Please, everyone, a D15B Vtec is a JDM replacement of the D16Z6. It's 128 HP and Vtec. The AWD transmission in the civic wagon is D series. Also, the previous motor was not B series, it was a DOHC ZC non Vtec motor. Please, if you're going to comment, pay attention and do your research.
Mario Barrantes zc head code pm3-2? D15b head code p08 same as d16z6 most of the parts are interchangeable between jdm d15b obd1 and z6 head iv used most of my parts from my z6 on my d15b despite the cam difference
Follow up, I now have a 97 Civic EX Coupe with a JDM D15B 3-stage VTEC block with a D16Z6 head and a JDM S8G Del Sol Si transmission with a Garrett 50 trim, 450cc DSM injectors, P28 ecu with stepdown harness, Z6 distributor with stepdown harness, 3" turbo-back exhaust, 38mm Turbosmart external wastegate at 8 lbs, AEM wideband, FMIC, Tial BOV, and stock P2J internals and it's definitely fun to drive. It gets better gas mileage than it did when it was NA and even running on just a basemap it flies, I can't wait to see what it'll be like after it's tuned. My buddy has a JDM D15B OBD1 with basically the same setup but he's running a small .48 A/R T3 from an old Ford and his cars really fast on 10 lbs. These motors respond well to boost and are still just as reliable if you get a good tune. Have fun with it bud.
hey from alberta. huge east coast nova scotian shout out as well from the boys back home in Antigonish and PHK. nice work! keep up the great vidz 🚘🚦🚖 ........vtec...🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁

Keep the vids rolling man ! im currently re looming my EF-8 CRX with type r swap with a milspec loom from rywire. Cant believe it started first pop man thats awsome !!
Nice swap man. I just did the same one. With arp headstuds gate belt cometic headgasket. I fabricated my own intermediate shaft bracket. I did even know a company made them lol
Parabéns pelo excelente trabalho de vocês sou inscrito no canal e fã de vocês gostaria muito que aqui no Brasil tivesse essa facilidade em reposição de peças para motores Honda pois com certeza seria mais fácil a nossa vida.
Uh am I crazy or does it seem like y'all just swapped that DOHC ZC engine in there? Andrew blew it up already? What is he doing? Revving that thing to 9 grand between shifts? The good news is that the D15B can handle the 9 grand shifts...usually. My EG8 came with a D15B7 that quickly ate itself (within a week after purchase) and I had already purchased and swapped my 89 CRX DX to D15B and OBD-1 but upon closer inspection I found the shell to be almost completely constructed of Bondo (3" thick in the quarters) and I started looking for a 92-95 Civic when I found my 92 EG8 4 door for $650 with a blown head gasket. I drove 2.5 hours out to get it and drove it 2.5 hours home with a blown head gasket. I changed everything the next day and the oil pump decided that it had enough and checked out causing the third cylinder to eject itself from the front and back of the block. Anyway, the D15B was the best engine that I've ever had and the most reliable. The only problem that I've EVERYTHING had with it was it's lack of real balls and the JDM distributor shit the bed on me. Other than that, no problems whatsoever. Great engine and I think after a good turbo kit, you'll be very happy with your decision. Good luck and God bless.
If you some how blow another engine, you may want to ask HMO about the D15z7. I bet that would be a blast in the wagon. I love it in my CRX. May want to convert to OBD2 to run it correctly though.
im sure he wont take the time to give me a write up on the things i want to know. Just need to know about obd0 coversions Because im using a A6 with a z6 head since i think itll be the least complicated way to go about a swap. But im not 100% sure.
Why didnt u guys took the head off? new valve steams, cleaning head n valves or maybe even do some work to it, and u forgot to check valve clearance aswell
I got the same jdm d15b vtec block and got it installed in my honda civic 1997 ex ( d16y8 ). the only error code that i have now is p032 which is for the knock sensor . I have the the d16y8 ecu and harness ( OBD2 connected to the block. Where is the knock sensor located at in this block?
I was wondering why you guys why you abandoned this(Edit: it was the other wagon videos before this actually) Never made the 3rd or was it 4th installment? Is a b18 or b16zc with doable in a wagon? Ty!
So i have recently purchased a 1989 rt4wd wagon with a d15b7 in it and the drivers side halfshaft has no place to mount to the block do i tap out the motor or is there a one piece cv shaft solution thanks in advance hsg
i have a 1991 hatch i they swipe the motor to the same motor on video, the motor that ya put in the car, n im having problems with it, is thier a way ya can give me n advice to make it run proper, it chokes, backfire, i did the basic spark plugs, wiring, ignition, rodern im steal having same problems..
Please help!!!!! I just put d15b deul vtec in 96 ek hatchback d15b is out of automatic my car is 5 speed ecu they gave me with motor is automatic..I put motor in got everything plugged up car wont start with ecu they gave but starts up with old one
guys,I get a civic lx 1998 4dr with this swap: d15b2 block and d16y7 head,i change the block to a d15b1 because de b2 get broken, what can i do to add more horsepower, i modify the intake,it has a p28 ecu, racing fuel regulator, vtec inyectors
Help me out I swapped from a d16y8 to a Japanese d15b did complete swap but car won't start and I don't hear no fuel being pushed through. Battery comes on but no crank no nothing
1 it's easier to change the timing belt while it's out of the car and it's cheap insurance. 2: you prime the engine by turning it over without fuel or spark to get the oil through the motor because it's been sitting for a while.
+julio.g nomzuno d15b uses the vx 103tooth timing belt. other d series belts have too many teeth and can slip even when installed correctly. the vx belt is the only one to use on the d15b.
I have a question. If change the transmission from auto to manual without changing the ECU does it make any differents or should the ECU need to be change? Mine is D16A, the previous owner only change the engine from d15b vtec to d16a without changing complete wiring ecu and gearbox. I recently change the the gearbox from auto to manual
The Ecu should be changed. It may work but have a constant check engine light on. But overall you want to have the proper parts to ensure longevity. The wrong tune/Ecu on a car will cause more damage over time.
thanks for the info. Im planning on changing back to D15B vtec but still using the manual gearbox. Does D15b vtec have ECU that works on manual cause i keep researching that they put D15B Auto no manual so far.
+Canaan Noir This is the improper way to do it. If you have the money to get the proper ECU, you should do so. I didn't have the spare mulahh lol so I instead took the short cut
Chue Vang old comment but yes it is i plan on doing it to my crx soon if you have knowledge and fabrication skills its possible ive done hours of reasearch to figure it all out biggest issues is shortening the drive shaft and you will have to either custom make or have them machined is the stabilizing bars to match up with the hubs from the wagon rear subframe to the crx if you dont have access to a lift or any type of real skill it aint going to happen i do autobody repair ive been doing it for about 9 years ive cut cars in half and brought em together again thats the only reason im attempting to do this
ThatKid FromTheAV D15b7 has 102 hp, d16z6 has 125 hp. Not all that close.. it had a B series in it before they did the D swap, why not just get another B series and a crv rear and trans. Would of been crap loads better.
+Chad Evans most likely you have the timing wrong. do research on Honda-tech.com or D-series.org. To find out what proper cam gear you need and how to time your setup. make sure your firing order is also correct.
Nice swap man. I just did the same one. With arp headstuds gate belt cometic headgasket. I fabricated my own intermediate shaft bracket. I did even know a company made them lol
