I always enjoyed The Raggy Dolls, and I still absolutely adore the theme tune, so I never edit it out (even when Jerry Foulkes does his link over the top of it). Big thumbs up to tortured genius Neil Innes for that. He suffered for his art, you know.
Anyway, Jerry's in the gallery without Scally but with the latest issue of Look-In, while the ads feature some nice animation and an unexpected Frank Bruno appearance. Broadcast on Wednesday, 31st May, 1989, and if you want to watch this episode of EMU-TV, you can do so here:

(If you're a copyright holder and have any objections, please feel free to contact me. Alternatively, I haven't monetised the video, so you're welcome to do so, and that way everybody wins.)

I remember all these adverts and the programmes - happy days! And the ads are still better than the programmes you get on TV nowadays.

Frank Bruno in the HP Sauces advert was quite funny when he said "Pass the sauce, Harry!".

"Somewhere in the middle of nowhere" AKA the quite obvious south-western US desert. LOL. :D Who doesn't love the old Raggy Dolls theme, another hit by the co-creator of The Ruttles. :D You certanly won't see ads like that Kia-Ora one nowadays. I vaguely recall taht HP sauces ad, Frank Bruno being their spokesperson meant that he must have been given loads of money for it. The old McDonald's balloon race ad that ends in London, I forgot all about this one. That brought back some nostalgia too. And to top it all off, this was aired during my fifth birthday. :)

Thinking about it, I can't believe Harry Ramsden's never got Frank Bruno to do his "Know what I mean, Harry?" catchphrase for them. He can't have been that expensive for ads. And, yes, poor old Neil Innes deserves a lot more respect and admiration than he gets. I also remember him from Puddle Lane a few years before this.

@@VideotapeFTW I thought someone who worked on Monty Python would be more well known, especially since he was responsible for a lot of things, weird? I guess maybe Frank wasn't as big of a fan of Harry Ramsden foods as he was for HP sauces. Who knows? But yeah, that catchphrase would have made more sense if used on their brand.

@@David315842 Neil fell out with Eric Idle over music royalties and it pretty much ended his relationship with Python, I suspect that's why his involvement with them has been pretty much reduced to a footnote. Frank Bruno was everywhere around this time wasn't he, he did Royal Variety performances and guest spots all over the place for a few years, trying his best to have comic timing.

@@Majorhappysaccount Thanks for the explanation, that does explain a lot and yeah poor Neil should have been treated better. Around this time Frank was still an active competitor, so he certainly was very busy around this time, doing all of these TV appearances on top of boxing.

Incredible upload! I was wondering, do you happen to have any of the colorized Porky Pig cartoons from the 1930s-40s recorded from ITV such as the one where Porky Pig runs a chicken farm where he protects them from the fox, as well as one where Porky Pig and his girlfriend go on a picnic?

Glad you enjoyed it! I'm afraid I don't have any colourised Looney Tunes at all - sorry.
