Re solder ALL the joints in the relay block not just that one...and CLEAR ALL stored codes in the ecu.. you have no idea how long the faults have been in the ecu ....always clear an ecu so its fresh and you only pick up new faults..
@SeasideGarage
@SeasideGarage 9 месяцев назад
Did them all... Battery been of for more then 24 hours.... guess the error codes are gone then?
@Mr80sliveon
@Mr80sliveon 9 месяцев назад
No. Battery off does not erase stored codes you need to do it with your test lamp.. there will be a procedure to clear faults which should be on that post on the forum..
@Mr80sliveon

I'm fortunate that I have the special extra lead to connect these older test plugs to my lexia diagnostic and can do it all at touch of a button. Makes things a lot faster ..

You have to connect the pin to negative (ground) for 15 seconds to clear the error codes. Removing the battery will not clear the codes. There's a chance that you have already fixed the issue. Because, a cracked solder joint like that is definitely going to cause problems. Be sure to make that module waterproof before finally reinstalling it, high temperature silicone recommended because of the heat in the engine bay - a tiny bit of superglue to mechanically hold it closed, then a small amount of silicone, just enough to fill the crack, smooth it in with your finger. You don't want either substance to get into and interfere with the module. A second bead of silicone, once again smoothing, after the first has completely dried is not a bad idea.

You shouldn't use standard silicone, as it off-gasses, which then causes corrosion of the circuit board.

Sepo maybe the codes are stored in the ABS unit, and not resetting/being erased even with the battery removed. There must be a procedure to clear the codes... maybe just a long battery disconnect... or more likely using the dreaded ancient French diagnostic tool that doesn't work... Doesn't seem logical to have all those codes at the same time, especially the code for wheel speed sensors, when the car is standing still, and the resistances of the sensors measure within spec at the ABS module. It must be old (partially inactive) codes!

God jul! I'm always happy to help and hope it cures your problem. As others have stated, the XM will retain the fault codes for life (unless erased). If my memory serves me right, you have to press the switch for 15 seconds after reading the codes, then switch igntion off. But if everything is working correctly ABS should work and system should pass the self-test regardless of stored codes (that is if there is no current faults). So it’s good idea to erase them and see if something comes back. I would not be surprised if one of the sensors has failed.

@anidiotinaracingcar4874
@anidiotinaracingcar4874 9 месяцев назад
I don't know how that diagnostic system works but shouldn't the car run (and possibly actually drive so that the module sees if the wheel speed sensors work) to clear the codes? In other words: maybe you should go for a drive of a few km and test it again?
@anidiotinaracingcar4874

You need to drive it, so the system can see that it’s working! 👍🏻 then clear the fault codes
@randomguy7253
@randomguy7253 9 месяцев назад
I think that too. The system probably needs to see impulses from the wheel sensors, and maybe even consistent impulses (so just turning the wheels one by one up in the air might not help). Bosch ABS-1 on the BMW K-bikes is like that, only clears the error dash light after you move the first meter...
@mcdk72
@mcdk72 9 месяцев назад
I have a 307, i know it's not the same, but if i have disturbed the system it will give a fault that can't be reset. I have to drive about 50 meters and the system will recalibrate.
@martindonderwinkel653
@martindonderwinkel653 9 месяцев назад
This could be a possibility indeed. Some cars need new input from all the sensors while driving to clear error codes.

Hi ! I am French, I am 19 years old and I have absolutely the same car as you V6 24, I had the same problem as you with mine, when you retested, you have to start the car for about 30 seconds and press the brake pedal several times while the ABS computer updates, I noticed in one of your old videos of the Citroen v6 24 that you had your engine speeds increasing by itself, you have one of your lambda sensors which must be faulty, if you have a question about the model or if you are looking for parts, do not hesitate to contact me I will be happy to help you with this project Stevens Performance

In my experience for the ABS sensor error code(s) to clear the car has to move so the ECU can register the signal from the sensor.

Happy Xmas, Seppo! These big Citroens seem to be the 'gifts that keep on giving' at least in terms of providing interesting content for you. 'My twopennies' worth' (as we Brits say) is that ABS repairs are the gift to repair garage managers as they used to go on my previous car (a 2004 Skoda Fabia) all the time, tho' most of that time it was the sensors and not the ABS devices themselves. Even so, it was never a particularly cheap job to fix and I dreaded the little yellow ABS light coming on on the dashboard.

@@jovangrbic97 With an oscilloscope you can see for each wheel sensor whether it is working properly? when you connect it and turn the wheel?
@jovangrbic97
@jovangrbic97 9 месяцев назад
@@martindonderwinkel653 Yes, connect an oscilloscope lead to ground and the signal wire going to the ECU, or alternatively at the ABS sensor plug at the wheel, probe across its pins, and as you spin the wheel you should see a clear sine wave, increasing in frequency as the wheel turns faster!

Merry Christmas I don't know any thing about "modern" cars electronics, but After watching many RU-vid videos, .... Don't you have to clear all the fault codes after you make a repair? Maybe you fixed the problem and the error codes now showing are just from the un-cleared fault code memory?

Does Lexia work with the XM? If so you can clear the fault codes to see what comes back. The forums are an absolute wealth of knowledge. I'm sure you will get to the bottom of the ABS problems. Most ABS problem are the sensors or the pickup rings. Having a guide to the error codes is a big help.
