Very useful information about decompression and overflowing precautions, great, thanks for that but, you should never tighten up the sphere with a tool, only by hand, it will get way too tight to remove it the next time trying to unscrew it which will result in further damage waste of time and nerves
Hola lynx!
Hello, Thank you for your tuto. I have a C5 Tourer phase II. I need to change the rear “accumulators” but unfortunately the tool I had to unscrew is a chain type and it is a bit too thick like there is not enough space for the chain between the accumulator and the car body. I need a tool with a metal strip, but I guess simple the one for oil filter are not strong enough. I see you tool that look much stronger. Would you be kind to tell me where you bought it?
Я слышал, что чтобы так не мучаться с откручиванием надо сферу срывать под давлением в верхним положении машины, потом опускать, сбрасывать давление и откручивать до конца. А закручивать только руками, как масляный фильтр.
citroen C5 2001 exhaust pipe strange sound when the car is cold but disappears after a few minutes when it warms up. At 1,500 rpm the noise disappears. Any piece in that sounds?
Yes, I would think so, but I've never had my hands on a C6. The C6 has 2 additional spheres, which regulate the firmness. I'd also consider a Lexia for depressurization mandatory on a C6. When / if you do that on your (?) C6, would you mind posting a video?
Hello, my C5 X7 is leaking oil from the struts, do you have any idea how can i stop it? A new strut will cost a lot of money here in my country...I was thinking about a Hydraulic anti leak, but im scared about it, haha
Hi, I would not be using anti leak stuff...Hydractive is rather sensitive. I would try: 1) Hydractive Gymnastics, up & down 5-10 times, leave it high up over night. 2) Exchange of Hydractive Fluid 3) Loosen spheres and retighten 4) Remove spheres and replace O-rings 5) ??? :) Take time between steps 1 and 2, a week or two maybe. Hope this helps.
Hey buddy, I changed all 4 spheres and LDS fluid on my C5, but still no fully comfortable drive..? Any idea what could be problem..? I haven't connected car to lexia after replacement to release air from the system...
Hi, try some hydractive gymnastics: 5 times fully up and down in succession. This bleeds the system. Then, the c5 is not as plush as a xantia or similar, more like a normal car.
I done it already... Some how it does not absorb small holes on the road as well as it should and everything else is changed..(sillent bloks, globes). Rear arm bearing was changed about 20 months ago, and the car made about 23k km with those, can't believe that they are gone again...but roads in Serbia are pretty bad...
The new bearings need lots of grease. Propshaft grease that is water resistant is best, I think it is Lithium based. You need decent bearings and they need to be loaded and shimmed properly, so they are not being squashed or are too loose. I think a lot of the no name bearings with the kits are Chinese bearings. Did you fit a branded bearing?, like Fag or SKF?
I went to Official Citroen service to change the bearings...I am not sure which one they fitted, but I know that new SKF in my country are about 90 euros for both sides, and they took 120euros for parts and repair together... this was changed on decembar 2016... before this, I also changed them on decembar 2014...
I did not try this myself, but read about it: There is a valve near the front right suspension which has a bleed screw. So first loosen the sphere while still raised, then lower to lowest position, then open that bleed valve. Fluid will spill, be prepared.
Hello me again. I am really sorry because I had no time to consider the purchasing of the tool you recommended one month ago and now it is not active anymore. Would you have the details of this merchand that I can contact him please? Thanks again.
Bleeding is done by operating the hydractive while the car is stationary. Start the engine, then raise and lower it 5 times to the max / min positions. THis bleeds the system. Also turn the steering from lock to lock a couple of times, since it uses the same oil.
I like the birdsong sound generator in your workshop.....andyou forgot to edit the video to make it half the time...or do you charge by the minute ? ;)
I noticed you have the gray colored spheres. I have a Citroen C5 HDi- 2003 Sedan. Would the system be the same as yours and if the spheres are green what is the difference? My problem is that rear suspension is very stiff. Any input is appreciated. tx
You will need the same grey 'Saucer' spheres as they are known. You will need to check the correct ones for your vehicle as they have different pressures dependent upon Model, engine and hydractive 3 or hydractive 3+. The old green spheres were for previous Citroen's prior to the C5 and C6 and they were designed to work with the green LHM / LHM+ hydrualic oil, The C5 and C6 use a fluid called LDS made by Total. Don't mix the two!
The fluid should only be between the 2 marks at the bottom of the small gauze basket when the car is in the lowest position - it should not be filled to the brim!
Citroen давно вернулся к металлу ;(. Но это была удобная, хорошая машина! :) The Citroen has already been converted to metal again ;). But it was a comfortable, good car :).
