Just bought one of these full lume Promasters from an Italian official Citizen dealer, (very difficult to get here in the UK ) It will compliment my black dial one, I love these watches and your mod has improved what was already a fantastic watch, well done !
Hi. Please can you let me know the seller name? Are they on ebay registered as a citizen retailer as then I presume we can go to citizen UK direct if any issues under the warranty? How was the process, did you get stung on import duties? I too am struggling to find one in the uk. Many thanks
@@spingybingy5610 Hi, yes I purchased it from eBay it was £230 from an Italian dealer. The buying experience was faultless and super quick delivery. The advertisement certainly states that the dealer was an official Citizen dealer. I paid no import duty but I did buy it before Brexit. The dealer was Adriano Gioielli from Venice and the Ebay name was Clodiatime, They still have some for sale Just search Citizen Promaster full lume.
Nice comments and attention to detail, didn't knew about the steel tubing in the strap. I'll probably get the traditional black, but this full lume is fantastic.
Complimenti!
Nice video! I just purchased mine also from Italy and now it comes with the Miyota 8204 Cal Movement (Hacking and handwind). I paid 189 Euros for it with shipping included.
Great close ups of the hands and dial. I was curious if the hands were black or silver as all the pictures you see they are black. Now you've answered my question. It's interesting that the hands have that burnished finish. Great video thanks. Subbed 👍
This model is also available with a bracelet, model number is NY0040-50W, i have that one and the blue dial blue strap NY0040-17LE. Luckly i have the 2018 Asia limited edition NY0080-12x limited to 999 pieces.Love them all, the size and the look.Might get the 2020 limited lumed dial version, there has been significant changes to the size ,strap and is fitted with a sapphire glass. They are some how addictive especially the Fugu limited series colour ways.In europe there are a couple of titanium models with green or blue dial.Hopefully in next gen models they introduce the 9000 series movement.
I wish they would have made the hands Black. No need for Lume hands against a dial, and would be more legible during the day. Nice review. I forgot to add -I have the eco drive Black version and also put it on a shark mesh Milanese. I had one like yours but swapped it for the quick adjust Milanese because my wrists seem to get bigger outside working....and are smaller in the air conditioned house--so I like the fast adjust. I did like the look more of the bigger shark mesh like your though.
My favourite watch and the best budget dive watch in my opinion. Shame you didn't show how you did the mod with the crystal...Some say it is very difficult to get the bezel off. Would have been good to see:)
Citizen has upgraded the movement on the more recent NY0040 models. They now are equipped with the 8204 movement with hacking and handwind. The movement is engraved on the case-back, so something to pay attention to when buying one. Old movement is 8203.
No, the crystal have the same edge thickness of the original one and if you replace the gasket with a new original one, you will not lose any water resistance. Citizen original crystal gaskets are L shaped instead the aftermarket one are I shaped, and that makes big difference in terms of water resistance. Probably they label the crystal 100m mainly for warranty issues because they don't know how it will be assembled by the final user. But the crystal itself can't reduce the water resistance, other components and assembly procedure does.
Great video, just bought the same one. How hard was it to change crystal? What measurements does the crystal and gasket need. But most important is what is that beautiful music with those metal drums(first song) playing in the background? Thanks for your help!
Replacing the crystal is an easy job but you need the right tool (a good crystal press). You have to bought the dedicated Crystal/gasket for that model, it has custom measures and generic sized crystals or gaskets didn't fit. Take a look on crystaltimes web shop I found mine there. The music should be an handpan cover of "once again".
Grazie!
I've got this model, full Lume face seems a nice idea but in reality I find the hands gets washed out and the contrast not that good, hands against dial...
Dear Michele, I really enjoyed your video regarding modding of this beautiful Citizen Full Lume. Since couple of weeks I also own one (NY0040-50W delivered with metal bracelet). I have seen that handwinding of this Miyota 8203 movement is possible, however, I don’t know exactly how... Can you help me how to wind this watch by hand (which position of the crown and which direction)? Many thanks in advance, L. Fulop
Very useful video well done. Do you find that the blue undercoating on the crystal doesn't compliment the lume? I guess crystaltimes also does clear anti-reflective as well?
If the blue ar is on a dome crystal, it won't put off the dial colour, you will just get some blue sparkle when you twist the watch under a light source. If the crystal is flat it may put off or blind completely the colour of the dial on certain angles (I'm not a fan of flat crystals with coloured ar)
How did you remove the bezel to insert the sapphire. There isn’t much tutorial on how to pry the bezel open. A little information will come in handy Thanks
Nope, the crystal came out easily without removing the bezel and the new sapphire could be pressed in fine with the bezel installed. The bezel is well secured with an strong spring, you have to pry it of in order to remove it. But if there is no need for doing that, it's better to avoid if you won't risk to damage it.
@@Mikicomi23 thank you for the reply. I have 2 FUGU Asia limited beautiful watches in different color ways and have been wanting to get them upgraded with sapphires.
@@Mikicomi23 so if I get you correctly, 1. Remove the bracelet or strap and spring bars 2. Remove the crown 3. Remove the movement 4.remove the crystal from inside using the press 4 insert the sapphire in from outside using the press while the bezel remains fixed to the watch case right? Will the steps stated above be the right order? Thanks again!
Great choice! Just a quick advice, if you didn't already notice, the watch use a L shaped crystal gasket, so just pay attention to that during the replacement of the crystal ;)
It's not a standard size. It's 29.8mm. You have to find one of the exact same size because it is mounted on a L shaped gasket so the size needs to be accurate for ensure the water resistance. Anyway crystaltimes.net aka seikomods.com sell it.
Beautiful video! Very well done. I have been looking at this watch for some time. They appear harder to find. I was never a fan of the mesh bracelet but you sold me on it. Cheers
