Another piece of advice (I learnt this from experience) is to buy a breaker bar with an extendable handle so you get loads of torque. Tyre fitters are buggers for over-tightening wheel nuts with their pneumatic guns. The weedy wheel brace that comes with the car is utterly useless if the nuts are over-tightened.

Tyre successfully changed by myself for the first time, thanks to this video! I found getting the wheel cap off the hardest actually, had to use the flat side of the wheel wrench to pry it off. Wheel nuts got off okay with a bit of WD40 :)

I always checked the spare and made sure it was kept correctly inflated. I have not got a spare on my new car and am anxious all the time because I have to rely on a mobility kit. Thanks for the video as its a long time since I've had a puncture.

Awesome video, always worried about getting a flat

I wanted a city car & it came down to the Toyota IQ or the 107/C1/Aygo. The thing that made my decision was the spare wheel in the 107/C1/Aygo. I'm old fashioned & I will never own a car without a spare. My colleagues all mock me. They think I'm ridiculous. I asked them what they'll do when they get a puncture. Being women they all said they'd call the breakdown company. It happened to one of them last week. She had to wait an hour on a Saturday afternoon for him to arrive. Absolute madness.

Just checked my spare. It was 0.5bar! I cleaned it and put 5 bar in it so it will be ready when i need it (Yes, it can handle 5 bar. It's my spare donuy from a Audi it is made for that amount of bar) Gonna check my dad his 107 spare wheel too! Always handy to have pressure in it

Worth mentioning if the car has Alloy wheels there might also be a DIFFERENT set of shorter “temporary” bolts to use JUST with the spare Steel wheel. These have a short thread for thin steel wheels. The 2 sets should never be swapped (ie short bolts to secure alloy wheels at the risk there isn’t enough thread secured into the hub and forces might cause the wheel to come off)!

The 107 is a great car but the locking wheel nuts are garbage. Mine sheared at the tyre fitter as he was fitting a new tyre. I ended up having to take it to a wheel nut removal guy. He was brilliant. He removed the sheared locking nut and replaced all the others at £20 each with some really good quality ones. I was lucky. If this had happened on the motorway I'd have been screwed. Thankfully it happened with my spare wheel already on. My advice is get some better locking wheel nuts before your original nuts shear.

I don't have two of the spaces to put my jack into any suggestions? I do at the front and at the other side but not the side I need

Good video iv got a bit of a daft question to ask what is the black plastic thing near the notches towards the wheel ones came off my car and can't seem to find them on the Internet are them some sort of mudguard but need the proper name cos I can't find them

Also make sure the jack is positioned on hard ground! As if it’s a grass verge or gravel, there’s a risk the weight of the car will cause the jack to sink into the ground and the car might fall off the jack! Aside from being a dangerous scenario, might also damage the vehicle, plus leave you in a much worse situation!

You should give the bolts a drop of oil before putting them back in.

Everyone should carry an electric tyre pump. You can pick them up for 15 quid and they're great. Failing that buy an old fashioned foot pump.

why the fuck did they put drum brakes on the rear wheels

Can you put a bit of copper grease on the nut threads to stop them seizing or would this cause them to come loose? For home use you can't beat a little trolley jack but (advice to others reading) don't replace the car jack that comes with your car with a trolley jack or a bottle jack because, when the tyre is punctured i.e. flat, you can't slide a trolley jack or bottle jack under the car. I learnt the hard way. Thanks for these videos, they're brilliant.
