One of the criticisms of the 2012 APA Report on Circumcision is the fact it poses as a scientific paper, but makes no effort to explain the physiology and function of the foreskin, normally considered a critical part of discussion of a surgical intervention. It's remarkable that there's so little understanding that the foreskin is a complex of several parts, structures, and functions that we don't even fully understand. Too many don't know that it contains the most sensitive parts of the human penis, usually the frenulum being the must sensitive. Some mutilations leave a bit more of the frenulum than others, but what nerve damage is done, even as far as the central nervous system, including 'rewiring' the brain to process sensations differently, is unknown.
