than show too much detail, I want to explore the emotional cost of raising our own birds and look at the ethics of industrial scale production of meat in general.
We will never look at supermarket chicken in its aseptic plastic wrap in the same way, but we learned a lot.
This video contains some scenes that some may find upsetting.
We have tried to show the reality of the process without including too many images, but to provide proper context it has been necessary to be honest and transparent about the process and that has meant including some content that will be flagged in case you wish to look away.
Many videos gloss over the emotional
reality of meat production.
In going through the process we have re-evaluated our attitude to the topic and our views on the whole subject.
After much planning, we left England 2 years ago to build a new life in beautiful rural Portugal #SerraDaEstrela - It's not been easy, but it has been wonderful.
