Glad to see the trees coming back. I remember when the pine beetle hit in the 1980’s. Devastated the area. I think the original Mack’s Inn burned down about that time.

The next time you go to Island Park, Idaho, you should rent an air B and B on Bills Island, on Island Park Reservoir, or stay at Lakeside Lodge on Island Park Reservoir or camp At Buttermilk Campground on Island Park Reservoir, and rent a boat or jet ski and spend time on Island Park Reservoir.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building is a meeting house and not a temple. A meeting house is where they hold Sunday services and social activities during the week, and is open to anyone to attend. Temples are only open to worthy church members who have a recommend from their church leaders. There, they make sacred covenants with the Lord. They’re not open to the public because of its sacred nature. However, before a temple is put into operation, it is opened to the public so that people can see what the inside looks like, and they are just beautiful!

@@CityWalks Loved seeing the Mack's Inn area. I remember the old building that was there. It was pretty cool. I was sad to hear that it burned down some years back. Growing up, I spent a good chunk of my summers in the Last Chance area of Island Park where my parents had a cabin, but haven't been able to go back much since then. Hope you do a walking tour of Last Chance some time.

Thanks for this! Grew up south of Idaho Falls, and in the late 70's-80's we spent a lot of time snowmobiling and camping in the Island Park area. One of our favorite treats was the hot chocolate at Mack's Inn, overlooking the River ❤. It's changed so much since then.
