"As many languages as you speak you are that many times a person." What a great quote.

This is one of the most vital subjects for humanity and am very moved by the depth of understanding which Dr. Edwin Gerard brings to it and to his presentation. This should be shared widely around the world!

I couldn't agree more with dr. Gerard. My children and I are multilingual, I have lived in different countries and each single language that I speak has helped me bond better with the locals. Every extra language expands the horizons of a person. Great Speech!!!

Thanks a lot for this amazing talk, Dr Edwin. Although my father is still struggling to learn English in his sixties, he encouraged me to learn English, Spanish and French (beside Portuguese, our native language) so that I could get in touch with other people. I'm 21 and I've been to Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica, USA, England, France, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Indonesia and Australia. Nowadays, I'm sure that I wouldn't have met so many incredible people and learned so much from traveling if I hadn't followed my dad's advice.

Since I was a kid I could speak 3 languages . Average Indians can speak 3 languages honestly . We all are taught 3 languages in school .

Wonderful talk and case! I've brought up my son who was born in Spain to speak native speaker level English. I've written about the 5 key strategies that any parent can use(even non natives) to ensure their child speaks a second language from birth. THE 5 KEY STRATEGIES OF SUCCESSFUL BILINGUAL FAMILIES by Simon Brampton.

A word (though not its exac meaning) I learned from a French oboe speaker (though in Germany, and she was perfectly bilingual) was "bruxisme", it had to do with the impact of her profession on her health. So it appears things are somewhat changing.
