Im going to check tomorrow one ds3 1.6l auto from 2011,petrol...and i need advice ..all the mechanicals says no...but i want it ..what is your experience??
My last car was a mini, nothing but mechanics problem and is like driving a go cart, I now own a citroen DS3 sport imo much better to drive and economic and is not shy at pulling away
Ive had both a 59 plate R56 cooper S and still have my 62 plate DS3 Dsport+ Thp and DS3 is just a better car and to say they both have the same Engine but the Cooper S having more BHP the DS3 doesn't seem any slower its certainly much nicer inside and more luxurious.
I drive a Swift Sport and although a nice car I do get frustrated with the tall driving position. I'm thinking of getting a Cooper S next because I think it has the lowest driving position of any hot hatch.
I have the mini coupé 184 and the ds3 165 thp pack performance. Poor mini... The ds3 is verry better. Mini is very old... The new thp 165 is not bad. The interior of the last ds3 it is very well with all option and pack performance. Ds3 beautifull car, now the mini...
The Mini gear changes of, have been more rapids than in the ds3, and in the Mini, the pilot made faster the change of gears.(than strange ...). Also, just before the drift, in the output, the change from 1st to 2nd gear has made very fast, slowing even more engine response ... and wasting time, while, in the mini, before you change to 2nd gear, the pilot accelerates much more . if the pilot grabs the DS3 in the same way, he humiliates to the MINI Distressing...
I would rather pay abit more for a better car in looks, build quality and performance plus it would hold better value. Also in the point there of the Mini being less spacious a friend of mine has a DS3 and even with the seat really far back i had hardly any legroom in the front passenger seat and I'm only about 5'7!!
Mat, You have asked English people about an English vs French car. Of course they will say Mini even if the Citroen is better. The ones who said Citroen actually love the looks of the Citroen probably
Yeah modern french design for Men, Retro/Heritage design for Women. Makes total sense. You can also get more kitchen utensil and cleaning products in the back of a DS3.
@toyotaprius79 the mini is built in oxford england but the engine is from psa who own citroen and pegueot its the 1.6 and bmw i mean mini change the injectors and ignition system and ecu to bmw developed ones from bosch
If they want to compare them in the agility test , its not a fair comparaison. The cooper S is adjusted for sportivity, if it wants a true competition, it should race the DS3: lighter, faster, better brake, handling and an extra 50bhp with the same engine but turbocharged.
@adriannippy I'd love to know how people define practicality. It has a bigger boot so it's more practical? How many people buy this kind of car to put a load of luggage in? I would say a smaller boot is more practical for most people who will buy this as it cuts down on fuel used and makes it shorter so easier to park. If it's just a great empty space even with the weekly shop in then it's just wasted.
I would have liked to have heard the test drivers opinion who drove it in the 2nd test. Personally I'd go with the DS3 because its not pretending to be British. And also the Mini seems to cramped inside for my liking.
@mouloudo I just don't think MINI is trying to be big with a whole fleet of cars. They found a niche that works for them so they are filling it. Besides, the countryman is completely different from the cooper in and out, not to mention is has a different drivetrain.
I'd have a DS3 any time. The Mini is a not particularly reliable maintenance pain. Like all BMW's, expensive times lie ahead for every owner. The Mini with 'cool' is the original. The new Mini is just an overweight pastiche.
If Citroen is so keen to point out that it's not retro, then why did they call it the DS3? It may not not look retro, but the "DS" part of the name comes from one of the most stylistically and technologically advanced cars ever built. Besides, this car is small, agile and fast - everything the original wasn't.
The mini looks old. As for driving . Depends on the driver. It doesn't take much to put the power up and lower it a bit to pit it on par with the mini or even better
Lol...when he handbrakes, it takes him 1sec at each time to start off with the DS3...that's clearly unfair...you can also see the mini has softer suspensions, i'm sure the DS3 is better at this exercice.
@attacusbuttercorn I agree with you though in principle. The DS3 is overdone. Those "me too" LED daylight running lights for one. MiTo is beautiful, shame the chassis isn't so amazing.
Sorry but why we hear the English Anthem for the Mini ? Incredible English lol I remember to you that Mini is not English since a long time now (in fact you have not big automaders since a long time now :-( ^^ ) Mini is an owner of the BMW Corporation & a German car if not in this case the Greatest car sell in the world is French ^^ Yes the Bugatti Veyron is not German but French like in the past & its origins :-) But strange in the case of the Veyron your "vision" is not for that ^^
What a pointless video. He may as well have saved time, tyres, and fuel and just said what he said in the last 10 seconds. If he was going to write the mini off because it was more expensive and less practical the rest of the video is a complete waste of everyone's time. Kinda like comparing it to a bag of chips.
haha, yeah I read it ;) Still don't agree ;) if you have normal mini in red, it's maybe a girls car, but a mini cooper s in black, that much manlier than a citroen ;)
w9 fpr a 200 bhp ds3 =) its actually rly a better car. i love the looks of mini, but sorry, the interior is just too tight. ds3 has much more space, especially at the back!
@donnymum waitn till the DS3 racing comes out. It's even better. I'm quite surprised an englishman fancies a Citroen more than a Mini. Ooops, a BMW, sorry LOL !
people tend to be stupid nowadays, most companies use other engines made by other manufactures, yes maybe the foreign engine is better but that's mostly down to companies like ferrari, mecerdes, bmw having more money, experience (participation in F1), expertise etc .
DS3 all the way. Dislike the 'new' style mini's. Way too common and just generally boring. DS3 looks sweet with its vertical LED lights on the front too...
@BabyVoltron haha YES im a FAN of the MINI Mini whatever you want to call it mINI if u like lol i love everything about the Mini but it doesnt mean I dont like other cars and Im baised in anyway, e.g i really like the golf GTI as its everything a man could need from space to power to handling, why u commenting and patronising lol just get over it a Citroen will never be bette carr in MOST cases than a "MINI"(jus so ur happy lol) now get over it ... ;)
Why? Cooper S vs. THP150?^^ Its not fair :-D Racing vs. Cooper S!!! Thats fair!!! And the DS3 Racing is not for woman! I say only -> WRC Champion: Sebastian Loeb! I love the Mini but the Racing is better than the normal Cooper S! A Mini from John Cooper Works is a car!
DS3 is more handsome both exterior and interior. Also has bigger space. I cant say anything for the engine and driving but the road test they have done in video was useless. I thought it would be like a one lap at the track but they didnt have budget to pay track and they tested it at the parking space. what a hideous.
