Not a bad review of the C4X except for the "electric cars are required to save the world" speech. Modern ICE cars are much much cleaner now. I drive electric but still think people should be allowed to use whatever modern technology suits them.

I agree Nobby, with regard the 45 kw battery. What is that about? Did Citroen just feel they had to make an electric car as I cannot believe the sales will be that great. Great review, as always.

I’d imagine they’re somewhat limited by having to use the same platform that Stellantis currently use. With the E3008 coming with a near 100kWh battery (heavy/expensive) I’d imagine Citroen won’t be long getting other options but 45 for the size of the car (and to be fair premium enough feel of the car), its a bit strange.

There is a 54kwh battery with uprated more efficient motor available in the UK market which hopefully will also be available in Ireland soon. This should help with the agreed shortcoming, but would you do a practical test soon for comparison please.....for a Citroeniste of over 40 years?!

Amen to that Nobby! It's the price of EVs to both buy and insure that would put me off, that and the range especially with this one plus it'd fail the can I get my bike in the back of it challenge for whilst I know the seats do fold down the boot opening would make it very awkward.

Just purchased here in Italy for 29K euros thanks to the statal discount(5K) and Stellantis discount(5K) it seems to me a good trade! 360 Km of autonomy isn't too bad also.

may 22 eC4 47 k on the clock now..paid 37k after grants..using it to deliver curries in Waterford..best efficiency 10k/Kwh (10kwh/100k) summer time..worst 5.6km/Kwh freezing cold in jan ...looking to get a MG4 in jan ...hoping a ground up EV will do better ..but i doubt it....cost me 19.80 euros to do 600km/week in summer 46 in coldest week last winter...paying 33c per kwh to teh energy monguls..just got same deal for 12 months p/s also interested in teh BYD Dolphin

Its not just the price, its the way they are marketed, the manufacturers want you changing every 3 -5 years, they pitch these cars as lifestyle vehicles and fashion accessories, theyve designed and pushed financing that is aimed at ensuring you change every 3-5 years, they cant claim to be serious about the environment if thats what they are doing.

I am looking forward to the 54 kWh Ec4X. It has been announced, and on the Citroen UK site it says 260 mile range. But when you search for one, it is impossible to find. The rest of the hype piece talks only for the 50 kWh version with 221 mile range specified. What is going on? Deliberate misinformation?

I would give it a dig hatchback. The silhouette would not need to change by that. But the practicability would be greatly enhanced.

Oh, I meant a big hatchback. But many thanks for the heart! A bigger battery would be great, but my fear would be a bigger price as a result.

At the ev show in the RDS today and the Citroen lads said it’s starts at just over 32 grand and the top spec model is just over 35 grand , was he telling porkies ?

Actually 54 kWh battery , 51 usable and much efficient. 156 hp motor (ancient 136)

I have ec4 hatch. Really love the car and yes it would be great to have bigger battery. Other niggles: needs a rear wiper and the Citroen app was sent to punish people who have Citroens! Usual complaints of course, lack of chargers especially accessible ones♿ Price of leccy and frustration with ESB 45min overstay when their GB units allow 60min in line with most others. I hate Tesla's, (apart from S) they are woeful looking things. However much I hate them and love the Citroen I'd go for a 2 year old (3 LR) next time and ignore the looks and build quality. In fact I'm more likely to go petrol version of what I have until charging is sorted.
