Well, Kano here.... Love the hotel... of yesteryear. Not 100% back up to par since the reopening. It would have been better if you disclosed the day of the week and the time you visited, along with the cost or at least a video shot if there was a sign stating the cost per person, at the beginning instead of the end of your video review. The Brownies at 2:34 are 'cake like' which are not as popular as the 'fudge like' type. Also, contains nuts, which is a less popular choice. Not sure of the % of tree nut allergies (different than legume / peanuts) in the Pinoy population, but for a hotel with international clientele, it is something to consider, especially with children choosing their own food off the line. Speaking again on the day and time you visited, I am concerned that as you progress along the line, dish after dish, plate after plate and pot after pot... appears untouched by diners. As are the serving spoons. This is a sad reflection on the restaurant traffic. I was there at the hotel but not at the restaurant in November and again December. I was asked by at least 2 staff members if I was a hotel guest (no, a walk-in to the lobby entertainment at 8pm-10pm). In looking at the sparse number of of diners in your video, I wonder if the hotel is advertising outside of the hotel. I believe not. Which raises the question of food waste, storage and reheating - reserving on tomorrow's food line. Cold cuts 6:39 untouched.... 7:20... wearing a Furman silver bracelet? Silver at today's price + - 1,550p an oz. is becoming popular again as gold fluctuates around 136,000p an oz. The sushi / sashimi at 8:12 looks good, but the wasabi is actually a food grade tooth paste (old style Crest or Colgate) base with coloring and flavoring. Much cheaper than the real thing. Interesting sound difference at 10:53 where the background sound of other diners suddenly was lessened. Chimichurri sauce (Argentina) compliments beef... not fish. Ah... the Red Velvet cake 15:18 is NOT acceptable. And I have complained about it before to the Lobby Cafe management. What you were served is simple school cafeteria sheet cake that is often seen in schools and corporate events. NOT what should be served at a **** or ***** rated hotel restaurant. Lemon zest appears to be too sour, as it is made from lemon concentrate instead of fresh squeezed.... 19:17 as you tasted the brownie and commented it was dry.... that is because your mouth was anticipating a fudge type brownie, but you bit into a cake type brownie. Keep in mind all hotel deserts are production made (outside vendor???) and are cheaper versions than you would have made in your home. 21:12 shows 2 other members in your party. Both look disinterested and (of course) the man is on the phone! 21:17.... way too many empty seats! Outside advertising (think signs / promos) at Glorietta is needed. Your female companion tries, but struggles to think of nice things to say about the restaurant. I understand. Your male companion mentions in a nice way how the restaurant is not crowded... but that raises questions of how long can the restaurant produce such a wide variety and quantity of foods waiting for diners that simply are not coming? I like your reviews and have subscribed. The reason I take the time to write long comments (late at night here) is that I hope the Shangri-La management also watches and reads comments.... Something must improve the foot traffic from outside diners or the restaurant can not continue to survive with the majority of diners who are also hotel guests. With now 3, yes 3 Shangri-La hotels in NCR, the Makati location is facing grater in-house completion. The business model of the international chain relies more on their own Shangri-La app for bookings than the majority of other hotels which use all of the internet hotel booking companies. The current hotel prices per night are 12K + which is not inline with most other Makati hotels. One way to measure the success or failure of the current business model is to watch your review and others like it, all showing far to many empty seats... Most of us eat 3+ times a day....a fact that apparently management is not aware of or is not trying to capture a larger share of the market.
