One of the best knitting machine videos I have ever seen. Very clear, super practical and doesn’t go on and on with a lot of unnecessary chatter (ugh!) Now I gotta check out your channel. Great job!
Hi, I used to use a sentroo but now I have an AddiI noticed there’s a huge difference in the hat size. How can two needles possibly make that much difference and how do I make the Addi knit loose enough without dropping stitch
If a person only had the 48n could the patterns for the other machines be converted some how to make them on the 48n? Hope my question makes sense and thanks for your videos!
I actually just watched a video by Emily Smith where she shows how to do just that. I'd share the link to the exact video, but RU-vid doesn't like links in comments.
My Sentro 32 makes a 5" tube. I just made 50 ear warmers using various yarns, mostly ILTY, Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek, Mainstays Sparkle, RH Soft and RH Sparkle and they all came out 5". Is Big Twist is a lighter 4 weight? I have not used it yet.
This is good information. If I want to make gloves with a tight weave, can a 48 machine still work? Do you need to measure your hand and wrist as if you were just knitting with needles and not a machine?
I doubt you can get a tight weave with these machines and there's not enough needles for fingers. Most machine needles are about a 5.5-6mm. No need to measure the width of your hand because the circumference of the machines are fixed. You can calculate out a length.
Thanks! I am trying to find a video showing the various uses for each size. I currently have the 48 and wondering which would be the next most useful size for the projects i like most. Do you have a video like that? Thanks again
Still trying to find that 32 needle one, but for 2 and 2.5 inch tubes. try a vintage Mattel Knitter (16 needles) and a Amigurumi egg knitter (18 needles)
Do you feel that the new 32 needle is worth the cost? It seems to me there would be a lot of uses for a tube that size. I was saving up for the Addi king but thinking I might like to buy this one first. Any thoughts?
I think the size is perfect for headbands or ear warmers. My machine only likes lighter weight worsted or DK weight so that is a downside. It really depends on what you want to make. I love my Addi king and it's my go to machine for just about everything.
Thank you! You won't be able to make socks, like we wear with shoes, but you can make bed socks or comfy socks for lounging. I would suggest finding a sock fuzzy yarn that you would like to use for socks and make a sample on the 22n. Fuzzy yarn will stretch but the machine size will be determined by your leg size (at the widest point).
I use the 32 needle to make adult socks (22 needle for kids socks) there are tutorials for making socks on the machine, it's complicated I usually just knit the leg part on the machine but pick up the stitches and do the heel shaping and foot part by hand.
Hi. I'm interested in making socks for someone with 16" calves. What size machine do you recommend? They really like wool socks or other natural fibers.
It depends... how tight or loose you want the socks to fit. I would probably start with 32n and see how it fits. Keep in mind that this will not make socks to wear with shoes. The knitting is too big. These would make house or bed socks.
@@lineedemouy1047I know this is an older comment but I made socks on my 22n and wear them with crocs and other shoes no problem. I’m also a huge fan of thick and fuzzy socks so I’m used to it. I used red heart super saver brushed to make my socks.
No I don't... each machine is different and each yarn is different. You can see in my samples that the same number of rows was used in and each sample is a different length. The best thing to do is use measure your gauge and calculate from there.
I am so confused.People have given me short answers but not really any help.IF I want to make new born too adult size hats how many machines do I need and what needle count. Please and thank you
Newborns have little heads... the larger machines will fit but they will a little wide. I would suggest toddler to adult can be made on either of the larger machines. For babies, I would suggest the 40n. For standard head measurements, you can search google to see how head size compares to tube size. These measurements are going to determine which machines will work best for which size.
Thank you! It's Joann Big Twist Value Worsted. I like to buy it when it's on sale and you can use another 20% coupon for online orders picked up in the store.
