Cities Skylines Beginners Guide - Building A Downtown With The New DLC 

my only concern about this DLC is, the skyscrapesr are act as tourism or park buildings not act as residential, office or commercial buildings, makes it not realistic tbh. but the buildings are awesome!

Skyscrapers is definitely worth it, I went back and changed some of my older cities unique buildings skyscrapers with the DLC and it looks so much beautiful and more realistic coming from a console user

Of course skyscraper worth it because this is a big deal for console and vanilla players. This will drastically improve the landscape. Btw you need to relocate the high capacity police headquarter at the local road or small road so they don't have to turn around and can access to any small road rather than collector road at 43:45. If you want the highway function more efficiently, use lane mathematics. This technique is very useful and even use in real life. Like 58:30 for example, I use different lane highway so AI itself can drive dedicated turns.

One thing you could do is give the cloverstack interchange some better lane mathematics. It makes no sense for a 2-lane ramp to merge into a three-lane highway without getting extra lanes on the highway. Also, the bus terminal would be an interesting idea, especially with intercity buses.

I didn't think to place the like buildings together. I was worried about things looking too repetitive but seeing you do it here, it looks really good. I can't wait to try this out in my current city! Thank you for the inspo :) I've really enjoyed kind of building along with you.

Great video as always, might I suggest you use an underground metro system too in the downtown? Just an extra added transportation system.

@CityZilla you put the smaller version of two similar buildings on the same side about 90% of the time. If your orientation is facing the rest of the city, the smaller one is nearly always on the left.

I think traffic manager should be part of the vanilla package. There is no point in struggling with traffic when the vanilla gameplay is really not realistic. enjoying your build !!! 🙂

I dislike the Metro line Revamp because it forces people to go downtown even thought they don’t need to. For right now, I understand why you did that since two lines is redundant but the more you build, I think transfers inside and outside of downtown will be better. This way the system won’t me congested.

Ya i agree the 9 tile limit can be frustrating I like to play with the mod that gives me all the tiles and then downgrade all the roads and upgrade as I go

The Europaturm is the tower of europe, located in Frankfurt in the financial district.

I could be wrong but it seems to me that between the pedestrian road and the one ways in the wrong direction, you have not provided any access to the downtown from that roundabout. You might want to trace the routings. I love this series.

I noticed you didn't use much the no zone tool leaving you with 2 by 2 commercial in the downtown. Was that a design choice?

Sometimes going crazy is not that bad ;) I say the pack worth 5 dollars and I really loved the downtown! Traffic is a huge issue though. Are you planning any ferry routes?

NGL...Those Island Park Towers from Japan look like the Nakatomi Plaza building.

@36:10. It looks like you used two of the small fountain plazas. But you were worried about replicating the statues and fountains. You could use the small fountain plaza across from a statue plaza, and offset its anchor point so that it lines up with the statue plaza ... Then use landscaping to fill the gap so that it keeps the geometric symmetry with variation of the statue and fountain features.

I think it's totally fair that a city might commission a pair of statues from the same artist. Maybe we can suppose the two have slight differences you can see from the ground and not from as far out as we are.

Dont know why, how, and when you Cities skylines youtubers got an idea that roundabouts are some magic solution to handle all highway traffoc, but one I just saw early on the video was one of the worst I have seen!? As what you just basically did, was: You just cramped ALL incoming (and outgoing, for that matter) traffic to that area to a 4 lanes of that roundabout! That's, 3 incoming lanes from highway and 2 more from that 4-lane road to a one less lane. And to make that roundabout even more congested, theres at least 5-6 roads linked to it, so that CANT work very well, as those are basically all just plain crossings that slow it down just further. What I would have done: Made a highway doing a big loop back onto itself with proper 1 or more proper offramps. And yup. You cant paint concrete on vanilla game. But if you buy Parklife DLC you can plot all of those Parklife decals (and most of the other park assets too) to anywhere! And they for sure look way better than vanilla concrete! PS: How many citizens you oughta pay that park fee as you didn't fence it out AT ALL!? :D Also: Mass transit is NOT magical solution to every case! At least not without careful thinking, and especially on vanilla. As all of those skyscrapers are gonba attract LOT of tourists so you have to be prepard to handle not ONLY tour own cities ppl but all of that tourist traffic too! And such a large traffic hubs you made there were sure that train/metro-loads of ppl would pop out of those buildings constantly, that are gonna congest all nearby pedestrian crossings so car traffic is gonna get nightmare if you dont figure out solutions for that

I have to ask. Have they done engine upgrades and performance optimisations for the game with patches? Mainly because they are still releasing expansions and the game has 7 years now. They could have improved UI looks as well along with UX. At least resolving what many mods did.

For the Xbox version, I don't know why they didn't add parking garages and parking lots along with the airports DLC. However, I do like the new skyscrapers dlc, and I guess the ONLY way to get more tiles is to get a PC. I have been praying for more tiles and parking lots In forever
