A nice collection of vintage 1983 commercials from January 1983 that aired during a Citytv broadcast.
Retrontario’s primary mission is the preservation, research and exhibition of rare videotape recordings (1970s to 1990s) recorded off of any and all Ontario (and surrounding area) TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. We also hope to create an ongoing oral history of this content through comments left below the videos. Simpler times, places, friends, loved ones long gone. I was 11. Little did I know how much things would change and move on and how much I would miss it.

Only because commercials nowadays are annoying nonsense. Most of the time the commercials and ads of today have nothing to do with anything the product or service is a about, and not to mention they are too damn long nowadays. Look the ads of the past. They are all short and to the point.

Bravo 👏👏👏 I love how Felix the cat's owner is gruff but really loves his cat 🐈 l had the "Hooked On Classics" record ⏺️ & made up my own aerobics routines to it. The "City TV" movie promo theme brings back the excitement of catching a late night movie...l loved the little animated TTC streetcar racing along & the dog 🐕 joining the family for the show. I recall singing along to the "Hochtaler" 🍾 commercial & being embarrassed by the panty liner one. I still drink Salada tea 🍵 (yes its still available!) l fondly recall the happy Pampers baby & 'wet'/'not as wet' bottoms test 🤭 The 'Stay Real' PSA was very moving. Thank you Retrontario for this joyous escape after a stressful day.

Is it me? Or did the old commercials seem and sound friendlier? Miss that. My dad was going around the world employed by NCR( National Cash Register) putting in the first cash machines in 82/83. In the early 90s I had a used Prelude from then. Loved that car! “Homecoming” music was a hit after that Salada commercial! I have the sheet music. We also had Hooked on classics. Oh my gosh I haven’t seen this stuff since I was a kid! Fun recalling this stuff. Also, wasn’t it nice to see people who actually just look like regular people and natural beauty. You don’t see all the plastic fantastic.
