One can only hope… because Iran, China and Russia are thinking how wonderful this would be, saying to each other… “once they’ve torn themselves apart to enough pieces, the spoils are up for grabs. May the best country win”
@@MrGreengiant4200doesn't even matter, checking the comments on the trailer and there's a lot of mad conservatives saying they're portrayed badly and it's "liberal crap", ignoring that this isn't about them!
That's the staple of good movie making when the subject is so polarizing. It's also why Leave The World Behind is good. It shows some built-in bias from a couple of the players but doesn't beat you over the head with it. My takeaway from that movie was pretty much what Marshala's character said in the closing dialog before the end of the film. How did we let our internal conflicts (which are fueled by identity politics) get so out of control that an actor (internal or external) manages to cripple our technical infrastructure to the point of shutting down the country.
@@kyletaylor4489 haven’t seen it yet, don’t often watch horror, but I may just have to give it a shot since I’ve heard too many people say too many good things about, even my buddies and some close family members (some of which also do not watch much or enjoy much horror)…
I always enjoy Alex Garland’s stuff and that’s what intrigued me from the start of the movie being announced. Interested to see it myself once it comes out especially as an A24 fan.
@@aldogonzalez137it’s not a question of if it’s good or not, it’s just the most irresponsible movie maybe ever. Hey let’s depict an incredibly realistic scenario that could happen within a year or two so that people can really visualize how it could go down! Oh and let’s release it on the day the civil war actually started. It’s just messed up. No need to make this movie. Fear pron for the right left paradigm people. If you can’t see the problem with this type of movie, idk what to tell you.
It disturbing because it can actually happen. There’s a lot of angry people that lives among us so after this film you never underestimate people thoughts and actions.
@@nms7872 Interesting, I’m gonna have to look into that. I guess this may be another scenario like Josstice League where it says Zack directed it when in reality, it’s Joss Whedon’s film. I’m gonna look into what happened with Dredd, great film!
HEY GUYS! GUYS! I’VE SEEN THE MARVEL MOVIES!!! THERE ARE LITERALLY MOVIES WITH THE SAME TITLE AS MARVEL MOVIES AND IT’S INSANE. I HAD TO ANNOUNCE THAT I KNOW THAT.
Really looking forward to it. It looked exciting but like yourself I had reservations about how they were going to treat characters and if the “villains” were stereotyped as middle American people.
I always thought the most realistic portrayal of a current day Civil War was Euel Arden’s novel, Down Here in the Warmth. Great book. How can you go wrong with Militia on the streets of Manhattan.
*FUN FACT* The “But what kind of American are you guy” is the bully kid from the movie LIKE MIKE. I kept thinking about it and it was driving me crazy and I finally realized he was the bully from like Mike with lil bow wow😂😂
The biggest flaw with this movie was that A24 entirely misleads you into thinking that it's about the war in general in the trailer even though it's about fucking journalists 1/10 i don't recommend
Guys before you go watch it understand that it’s not really about a concept of ‘what if: America had a civil war’ more like a group of journalist during a civil war.
The title is misleading because the Civil War would have legit armies against each other it also doesn't seem to be a Republicans versus Democrats theme
It's not abstract or preachy. If people go in expecting a straight action m movie, it's not that. It's following war time journalists into a war. It's more like a thriller. And it lets the audience have their own takeaways. More putting a mirror up than telling people what to think.
@SeanChandlerTalksAbout I know where SXSW is held because I lived in Austin for 18 years and there wasn't a Paramount. So that IS the old Ritz then? Can an Austinite confirm for me please?
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout Its funny, if you go through all the comments the only ones that need to settle down are the batshit insane conservative conspiracy folks creaming themselves for civil war, its all over the comments section for YOUR reaction. Both sides my ass. You have fans who are glorifying murdering " liberals" two comments down from my reply here.
Life imitates art. This is by design. We are too busy fighting with each other, worrying about gender inclusive bathrooms to under the gravity of what the heck is going on in the world. It is utterly horrifying whets happening.
Kinda disappointed...low on detail like how this war start and so on,only last part when Western Force attack DC is interesting other than that just dry and keep getting question without answer....only look cool on trailer
I saw the movie and it was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. I didn’t care for the characters. The young girl was developing film. I minored in photography and we used film. No one uses film any more. Artists do. Someone in the combat journalism would use digital media. If you look at media used to cover wars they use digital video cameras. The chemistry needed to print film is bulky and expensive. So I had a problem with that. Two states succeeded from the union/United States Texas, which makes perfect sense and (wait for it) California (?). Oh they worked together. California can’t work with itself. The one character that made sense was the young soldier in the red glasses by the mass grave. Horrible movie. Charters that you never care about. The sounds of war were very loud and believable. Blood looked very fake. I could go on but ya get the idea. I think your being at the opening may have swayed your opinion.
This film was terrible. Might be worst plot ever written. It literally made no sense. Best part of film is the glorification of photojournalism. But that’s it.
This movie was awful! It should've been called "photo journalists go to Washington". There was no back story on the way, why the president was the enemy, whether the WF were the good guys or the bad guys, how it got started, who was funding the para military efforts etc etc etc. I went to this movie excited to see a dramatization of what can happen when you elect a bunch of zealots and autocratic madmen to positions of power in a failing democracy. What I got was a story that tried to make me interested in and emotionally connected to a group of journalists. What a waste of money!
I'm planning on watching it soon but so far I've heard all of the antagonists are "right wingers" and there's a noticeable lack of "leftist" groups being portrayed.
I must have been watching a different movie it was like watching paint dry it was so boring until the very predictable last 10 minutes one of the worst movies I have seen this year
@WeThePeople_FJB No. He and his cult attempted to subvert our constitution by submitting fraudulent electors certificates in several states. He illegally withheld classified DOD documents and lied about it when questioned. His charity was disbanded due to fraud. His "university" was shut down due to fraud. He engaged in an attempted insurrection of the US government. Shall I go on?
I saw the movie last night. It is disturbing on a multitude of levels. To say that the movie does not take sides, is inaccurate. It is the subtle ways in which ther writers and Director frame the movie. Consider: The President, is white, but not blondem but has a 'hair thing' going on. He's ignored the Constitutional term limits and is in his third term. The "Western Forces" Alliance, made up of Texas and California, are depicted with lots of people of color in their ranks, also woman in combat. Meanwhile, the 'other side', is for the most part all white people. Three disturbing scenes stand out. A blonde haired guy in camo wearing a pair of red glasses that are from front to back, all red. He shoots two Chinese Americans in cold blood. In another scene, a bunch of fighters in street clothes, also diverse, are fighting a bunch of white guys in camo. In the end, the guys in street clothes summarily execute three captured white guys in camo that are forced to wear black hoods. Another scene has a black gal who looks strinking like Candace Owens. She has her hands up in the air in the White House and wants to negotiate the safe passage of the President (a bad guy in the movie). The 'liberating soldiers', including a black female combat soldier, shoot the unarmed Candace Owens lookalike character dead. These soldiers than quickly find the President and shoot himn dead as well. The last scene shows the soldiers standing over the dead President. Off to the left of the screen, a dead guy that looks eerily like Jared Kushner.
All action? I felt the absence of action and mostly dialog. The so-called 'action' was thrown into the movie in such random and questionable ways, like the sniper scene.
